And folders names are irrelevant.

ROFL... And this is why your custom pack fails...

Post a link to your pack and we will tell you how you messed it up. wink
At least post the contents of \D\S\z6\STHDA.inf and your DriverPack INI file...

the DriverPacks Finisher is not the problem... It is definately your custom pack that is the issue.

Moved to 3rd party DriverPack forum, Not seemingly a DriverPacks BASE related issue.

PS Almost never? We have to have a contingency for the ALMOST too... As you already realize Almost is a long way from NEVER. and since you had to say ALMOST then you have answered your own question... right?

did you take a look a Woo Woo's monitor pack?

Rather than createing a second post here... Which is a no no (crossposting is frowned on here) perhaps you should link to the other post on the UBCD4Win forum wink

At least if we are going to allow you a crosspost lets put this one in the Mass Storage forum instead of a second one in the PE forum big_smile.

Moved

same reason... DVD is to slow. each device would have to wait for the entire 3 gig of drivers on the DVD to be searched. At DVD speeds. It is faster to copy them to the HDD first so that the searches are at HDD speeds not the painfully slow DVD speeds...

I am begining to tire of answering this same question over and over again...
We are already doing this the fastest way possible.
no one in five years has been able to figure out how to do it any faster. we get over 6 million downloads a month and have been getting feedback from our users for seven years....

If you like you can  (on your own time) try to find a faster way to do it THEN let us know what it is.
If you are able to do this then you are smarter than hundreds of millions of other IT professionals.
Otherwise i consider this question "Asked and Answered" wink

Have a great day!

ODD (Optical Disk Drives) Are very slow... the only thing that a ODD is slower at than coping a large file off is copying thousands of small files...

WE have done extensive testing on this... it is actually much faster to extract the archives to the HDD than to copy the uncompressed files off the ODD... Belive it or not we also have recently discovered it is even faster to first copy the archives to the HDD and then extract them.

Try it yourself wink

extract all the files and burn them to DVD then time a copy to HDD. Compare that to extracting the archives from the HDD. then compare that to copying the archives first to the HDD then extracting them...

We have been doing this for seven years if there were a faster way we would be doing it.

BTW we are going to be making copy the archives to HDD then extract an option (M3)

If you goal is to increase speed? then copying thousands of tiny files off an ODD is not the answer, that is / would be MUCH slower than the current method.
related post / discussion is here http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3323

Again please test for yourself... Post your results if you like wink

If it is your desire to have the drivers uncompressed and used as part of your installation... You can't

The maximum path length for the oempnp entry in winnt.sif file is 4096 characters. We exceeded that years ago.

Tell me what you are trying to do and perhaps I can offer a soution.

if you run nLite after DriverPacks then you will blow up the DriverPacks drivers - period - don't do that (you realize this already thanks for reading the documentation!)

Yes there is a "fix" however i would like to pint out that DriverPacks does not support "Attended Installations" Repair is an attended install...

there is quite a lot if info on the site if you search for "repair" wink

let me link you to what you seek

Here is the request to make this a DriverPacks BASE feature... http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2733
the thread that started it and has the "fix"  is here http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 821#p20821
You can read the whole thread if you like but i linked you directly to the pertinent info...

Welcome to DriverPacks

regards Jeff

PS Doing a repair is the worst possable thing you can do to a windows install.
- I would advise you to NEVER do a repair. if your only option is to do a repair, then it is time to backup all the user data and reload clean and reload the user data. the mess that is left behind by a repair is just monumental. think of it as putting a bandaid on a wound that needs 20 stiches.

I don't know... I am on the beta / development team over there I will have to drop by and see what they have in process thanks for the heads up... again

I used to use rewritables for that but they tend to fail frequently... I just burn DVD's each time now especially since they are like $20 for 100. At the cost of 2 cents each who cares if it ends up as a coaster wink.

Nvidia nforce drivers have always sucked... some things don't change. See if you can find a RIS driver for it those will generally work well in PE. That is the best suggestion i have until cdob or Hilander999 stops by or until i can sit down with the mass pack and see if i can puzzle it out. again Nforce / nvidia drivers are just the worst POS to deal with. No other drivers are any where near as much of a PITA. They are just very poorly written.

OK... We will need to make some updates to DriverPack MassStorage...

In the time being you can disable the DriverPacks mass plugin and try to manually add it with the scsi folder method... you can still help us by providing a link to the driver that works with your controller

Thanks a million for helping us to help you, and everyone else with your hardware!

Jeff

I could guess that in winbuilder the HWID must be associated with the driver in the txtsetup... Just like for windows...
with a DriverPacks slipstream this is accomplished with the mass storage INI file wink. Often times the list of HWIDs in our INI is very different than the list that is actually contained in the drivers inf... Perhaps that helps you? - In other words you may be able to manually ad the entry to the txtsetup and make it work big_smile

from what i can tell PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27C1&CC_0106 is supported in DriverPack MassStorage 9.01 In folder I3 and should work... ?
More... the specific entries for text mode (what i'll assume is used for winbuilder's Mass support) are referenced / contained in txtsetup (and not in the drivers infs). we populate the txtsetup based on the info contained in the Mass Storage DriverPacks INI file... The drivers  INFs are only used by Plug n Play... BartPE and like kind software (perhaps winbuilder) don't use the drivers inf at all but rely completely on the info in txtsetup alone.

we don't have any "updated" builds... just betas / alphas

We don't post those in the public forum. We have a testing team for evaluating the nightlies.

