Hey there.

What a coincidence!

I just posted about the same problem here (http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2857) (you may not be able to view this as it's in the testers forum).

My source is also a Dell OEM CD, albeit with XPSP2 that I manually slipstreamed to SP3 using nLite (maybe this has to do with it, who knows).
I don't remember getting this error the last time I worked with this source.
I am using the nightly BASE 8.06, but was also doing so last time.

I suspect this error must either have come from a newer DP (as compared to my last slip) or from an addon I am using.
Have you added/modified anything on your source except for SP3 and then BASE slip?

Note: This driver is provided as is and is not supported by AMD. It has not completed full AMD testing, and is only recommended for users experiencing the particular issue described above.

They say that for EVERY hotfix.
Even the Radeon HD AGP cards hotfix, although, as you know, they only differ by some REG entries.

More of a legal disclaimer probably than a tech warning.

You're right...hotfix it is then.  Unfortunately, that will break driver signing for some notebooks.

Wouldn't that already be broken for all the models not initially supported by the Mobility Catalysts as we need to edit the INF?
Just wondering.

What about AVIVO?  Does anyone use that?  I could add it as a finisher exception.

When I feel like it, I do install it.
Haven't been using it (actually, I'm not quite sure what I would really need it for...???), but w/e.
Probably doesn't hurt, though.

My advice would be to wait for 8.7 in July for making an offical DP. I notice that nightlies are more liberal with unsigned betas, so I and all the other guinea pigs can certainly test the beta hotfix DP for you until then...

Sounds like an idea.
Of course, nightlies are "more liberal", that's what their name means.
Basically, it's a release of "what has been done so far" at the end of each working day (aka "night").
Takes no warranty for nothing by definition (rather alpha than beta).

Personally, I have made only good experiences with ATI hotfix drivers, however as you may now, I am generally against inlcuding anything beta in the DP releases - that is unless it fixes a serious bug.
So it's a green light coming from me - not that I would have anything to say in that matter wink

Hallo liebe deutschsprachigen DriverPacks-Freunde!

Helmi

Did you include the .NET libraries in your disc?
It is essential they are included via an addon and installed at T-13 (if possible).

Hey there, thanks for your contribution!

I really don't want to sound too critical here, but...

Sorry for my bad english, i cannot speak very well.

I'm wondering whether you only fixed spelling errors here or tried to achieve a better translation.
If you do not speak the language you try to translate from very well, it may be possible you misunderstand things which ends up with a not so perfect translation that may confuse users that make use of it.

Therefore, just to prevent any issues, did you properly understand what the English translation said?

Once again, this is with all due respect to your effords, I'm just trying to cut down a potential error source wink

You can disable the Singed Driver's Policy in nLite - that's what I recommend to do regardless of whether you use unsigned ones or not.
Thing is, if you happen to use a non-signed one unknowingly, XP will pick the signed one over it even if that turns out to be (much) older.
Probably not what you'd want if you already make the effort to integrate them.

Personally, I see little gain in having XP not installing unsigned drivers automatically - well, as long as you know what you're doing anyhow.
A signed driver does NOT mean it's bug-free or anything.
It can still cause your system to BSOD so it guarantees you little.
While most drivers are indeed signed, editing the INF file or leaving the CAT behind will break WHQL certification.

As long as you stick to the latest official (non-beta) drivers you should be fine in most cases, WHQL or not smile

Roger that.
The DriverPacks are designed to only work with BASE.
It may work by extracting the 7-zip archive and using other methods, but that is not supported (and can hence lead to problems of unknown dimensions).
From what I have heared of other users, using all packs except for MassStorage (because of TextMode) works fine in nLite - however, you will miss all the exceptions the Finisher provides.

ghostE wrote:

Try it on VMware Workstation & the drivers works automatic {not what i want}

Well, you really don't NEED the DriverPacks on a VM.
Only thing required is to install the VM Addon to make all devices work.
It's virtual HW and DriverPacks are only for the real thing. smile

Try on a real machine and you will see it work just as I described in my earlier post.

You do not chose which to install.
XP setup will automatically install those drivers it detected HW for during setup.

If you do not use KTD, those drivers that no HW was found for will not stay on your hDD and waste any space, if that is your concern.

So I don't quite get your point in this.
The idea is to provide an unattended setup, that means there's no one sitting in front of the monitor waiting to tick some boxes so setup can continue.
I see that your screen has a timer built-in, but still.
That would mean you'd have to preselect some packs so it will install them if you miss the window.
And if you aren't going to do it unattendedly, you might as well manually install the packs.
This is already provided by either this method http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2264
or this http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2403.

PS: I take your "screen shot" as a concept drawing and not some actual GUI that works, right? wink

Server 2003 already supports a lot more MassStorage Controllers than XP does.
At least on the systems I tested, I never needed additional drivers to make it detect the RAID controllers etc.

