This is the HWID that is causing the problems:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_293E&SUBSYS_A0021458&REV_02\3&13C0B0C5&0&D8

Sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

Maybe we need a guide as to where we should post things ???

Just did a G31 chipset motherboard (GigaByte GA-G31MX-s2)

The following DID NOT load

Realtek ALC888/S/T @ Intel 82801GB ICH7 - High Definition Audio Controller [A-1]    PCI

Missing "UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio"

This driver needs to load before the Realtek 880/888 series

WHOOPS  -  I didn't realize I had posted in the Vista section.

As XP SP3 is now RC1 I agree the code is almost Gold.

Just tested with all the latest packs and MASS Test pack on a GigaByte GA-MA69GM-S2H.

AMD 690G North Bridge  -  AMD 1250 Video  -  Realtek AL889A Sound  -  Realtek 8110XC NIC  -  RAID Onboard

Worked like a charm, found every component. Forgot to run HWID before the PC went out.

Great work.

Will check this weekend with an Intel G31 chipset.

Now that XP SP3 is widely available, how about a modification of DP Base so it will see SP3 and not error with KB888111 saying SP1 or SP2 not installed.

What are your thoughts on the closure of AutoPatcher by the Microsoft Legal Team.

Made a new DVD WITHOUT the 3rd Party HP drivers and life is good this morning.

The HP PSC 2355 install ran without a problem and found the correct driver.

Something is wrong with the HP driver.

Enjoy your weekend. I will, the problem child is fixed.

Hi there Jaak

I used Method 2 with KTD and I always clear QSC.

The problem is not with the unpacking, it's a conflict between the 3rd Party HP Drivers and the HP supplied printer drivers.

The 3rd Party Drivers seem to take over and tries to install the wrong driver, the HP installation then fails.

Stuart

Have a client with a HP PCS 2355 All-In-One.

Used the latest full file from HP and it always said "incorrect driver file" when we connected the printer (USB). We spent over an hour with two Indian ladies from HP, they were very helpful but did not have answers.

I downloaded the "Driver" only version from HP and did a fresh install, it always looked in the folder:

Windows\DriverPacks\D\D\3\P\H\HPZC3212.DLL

Even if I told it to look elsewhere it is taking the rest of the files from the above and does not work.

Not a complaint, rather an FYI.

I am going to try and remove the HP section of the DriverPacks.

Edit: removed the Windows\DriverPacks\D\D\3\P\H\ folder, that did not help.

p.s. He also has a PhotoSmart 3180 and tried to connect to a brand new Vista box, the HP "Full Pack" is missing drivers. Way to go HP.

OK, so where is the option to "Enable SFC"

This is all I requested. If it is an option, I will be a happy man.

No idea why that happened, other than it's Monday.

Found this article re: ATI 7.7 drivers.

Comments etc. Look at page 8. (Final thoughts)

This is during Textmode (F6 section). In theory you should have access to the HD after that driver loads AND format has completed.

On the F6 floppy thing. If you are using XP with SP2 it is smart enough to look at the floppy drive during install and choose a driver (hopefully the correct one) and load it and install it in the drivers section as a part of the install.

A USB external seems to work better than an internal one and they are certainly cheap enough now.

I am amazed that Microsoft does not allow USB Flash Drives etc. to be used.

So am I, this sounds very useful.

Hi there Jaak, been on vacation, first in 3 years.

This fixes the problem with MSVHOST taking 100% CPU resources (Windows Update Service)
(this problem has been getting worse for the last 2 months)

It will ship on May 22nd but is being issued on MSDN right now.

I downloaded and installed without problem and it fixed the CPU usage problem I was having.

Good to know about the slowest speed idea, I will try over the weekend.

These RW's are about 3 years old and were unused until a couple of weeks ago and have only been used maybe 6-7 times and are dropping data.

May try doing a full format and try again.

Thanks for the input.

Just made a couple of DVD/RW's with the latest DriverPacks and had problems with freezing during install or missing files.

Have used these in the past and they worked OK, yes I did a format (quick)

Put the same ISO's onto DVD+R and they worked flawlessly. I think I am willing to spend 20 cents every time and know it works.

Your opinions-reactions on this would be welcome.

Learning more.

I should have said during the DriverPacks Finisher when using KTD.

Would be nice if you could put the progress bar used during DriverPack extraction
during the Finisher section.

It's difficult to tell if the PC has frozen or not during the Finisher.

FYI

This fixed the problem

1. Boot into safe mode
2. Disable automatic updates in Windows
3. Reboot system into normal mode
4. Do a manual Windows update
5. Enable automatic updates in Windows
4. Reboot once again

Can't wait until "patch Tuesday" in May to see what Microsoft screws up next.

Is it me, or is Microsoft's patch testing almost non existent.

Thanks for the advise Helmi

p.s. I like your politically correct "hiccup" rather than my more abrupt "screwup"

Just had 2 PC's that I reloaded XP on. Everything worked perfectly until the client got it home and loaded the only 3 MS updated available.

These were:

Root Certificate
KB905474 Genuine Advantage
KB890830 April Malware Scanner

Under instruction, they opened in Safe Mode, choose NO and did a System Restore prior to these updates.

Everything OK

Microsoft wanted lots of money from me to try and resolve this, its their problem !!!!!

Hope this helps.

Went back to a "New out of the box XP Pro SP2B" and that worked OK with the F6.

There must be a reference in the Mass Storage section that causes a:

Setup was unable to copy: jraid.sys

Tried different versions of the driver etc with the 7.04 DVD, all had same problem. The basic Windows disk worked OK.

Would post in the Testing Forum but I do not have rights to create a topic.

Using a GigaByte GA-965G-DS3 Mobo with a JMicron JMB 363 RAID with 2 x Hitachi SATAII 160g HD's (mirrored)

Had to make a diskette for the F6 thing.

Just a heads up.

Had a major problem finding a decent driver, the CD was useless.

If you need the driver(s) please let me know, I have a zip file, these work.

FYI:  I have problems with modern Mobo's and floppy drives. With the F6 thing I find it better to set the BIOS
to NO floppy and load the F6 driver from a USB floppy.

Sometimes the inbuilt floppy will see the driver the first time (F6) and then when the format is done
and the drivers load the "F6" will not read from the inbuilt floppy, less problem with the USB floppy.

Thought the same thing last night but waited until this morning to download because of the DDoS attack.

Will try it again this morning.

Thanks for the reply.
