yeah that is how I plan on testing the latest driver pack smile
plus I don't think that I want to throw some 4+ dvd's on testing a driver
I have a lot of work related stuff set up on my current installed system so I rely want to solve the issue rather then plan on how to start over.

would that not requre me to re install windows and make a new install disk?
I was able to revert to the 7.06 drivers buy using the las good known configurations from the winxp boot up menu and I would like to avoide re installing windows every time I have to update my drivers.
(updating my sound card and nvidia chip set worked fine)
I will gladly test the new pack on a temp disk once I get this issue solved.

when updating to nvidias 162.18 i got a BSOD after reboot, i tryed the normal installer and extracting the drivers and using the devicemaniger to update the grafic card - same thing.

the windows i installed was XP sp2 with all the driver packs intergrated, graphic A 7.06.

the grafic card in my machine is a GF8800GTS, is this a know issue and is there a way to solve it with out reinstalling windows?

are we not getting way off topic here?, this should be about adding a progress bar to the ktd process.

Hmm i it dosn't recompress? well i guess this harddrive is just slower then i expected then smile

800MB cds sunk in to the ground a couple of years ago, it's posible that i can dig somthing up at a shady shop thouhg. I never seen 900MB cd's

I blaim the sucky ISP not the user smile, maybe they should complain, moving contry seams a bit radical smile

No doubth i like this progress bar is way better then back when there was just a black screen with, had 2 users tell me it was frozzen because of that big_smile

Maybe i got sided tracked from the true purpos of unattended after all this testing in vpc tongue

DriverPack SmartCard Readers: 7.02 gives me 404

the correct link is http://3rdpartydriverpacks.thesneaky.co … -32_702.7z

This is the thing that we have to stair at for several minuts with onely the case HDD led as an indication that things are working.
A progress bar for this would be very much apriciated.

Just found this image, how comes he has som many registry changes an i alwayes have 1

Well the DPs_BASE already repacks the drivers so i was thinking it could simply compress them to one 7z or have this as an option, having the driver packs as seporate downloads like now is a greate idea.

If you trafic is limited your a fool, or maybe your living in a contry with very crappy ISP's...

I already striped my source with nLite, last time (2005) i striped the help files (~30MB) and only that way was able to fit every thing on a single CD.
I still have a few systems to maintain that have no dvd drive.

Yeah if nothing else this post can serve as a kind of tip/quide.

Anothere benifit of having just 1 file is that the gui extractor will how a total % instead of just the obscure 1/7 and a current %.

Somthing is wrong about that link, sayes that it can not process the directory (wount download or show any pages).

Yeah 7z should alert you if the archive is bad but this is just to be douple safe smile

ok cool, i guess maybe the text should be changed or probably just be removed then.

about 15MB can be saved if the drivers was compressed as a single 7z rathere then one for each pack.

i havent gone compleatly threw the sound drivers, but i can say that not all of them has been replaced in the sound pack A and or B, so any one looking to remove the duplicates and still keeping the once that are arent in the would have to do it manualy as nLite dosn't off a perdrivere removal.

Please update this topic it you do get in to removing some of the duplicates.

preaty shure about theas
3dfxvs.dll - Voodoo3 is pressent in the graphics B pack

ati2draa.dll - Ati Rage 128 is pressent in the graphics B pack
atidvag.dll - Ati Radeon is pressent in the graphics A pack

sis300ip.sys - SIS300 is pressent in the graphics B pack
(note i only listed one file from each driver)

stuff of witch i am in doubth:

sgiul50.dll, tridkb.dll - some Trident card, a Trident Cyberblade is present in the graphics B pack

s3nb.dll - i belive this is Twister or Savage witch is pressent in the graphics B pack but could also be VIRGE

mtxvideo.sys - matrox video in i belive

atibt829.sys. atidrab.dll, atimtag.sys cant tell witch one this is, oviusly Ati though so probably also in the graphics B pack

atirtcap.sys - video in for radeon, probably already pressent in the graphics A pack

atipcxxx.sys, atirtsnd.sys, atitunep.sys, atitvsnd.sys - some sort of video in drivere for some ati card.
ativttxx.sys - ati texttv decoder
ativxbar.sys, atixbar.sys - more ati stuff

watv03nt.sys - intel card not shure witch

sisgrp.sys, sisgrv.dll - not shure about thes, it's a SIS devices though smile

system manufactures would probably be more willing to buy a produt for there next line of computere if loading the driveres on to the restor cd was a brease and easy for the end user to use.

Older Graphic cards:
s3mtrio.dll - S3 Trio 3D/2x is pressent in the graphics B pack

rest of them seams uniqe and VERY old

I wonder if there is somting that could be done to make them aware of this issue, esily making a compleat drivere cd would mostlikly be benificial to them as well as us.

Same here tongue thoug i do subscribe to topic that are very importand to me.

Yeah it's not a bit deal about theas few extra files just thourght that i would make a note of it.

Ok i finaly got the drivers extracted and put in to catagorys i started eliminating them but it's a slow prosses and sofare it seams that there is very litte overlap.

Wlan:
srwlnd5.sys is for a 3com device so it might be overlapped by the drivere pack.
Not shure what wlandrv2.sys is for
the rest are not in the drivere pack.

Ill continue with the othere catagorys latere today.

It's sad that the vendors dosn't agree on a standard of how to make drivers so that somthin like this could be a pice of cake.

When intergrating with xp theas win9x files are left over

D\L\3\1 has some w9x*.* files, theas might be for othere platforms as well, but should probably be schruteniced
D\L\3\4 also holds some *9x*.* files witch seams to be specificaly for win9x
D\L\X\1 has ndiw9x.dll

are theas needed for xp as well?