Drivers are installed by HWID. is that devices HWID included in that drivers inf?

IDK how winbuilder works... so i can't tell you how to deal with that issue. They do have a forum for that wink

yes mass 10.x requires DriverPacks BASE 10.x

If you only use drivers twice a year then stick to the official releases wink

code ten means hardware failure (physical)... that may not be the case... but that is what it means.

In other words code ten is not helpful info. more helpful info would be does it work if you use M2 that would indicate that M1 failed. and certain drivers will absolutely fail at M1. Method one extracts and cab compresses the drivers... this may cause errors in certain drivers and since there is absolutely no valid reason to waste the time doing it. Dont do it... (you have given us no valid reason for you to use m1)

Why do you insist on useing M1?

M2 was designed and implemented to replace M1 and it has... M1 was only kept around for backward compatability. since we have been using m2 successfully for over 5 years that makes m1 pretty much retired...

to repeat myself just use m2 and call it a day, unless you have some specific reason to use m1 that you have not revealed to us, as far as you have told us there is absolutely no reason for you to use M1 and since it may cause issues don't do it. simple. Not only that but the extraction and cab compression can take forever to run. (needlessly)

M1 is basically retired... jsut use M2 and call it a day wink

It is a no no to post the link out in the open... Ususally we will enclose it in code tags or in [ URL= link ] packname [ /url ] tags... Since any post here shows up in google in about 30 seconds we don't direct link them. People who are resourceful enough to actually read the forum we figure can handle issues related to alpha/beta releases. Nightly packs are not for the inexperienced - we are not a noob friendly site wink. I posted a hint in response to his other post / request  "/Nightlies/NT5/".  soporific seems bright enough to connect the dots tongue. This was not done as a security measure there was just too much confusion. people were just accidentally grabbing the wrong nightlies, LOL, so we split them into seperate folders by type (NT5 and NT6) to make it easier. nothing secretive or covert, just a simple matter of re-organization as a result of our growth.

you can PM a link if you like you can even post it here in code tags if you like. Just don't 'Hot link' to them big_smile.

PS i was amused that soporific already knows where the nightlies are but could not find the latest mass pack... he's going to smack himself on the forehead when he gets there... DOH!

PSS We want to release DriverPack MassStorage it is just so dificult to get right and so disasterous if wrong... It takes lots of testing and lots of work to get it right it is 10 (maybe 100) times more difficult than any other pack

@tU LOL... noob? you have been here over three years ROFL... Welcome back wink

apparently you already know where the nightlies are... thats them... have at!
(you looked in the /Nightlies/NT5/ folder right?)

We NEVER post those links out in the open... Google must have a dedicated bot just for this site wink.

The old nightly server is on NightmareHost er I mean Dreamhost... we have been trying to eliminate them for a year now. and no we are not ever going back, not for any reason... period.

the only problem with the nighliy server is/was related to mozilla type browsers, useing IE works fine

That is GOOD! that is what you should see on the plugins page...

I will let you try a nightly pack to see if that works better.

1. Open DPs_BASE.exe and download LAN and WLAN, if you want them, from the updatechecker page.

2. Then add this mass pack mass 9.09.rc6. to the Driverpacks folder (Same place as the LAN and WLAN packs you just downloaded from DriverPacks BASE)

3. Then from pebulder highlight NO # driverpacks.net - BASE. Hit the config button and that will update your plugins, then rebuild, and burn a new iso, and then test and report back. TIA

are you using SAD or slipstreaming them into your install

1,196

(13 replies, posted in BartPE - UBCD4Win - WinPE)

XP Pro SP2 is the prefered source to use... Excellent! Retail and Corp are mutually exclusive... you have retail... wink

Tell me this, if you open PE builder and hit the Plugins button (see the tutorial in my signature for pics and details).
Do you see this line?

'Yes # DriverPacks.net - Mass Storage'

Note if you add drivers to the  SCSI folder  you have to disable DriverPacks.net mass storage on the plugins page or your drivers will fail!
This is stated in reverse in the tutorial. IE you have to disable / remove the SCSI folder to enable DriverPacks.net mass storage...

How the Heck are we supposed to help you find drivers? For all we know you are running Linux... In which case you are REALLY lost wink tongue
How about tossing us a bit of useful info here
Windows 2000?
Windows XP?
Windows 2003?
Windows Vista?
Windows 7?

What service pack?

which version
Home?
MCE?
Pro?
Enterprize?
Ultimate?

which distribution
OEM?
Retail?
Corporate?
MSDN?

