Topic: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

If you're an adventurous sort of person, we need you!
Please download and test the new Graphics driverpacks.  These DriverPacks include a new method of installing the ATI Catalyst Control Center as well as all new drivers for all platforms (see changelog).
If you plan to use the new ATI CCC, you MUST have .NET installed for it to work properly.  Private testing has proved that ATI CCC will not install properly if .NET is integrated at GUIRunOnce or at RunOnceEx, but integrating .NET at SVCPACK (T-13) was successful.  If you would/would not like to see .NET integrated into the DriverPacks, please leave us feedback.

After you've tested the DP, please report back to this thread with your hardware type and test results (pass/fail) as well as any errors you receive during testing.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Good catch.
Sorry about that.  First post updated.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

D\G\N\1 works fine on my geforce 7900GT.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

I just tested on a desktop x300 radeon.  No errors!  smile

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Hi!

Tested with a Desktop Geforce 7600GT with no errors. :-)

Thanks,
Alex

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

If you've tested this pack and have not yet reported back, please do so now.

We are in the process of finalizing the DP and need feedback now!

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Can you add this one to the firts post maybe?

Thank you!

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

I tried this pack and for me it didnt work the display device wasnt installed I have a 7600GT card.

However this is the first time I have ever used driverpacks so I may have did something wrong, all the other driver packs I used did work tho (lan, chipset, mass storage).

Can you try the release DP?  If it still doesn't work, please post your HWIDs, your DPbase ini file and your logfiles.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

yep waiting on shipment of a new dvd drive for the old pc, when it arrives ill do a new xp cd and install on that, it has a nvidia 5500 card which has no drivers by default so I should still be able to see if the driverpack works.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

D\G\N\1 Updated from 93.71 to 94.24 (mr_smartepants)

OK, I just verified that this update does NOT work on an older HP notebook with GeForce Go 420M. sad
I even downloaded the drivers for "Geforce 4 series" and put in the custom INF file to support it and it didn't work.  Only downloading the drivers from HP (c 2005) worked.
Sigh.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Erik, do you have an uncabbed copy of nvucode.bi_ in the latest Nvidia drivers?

I extracted files for Dell Lattitude 820, but nvucode.bin_ will not uncab.

The lattitude driver is fairly recent, and when I looked, these models did NOT appear in NV4_go.INF .

yesterday I had a look at nv4_go.inf, then added the stuff these models need, and the only thing that is stopping me from making a TESTpack on NVidia, is that this nvucode.bin file is still cabbed.
(an original nv4_go.inf does NOT have it in the list of "files", but the lattitude's INF does have that.)

sad

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

I'll check my folders when I get home for nvucode.bin.
*Edit
I don't have that file.

The .cmd file in the Dev area is wrong.  You need to add the following lines of code in the appropriate places to uncab the .bi_ files.

ren *.bi_ *.bin

The website we get the NV4_go.inf files may have dropped those HWIDs because they're unsupported (or because they screwed it up).  The drivers in the DP G\N\1 folder don't support GeForce4 cards.  The nVidia site recommends the older drivers (from DP 7.04).

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

aha?
I used the universal extractor, and that was how I got the files
(with that nvucode.bi_ which has possibly simply not been renamed when extracter did this?)

well, let's see wether it works.
I'll upload a testpack for the poster with that dell lattitude to rapidshare.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

tested on nvidia 6600. ok

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

hardware is here will hopefully do today.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Please do not use the test DP, instead use the release DP on the main page.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Hello mr_smartepants,

I have a bug that had been introduced with the last version of Graphics_A. My install freezes at T-34. Here is a post where i describe the problem :
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1690

Do you know how can we solve the problem ? Do you need extra info ?
Kal

EDIT : Here is the hwid niformation of my graphic card :
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0167&SUBSYS_81C9104D&REV_A1\4&266C3FA7&0&0008: NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

ok guys I used the same cd for my 2nd pc as for this pc so didnt reintegrate.

Watched the driver extraction at start of gui setup and confirm it extracts the testpack.

I then noticed the screen flicker during detect devices which is a sign it was detcting the gfx.

Confirmed at end of install accelerated installed graphics driver on first boot.

So this works fine on a agp geforce fx 5500 but didnt work on my pci express asus 7600GT.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

works fine  on a 7900GT and a 7800GTX here

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Just a heads-up that I'm working on the new Catalyst 7.6 driverset now.  The problem is that ATI hasn't released their mobility 7.6 drivers yet so I'm on hold for that.  I'll be uploading a Graphics_A test DP with ONLY the ATI drivers when it's done.  I'm not sure how to handle the nvidia disparity.  We may have to create new folders N\1, N\2, N\3, etc to handle the different drivers.

I don't know what's going on with the nVidia drivers.  They should be working fine. sad
I'll try breaking them down again and see where I went wrong.

First post updated with new driverpacks to test A, B, & C! smile

*Edit
I found a few bugs with the .inf file supplied by nVidia.  It references files not included in the latest release.  The first file I found referenced was "nvcodins.dll".  I'm downloading the international nVidia package again to see if I can find these files.  It's probably something I did unpacking the installer.  More to follow. <drinks large scotch> smile
*Edit #2
Found the line where "nvcodins.dll" was renamed "nvcod.dll"...all is well.  <refills the scotch> big_smile
*Edit #3
Found entries in [DestinationDirs] not referenced anywhere else in the .inf (desktop or mobility).
nv.nViewHelp          = 18
nv.nViewPanel         = 11

For those of you encountering issues on nvidia_go hardware, unpack the archive, go to D\G\N\1 and open nv4_go.inf, delete those two references and repack the archive and try again.  This sctoch is going to my haed...<drooools> smile
I'm going to try and create these missing entries...tomorrow and reupload.  Test #3 coming soon.
