I know that driver.cab have Microsoft drivers for some base support, as for example, ATI

Integrating driverpacks, How many and Which of these controllers can be eliminated without problem? (because these are drivers old with respect to the versions that put the package, it is avoided duplicities that could get to generate conflicts and in addition the size of this file is reduced) obviously, after delete of these archives in its respective registries also, for example some that I have identified are those that say atixxxxxxx.xxx but profit not to identify them all, by the attention, thanks and excellent work, I congratulate them

I've always opted to NOT modify the driver.cab file, because if you do so, you must also modify the txtsetup.sif, the dosnet.inf and the drvindex.inf files to reflect the changes. The DriverPacks have always been created with the intention to be used as an EXTENSION for the default driver library of Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003, not as a complete replacement.

You can however remove most of the drivers included in it using nLite, if you really want to go on with this.

ok, I try to do this and test with a few beta tester people, if this works I return here to publish what was removed for anyone that is interest if there is no problem for that... and thanks for the response...

Has there been any progress on this?

Atleast it would be nice to know roughly what i can remove and if it works for both methode 1 & 2 of intergration.
I would hate to remove all drives just to find that every laptop with a touch pad now was with out a pointing device or somthing like that.
Is there even a list of what drivers are in the packs? i would expect so or it would be imposible to maintain.

do'h didn't notice the devices link, or atleast it didn't link in my mind smile
ill digg threw the list and compare it with nLite's list of what can be removed and then post my results here latere today.

Ok i finaly got the drivers extracted and put in to catagorys i started eliminating them but it's a slow prosses and sofare it seams that there is very litte overlap.

Wlan:
srwlnd5.sys is for a 3com device so it might be overlapped by the drivere pack.
Not shure what wlandrv2.sys is for
the rest are not in the drivere pack.

Ill continue with the othere catagorys latere today.

rest of them seams uniqe and VERY old

i havent gone compleatly threw the sound drivers, but i can say that not all of them has been replaced in the sound pack A and or B, so any one looking to remove the duplicates and still keeping the once that are arent in the would have to do it manualy as nLite dosn't off a perdrivere removal.

Please update this topic it you do get in to removing some of the duplicates.
