Topic: (RESOLVED)a205-s5000 2xp missing 2 drivers DriverPacks base 805

Toshiba Satelite a205-s5000 XPsp2

First of all let me say YOU GUYS ROCK! I slipstreamed my xpsp2 install disk with all the drivers and I was immediatly able to get on the net with this toshiba laptop. I called toshiba and they officialy shut me down saying NO XP MUHAHAHA.

The only two drivers I am missing are,

Mass storage controller *this has to do with the sd card slot on the front of the laptop.
PCI\VEN_104C&DEV_803B&SUBSYS_FF021179&REV_00\4&3B3A03B5&0&22F0

Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus *the audio works just fine. However the Function key is not working correctly. This bafled me for the fn is usualy hardware and not software.
HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&VEN_11C1&DEV_1040&SUBSYS_11790001&REV_1002\4&6499669&0&0101

Re: (RESOLVED)a205-s5000 2xp missing 2 drivers DriverPacks base 805

The entire team apprecieates the kind words and we are happy you were successful.

tell toshiba no more toshiba products will ever be purchased by me... muhahahaha... and you have the last laugh

if they fail to realize that if a purchasing company has a hundred other laptops that are all on xp they dont want one odd ball. The MS EULA grants end users downgrade rights (Vista ultimate --> XP pro). their failure to cater to their clients needs by supporting their own product (providing the required and proprietary drivers for xp 2k3 and vista) should lead such a poorly run/managed company to bankruptcy and hopefully sooner than later. I have more than one horror story myself related to them. I will not even put one on my bench for service. for free i might use one to chalk the tires on my pickup. wink

Could you read the post in my signature "read before you post" and edit your first post with the missing info;
base ver - pack versions - did you use any of the 3rd party DriverPack? (like the one for modems?)
you providing the missing info will be invaluable to us in helping you.
Thank you very much for including the HWID's they are quite helpful!

Have a great day and Welcome to DriverPacks

PS i dont personaly consider a card reader a 'mass storage device' it's more of a micro storage device wink lol

Re: (RESOLVED)a205-s5000 2xp missing 2 drivers DriverPacks base 805

Indeed.  There's a guy at work trying to sell his brand-new P300 Sattelite (3-wks old, bought for $1200) for about $900 out of frustration because he can't get XP working.  I'm tempted to buy it just because it's a great gaming notebook I can take on my 'trips' in addition to having a new mobile testing platform to replace my 4-yr old notebook.

Re: (RESOLVED)a205-s5000 2xp missing 2 drivers DriverPacks base 805

I very badly wanted to go Dell because they provide drivers all the way back to windows 95 for even their newest products.

Unfortunately, this laptop was $400 while the minimum that I could purchase a laptop from Dell for would be $500 + s/h + tax(very bad stats too.)

I hate being a soon to be college freshy thats tight on funds sometimes.  I hope that I edited the first post correctly.

Re: (RESOLVED)a205-s5000 2xp missing 2 drivers DriverPacks base 805

I'll bet that if you right click on the yellow icons in your device manager, tell the machine that you want to update driver, then sell it to search the internet, WU will find the drivers.

see this topic please http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2264

You could just create a SAD disk (with just the missing 3rd party DriverPack's if you like)

That way you wont have to start over big_smile

Re: (RESOLVED)a205-s5000 2xp missing 2 drivers DriverPacks base 805

Hey there... it's the middle of the night and I just happened upon this thread/forum... and I'm feeling generous.

To answer the original posters question, the drivers on the backup CD work with XP. I have this same laptop (from Wal-Mart for $398) and I installed XP the day I bought it. I spent a few hours searching for the drivers you need, until I decided to check the backup disk... guess what? Nearly all of the drivers on that disk work with XP. My modem and SD card slot works fine.

I'm duel-booting XP and backtrack right now.