Best idea would be to search for this file within the 3rd party DriverPack in order to find out which pack is affected.
We could then see which driver it is and maybe replace it by a newer or proper version.

Anyway, I am always using all 3pdps and I have never had this occurance before.

It could be linked to your HW somehow.

Best is to [CTRL]+[A]&[CTRL]+[C] your typing before submitting so you can easily restore it by going "back" in your browser, pasting and resubmitting.

I'm always trying to use British English in my posts since we aren't all that US-centred (<-- there, you see? wink).

Anyway, yeah, I'd certainly like to contribute to the Tut but apart from the critical lack of time on my hands (which directly relates to forum presence... hmm),

this kind of throws me out.
Plus, I guess I don't even have the default theme on my system (Luna is gone forever! Classic Theme FTW!) (as for continuity).

But I'm more than willing to do some proof-reading once again.
(Plus may writing a paragraph or two if i spot something missing)

AVG seems to spot more false positives than it does spot real infections.
One has to question the usefulness of such a programme because in the end it will desensitise the user ("ah, it's very well just another of those darn false-positives, so I'll ignore that alarm") making the entire idea of alarms rather pointless.

You'll be better off using another anti-virus programme such as NOD32 (personal pick of mine) or none at all, I figure...

It should work, but we want reports (good as well as bad) before we can release.

Hey, did you guys incorporate the AGP hotfix drivers (or rather the INF and reg entries) again?
As the 8.5 Hotfix have been released  (http://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBAn … onID=31542), I'm beginning to wonder whether the changes from official drivers to hotfix ones actually do change as the version counter increases or if it's just the same over and over again (meaning no additional work for us regarding this issue).
Still puzzles me when and if ATi will be as graceful to finally incorporate support into the official drivers (not that I mind much if the keep up with the monthly release schedule...).

Not only is it free (which is great already), but also open source, meaning you could even change it to your own personal needs (not sure if this is how the progress bar was implemented or whether that uses an already existing API).

Also, IMO, every system should get 7-Zip installed as the default packer/unpacker utility (this is not done by the DriverPacks, btw).
It simply beats the living cr*p out of WinZip and is better than WinRAR, too (did we mention it's free and OSS? wink).

Jaak wrote:

edit >> today Jeff and I went through the translation files and we saw the reason for the translation error pop-up in many of them.

I'd think so.

A lot of Translators haven't updated their files lately (including myself with a long-time delay...).
Thing is, there we quite some changes (new entries) to the LNG files, however, there never was an official announcement send out to the translators.
Now, I did catch news of this because I try to read all of the forum posts (Mod duty), so I noticed the complaints, plus, I was notified by two users via my contact details from my forum profile.

While there is info given about any Translator in the about section, either no one has taken the task to notify them (don't be shy, I'm sure they'll be glad to be told about it!) or they just aren't around anymore.
As there wasn't much to translate for a long time, many probably became lurkers or don't read the forum regularly at all and simply forgot about their "job" (which mainly was thought to be a one-time task anyway).

While I do parle un peut Français, I'd rather not try messing with the LNG file as it would probably turn out to sound too Germanesque, scarring some Frenchmen away tongue

So, either try getting in touch with the original Translator or just edit the file yourself.
I'd suggest contacting an Admin if you want to become a new/additional Translator for a langauge and I doubt any of the old Translators do mind continuing to work on their file if they do not reply to your request within one week (whows they either lost interest or are busy otherwise).

You must have system and hidden files being enabled to show for a proper copy of all (100%) of the disc's content.
Either enable that in Explorer's settings or make use of, say, nLite, for the task to copy from the disc to the HDD (that will definately copy all files regardless of Explorer's settings).

It was the most current... Thanks Helmi, You are a DriverPacks Hero!

LOL, I'll shine in that light for my 15 mins (if you give me that much ;p)

I will need to pay attention to that more closely in the future

Does the bugtracker not auto-report you new (resolved) entries?

It did send me a mail when you took over the issue.

Title says it all.
While the links have been available for over a week now, they were not linked to from MS's site (not that it matters/we care wink).
Now they do, so that counts as an official release in my book.

Grab it while it's hot if you need to (heared, servers were overloaded currently, I'm trying, got my copy a week ago already):

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta … 1555d4f3d4

Yeah, I managed to update the file just a couple of days (think it really was one or two) prior to the release of 8.05 (of which the date was unknown to me at that time).
Looks like someone didn't catch my entry in the bugtracker before releasing the file ;P

Anyway, we have a special translation forum for that, so you can post all issues you encounter regarding that feature in there.

Apart from that, it is totally legitimate to contact the translator of the specific file about any issues or (even better!) post them in the bugtracker.

Not saying you messed up this time, but there's always room for improvement! tongue