I already tried to give you a push in the correct direction here...
ACPI\AuthenticAMD_-_AMD64_Family_15_Model_107_-_AMD_Processor_model_unknown\_0
ACPI\AuthenticAMD_-_AMD64_Family_15_Model_107_-_AMD_Processor_model_unknown\_1
Is your AMD processor
AMD processors are covered by the DriverPacks CPU pack (not the Misc pack)
Did you try to use the SAD (Stand Alone Drivers) feature of DriverPacks BASE? (is SAD how you tried the Misc pack?)
You should try the CPU pack with SAD if you haven't yet. Again this is not a big deal, the proccesor will not run any better... pretty much all the cpu driver does is to make the yellow exclamation point go away in device manager... wink.  A rose by any other name tongue.

Further as stated in the linked post http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=4422

go to http://www.downloadwindowsdrivers.info and follow to your HWID  ACPI\AuthenticAMD_
several drivers can be found... http://www.downloadwindowsdrivers.info/ … enticamd_/
Although CPU drivers are not needed and won't really make your computer run any better or worse.

Same for finding the other ones...
although if i were you i would go to the OEM providers site for them... Dell, HP, Acer, whomever built the PC or notebook. (you failed to mention what it was).

by googling ACPI\PNP0C0C\2&daba3ff&2 It looks like this is a CPU fan or Battery for a laptop...
Is this a laptop? what kind? did you try their site for drivers?

You need to help us to help you. Details are the key.

Providing the HWIDs was a good start! (had you not included that info in your first post you would have gotten no response at all)
It would be kind of like asking us "why won't my transportation go?"
There is No Where Near enough info to go on - based on that statement we don't even know how many wheels it has - or even if it has wheels!!! (Is it Gas, Diesel, Electric, Hybrid, Propane, Hydrogen, Pedals, Sails, Oars, Propeller, Jet... AMC, Boeing, Ford, Harley, Schwinn, Susuki, Toyota, Waverunner, Zonda)

you can't use mass 10.x without using DriverPacks BASE 10.x as well. the last version of DriverPack MassStorage that works with DriverPacks BASE 8.12.x is the 9.07 release candidate

your processor and a shortcut button (like an IE shortcut button on a laptop or keyboard)

Please note:
from our rules and Posting Guidlines that you agreed that you read when you signed up.

If you create a post that says "I am looking for a driver for..."
(Especially if you have not used the DriverPacks at all.)

Then it's obvious that you failed to read this post and your welcome here may not be as warm and fuzzy as you might like.
The above mistakes are considered Noob like behaviors...
We are not and have never been a noob friendly site.
    - Note to Newbies:
The label Noob is not assigned based on a perceived level of experience,
but rather for showing a lack of resourcefulness, (Did you try to help yourself?)
or failing to demonstrate some effort was made to help us to help you. (omission of key details)
You are expected to already be familiar with everything in this guide.
    http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/
If you ask a question that is covered in that manual then you will receive a demerit.

as it tells you in the linked post most HWIDs are Googleable (STFW)

We don't find drivers for people, AND this is the DriverPacks support forum... If you have not used DriverPacks then you have no need to post here wink tongue.

Thank you in advance for understanding and for taking the time to read the FAQs, documentation and rules.

Well the answer seems obvious to me...

From your log

2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT> Start scanning for DriverPacks for the wnt5_x86-32 platform.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT>     Could not detect any (official) DriverPacks.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT>     Could not detect any 3rd party DriverPacks for wnt5_x86-32.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT>     Finished scanning.

UBCD4Win came with the mass storage plugin prebuilt and ready to go... no user action is required.
the UBCD4Win download only includes the prebuilt plugin not the mass storage pack itself. (to save space)

by running the BASE program (or hitting config in PEBuilder) with no mass storage pack you DELETED the included mass storage plugin. therefore you have no support at all for any mass storage controllers beyond those included with windows.

Check the tutorial for help. (linked in my signature, included in the docs folder of BASE and available by hitting 'Help" button in pebuilder.

Welcome to DriverPacks.

Note:

Adding chipset drivers will absolutely crash your UBCD4Win disc. wink Chipset drivers are not supported... Neither is sound. It's not Windows, it's PE, and there is a HUGE difference.

If you built your disc BEFORE running BASE, and before adding chipset then please let me know that wink
IE did you build your disc with the "out of the box" settings? (as downloaded without changes)

Tell me more about HOW you "have added the drivers for chipset and LAN from ACER". Added to what... your source? as a plugin? Details!?

PSS can you be more detailed about "My XPCD will also BSOD."?
Do you mean the if you drop your OEM (unmodified) XP CD in and attempt setup or repair?

PSSS - WHAT VERSION AND TYPE AND SP LEVEL IS YOUR XP SOURCE??? (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
for example
"XP Pro, Corp, sp2, no hotfixes or updates" or
"XP MCE, OEM, no SP, no updates" or
"XP Home, retail, Nlited with SP3 and all updates"
