RE: it downloads them and installs them with dpinst
um if chipset and LAN drivers are not installed hoiw will you access the net?
see this topic please http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2264
You could just create a SAD disk (with just the missing 3rd party DriverPack's if you like)
That way you wont have to start over
you could have searched for - S.A.D. makes us happy
but here is the description / how to...
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 159#p20159
Have a great day and welcome to the forum
PS (it is stickied in the FAQ forum... please at least attempt to find stuff on your own)
The entire team apprecieates the kind words and we are happy you were successful.
tell toshiba no more toshiba products will ever be purchased by me... muhahahaha... and you have the last laugh
if they fail to realize that if a purchasing company has a hundred other laptops that are all on xp they dont want one odd ball. The MS EULA grants end users downgrade rights (Vista ultimate --> XP pro). their failure to cater to their clients needs by supporting their own product (providing the required and proprietary drivers for xp 2k3 and vista) should lead such a poorly run/managed company to bankruptcy and hopefully sooner than later. I have more than one horror story myself related to them. I will not even put one on my bench for service. for free i might use one to chalk the tires on my pickup.
Could you read the post in my signature "read before you post" and edit your first post with the missing info;
base ver - pack versions - did you use any of the 3rd party DriverPack? (like the one for modems?)
you providing the missing info will be invaluable to us in helping you.
Thank you very much for including the HWID's they are quite helpful!
Have a great day and Welcome to DriverPacks
PS i dont personaly consider a card reader a 'mass storage device' it's more of a micro storage device lol
It is not looking like a land-slide yet...
according to the news page we get 32 thousand downloads a day - on average
Less than a handful of people interested enough to post.
I do realize those votes could represent hundreds or thousands of other users
but if they wont even say hello, like this idea, and thanks for being here... shame on them
So it's enough interest to make it on the list, just not as a priority item -
they do say good things come to those who wait...
Main Team Present... where's the bomb? lol
re: (Why a plugin and not as a driver? )
remember ubcd4win and all bartpe projects are running off of a read only media. we cant update those files on the fly like we can in windows. so all of the files that reference the driver files must be updated in advance. this is done by pebuilder during the build process. if there is no plugin inf how is pebuilder to know it has something to get done?
think of teh plugin as a to do list for pebuilder - if you want a driver added you have to create a todo list for it.
so the answer is The plugin IS the driver.
as far as why the tape doesnt show up is ther is no PnP in BartPE the devices are detected on boot (setup (PnP) never runs) so it detects the controler because it is reported by bios and referenced in the correct windows files.
since we are not runing windows install a second pass is not made to detect child devices that are connected to primary devices.
if you want to detect child devices you must manually click on search for hardware ( There are a couple of shortcuts to do this from the start menu in UBCD4Win ) perhaps you could put a shortcut to the search for hardware in teh "all programs\startup" folder ;) taht would force a second detection.
Looks like you have been doing youir homework - very impressive - good job
have a great day and thanks for keeping us 'posted' :D
PS oemtext files are for support of Bootable mass storage controlers and since you can't boot from DLT... ;)
Thanks for the missing info
Welcome to DriverPacks and have a great day!
it is not unusual for a device to look strange in device manager in bartpe.
the only thing that truely matters is "does it work?"
PE is not a replacement for windows we dont need it to be pretty, just functional
we might trim this thread back into a request in Feat Req and link to a new topic here in Software.
we might also start with a good title like
"[Add-on] Select desired DriverPacks from Pop-up Menu list with a time-out feature (M2 only)"
A good Intro sentence like - Ever wished you could skip one or more of the packs during the install (or repair) on a particular machine?
Summarize the Why you Want / Like / Need and invested your personal time in this idea.
How to use and where to get
a reverse link back to the Feature Req topic here so we can keep track of interest in this potential feature.
Features are obviously prioritized by feedback so if we want this to make my to do list... rally the troups
PS since this would be a sub feature of attended installs (AKA 'repair' ) it is also a vote for that platform being added as well
could you check my signature for some helpful links.
I couldnt find any info about what pack versions and DriverPacks base version you had used in the post above.
the HWID's are quite helpful Thank You for those! yay.
if you havent used DriverPacks perhaps you could search our forum for "SAD disk" and read the posts at the end of teh stickied topic about our script and updateing a machine post install with DriverPacks
moved to feature request and stickied
added to to do list
it is a simple update so i think we can add it...
and it would speed up the process too
vista will absolutely be supported in 64bit...
XP, we will see...
I missed that... i just tripped over it at technet looking for a full file version of IE7.
quote:

file in use errror meaning perhaps that the file has already been copied?
please read the tutorial both included in base and linked in my signature especially titles and bold print
there is also a forum here just for BartPE. Please at least glance at the Stickied threads for some highlights.
I am also moving this topic to that forum.
Check out the sticky in the feature requests "To Do list" and the recent news on our home page.
the search feature works great and almost any question you may have is already answered here probably in great detail. please take a moment to look around and familiarize yourself with the basics and let us know if you have any more questions.
Thanks so much for stopping by an letting us know it is working for you and asking a good question and provideing good details about what your doing. It always makes it easier to help.
also please check out the sticky i link to in my post called 'read before you post'
Have a Great Day and Welcome to DriverPacks
if you find drivers that are not i8n the packs it is better to request them ans let us add them to the packs for you
in this way you dont have to add them every time we come out with a new pack and anyoine else who might need them will benefit too.
cross posting and double posting are not allowed this is also in the wrong forum as was the other post i moved already.
Thank you...
other post http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2912
yes to all
except cab compression
to trigger base into creating the cabs you will need an I386 source folder
It is not neccessary to use it after it creates your $OEM$\$1\$D folder (with the cabbed drivers)
but base will not cab them unless it detects a valid source.
so all of the above is possable (and i thought descibed well in the posts you refered to...)
except you will need a source os to cab the files. on the up side it wouldnt matter if it was XP, win 2000, or win 2003 as the source.
I would suggest to you that you could put the OEM folder with the 7zip archives on the cd with the script.
yes i realize that it extracts them to the local machine but it also removes them when it is done.
jsut a suggestion that gets the DriverPacks onto a CD without having to have a source OS.
First post updated
edited the Title wording and added [BUG]
I clarified the first line of the post to reflect the issue clearly.
I differ to mr_smartepants experience...
I can certainly figure it out... but he probably already knows the answer
no...
He is right there is a bug in the code. (haven't seen one of those in a long time )
But there is something odd about it. The finisher deletes the files before the reboot, however, it does place a runonce entry to double check that the D\ did get deleted and if it finds that it was not it then attempts remove it a second time. This happens at the same time as the finisher itself is deleted from runonce.
so to find this bug the finisher must fail to delete the files before the reboot and the backup removal must be needed. Since the error is related to a backup system it would indeed rarely surface, but is still a bug. This make me ponder the 'why' of the primary delete from the finisher failing. that is what relly intrigues me is WHY did the primary system fail that led us to the bug in the backup system?
I think this will probably get added to 8.06 and make it 8.07...
normaly the d folder is deleted before the reboot and that "backup" mechanisim is not needed as the primary function of deleteing the d\ folder is preformed by the finisher itself and not by the registry entry.
this is indeed a bug and as such should be reported at bugtracker, there is a link in the main forum.
I am still curious why it is not deleteing it -
is it possable you are doing something else that is causeing this folder to be in use?
very strange that this has never been reported before -
i would really like to know how this occurs / how to reproduce it...
the primary delete from finisher should work and i am sure is why you alone found that the 'backup mechanisim' for deleteing the files has a bug.
anyway it is an easy fix and i will implement it
