Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

Wow, you must be using a really old DriverPack Sound B.  I only kept DriverPack Sound B archives back to v805 and that folder doesn't exist even back then.
That exception no longer exists in the release candidate.
Please post your DPs_BASE.log, or at least tell us which DriverPacks you used.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

mr_smartepants ??, what is the difference, what driverpack I use? Drivers for IDT I update myself and not use your driverpacks for this. And folders names are irrelevant. I asked the question about the finisher, and why is not working check HDAUDIO HWIDs from INF.

I don't now about version of my Sound_B driverpack - download it long time ago and update this myself.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

We support the DriverPacks that WE build.  If you build your own, then you support them. wink
The DriverPacks Finisher requires specific entries in each pack .ini to work properly.
If you've updated your own pack, then chances are that YOU broke the DriverPacks Finisher .ini entries. wink
If you read the documentation in the DriverPacks BASE\docs\DriverPack_reference_wnt5_x86-32.ini file then you will see.
And folder names are VERY relevant.

We will help you fix it, but you have to provide the details we need.
Post the content of your DriverPack Sound B .ini and a screenshot of the folder structure and contents of the broken folder.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

And folders names are irrelevant.

ROFL... And this is why your custom pack fails...

Post a link to your pack and we will tell you how you messed it up. wink
At least post the contents of \D\S\z6\STHDA.inf and your DriverPack INI file...

the DriverPacks Finisher is not the problem... It is definately your custom pack that is the issue.

Moved to 3rd party DriverPack forum, Not seemingly a DriverPacks BASE related issue.

PS Almost never? We have to have a contingency for the ALMOST too... As you already realize Almost is a long way from NEVER. and since you had to say ALMOST then you have answered your own question... right?

The DriverPacks, the DP_Base program, and Support Forum are FREE!.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

At least post the contents of \D\S\z6\STHDA.inf and your DriverPack INI file...

Believe me, I am well aware of how the finisher works and where and what needs to be changed in the INI files. smile

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

I am more than Happy to fix a BUG but first It is up to you to demonstrate that one exists.

You (initially) failed to provide any info that indicated that a bug exists and certainly failed to provide any of the details requested in 'read before you post'. We have not had an issue with the finisher in many years, If you wish to claim there is a bug it is not unreasonable for us to expect you to DETAIL the problem. your fault entirely. You simply saying "you have a bug fix it". does not "help us to help you". you were attempting to be helpful... but...  the info you provided (in your first post) was not helpful at all.

Now that you have included bare minimum details we will be reviewing them now... Had you provided those details to begin with this thread may have gone differently for you big_smile. After that last statement you had better pray that it is a bug... because if it is user error i am going to have big fun with you wink tongue.  If it actually is a bug then I gladly will address it. Immediately big_smile.

Code tags added to your post for you...
Please review our rules and posting guidelines especially RULE #0

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

Let's see the entire DPsFnshr.log please - unedited
Please also include the output of the HWIDs tool linked in my signature.

(this may require you to split the file into multiple posts or for you to provide a link to it on rapid share, or a similar site)
Please use code tags. you can edit your post to see how that is done.

Thanks for following up with better details. In order to find and fix a bug it is necessary to be able to repeat it. From Rule #0:

6. Tell us what you did - Could we try to reproduce your issue ourselves just based on your first post?

Clearly the answer to that is, NO wink (No terse responses or LOL's when you follow the rules / guidelines... fair enough?)

Help us to help you... It's called "read BEFORE you post" for a reason. big_smile (AKA "Rule #0")

I still don't have enough info to help you. Although it seems (from the limited info you provided) as though a HWID was not matched I am still not in a position to be able to cause the issue to happen here on my bench in my presence. Then debug the input, process, and output. Then identify the problem and provide a fix / workaround or expose user error (by user error I mean a mistake in the OEM INF or your packs INI or the packs layout or whatever - AKA GIGO)

In Example (IE) since you updated the pack with a driver, then please link us to that driver... If you edited the INF, please also include a copy of the entire INF that includes your edits. Same thing for the packs INI, Please provide the section(s) you edited - Even better if you provide the entire INI file. - We need to be able to reproduce the error by testing it for ourselves. - tongue big_smile (The very best option is to provide your custom DriverPack to us for review)

Do you now understand what I need from you... and why?
Do you understand now why what you did was frustrating for me / us?
I realize that your primary language is Russian.
Just to be clear we were not being mean or hateful. We were not ignoring you or putting you off.
Just giving you a deliberate shove in the right direction.
I really don't care about grammar or vocabulary. Many of our users do not speak English as their primary language. I would rather struggle through bad English than to not have enough info to go on. Capice?

Regards
Jeff

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

Yes, this looks very odd.  I can see a little of what you're saying now.
But Jeff is right.  We need to see the unedited versions of the DPsFnshr.log from each affected system.  Please upload them to a free download site (mediafire/rapidshare/FTP)
The HWIDs from those systems should be within each DPsFnshr.log anyway so you shouldn't need to run the HWID tool separately.

Also, I got the same response about two years ago when I reported a DriverPacks Finisher bug (wildcard bug) when both Wim and Jeff said "there's nothing wrong with the Finisher!".  Then followed by "Oops, yeah we'll fix that". big_smile

We aren't ignoring you.  We look into every bug reported.  But we need more info to resolve this properly.

Ok, Jeff, sorry for missing code tags. I read the rules, but english is not my language from born - don't understand all. wink
Thank you, mr_smartepants, I understand - now everything will wink

Now were getting somewhere!

Thanks for helping us to help you and making DriverPacks better for everyone!

@mr_smartepants... I seem to remember it took quite a while to eventually find and squash that bug to... Sorry again.

@YikxX When we're wrong we admit it! big_smile Just be aware that it doesn't happen very often. It has taken mr_s several years to score less than a handful of bugs and he is here every day wink. With that in mind... Please accept my best wishes for your success followed by my apology big_smile.

Jeff

PS Bad English is no problem! Just do your best. If it does not translate well then I will just ask you to try again. Usually I can understand what you are attemting to say just fine. Don't worry about it at all. The best thing you can do is to tell me as much as you can. I don't care about how well written it is. It is only frustrating when I am not given the whole story. Tell us as much as you know and don't worry about if it is good english. It's much better to go through a bunch of bad English than to not get the whole picture.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

OK, I had a quick look.
Your HWID for the Radeon HD3200 is not supported.  I'll have to fix that.  What screen resolution do you request?
Also.
What exactly did NOT work with the Sound \z6\ exception for DriverPacks Finisher?
Although the .inf isn't referenced in the finisher array.  It looks OK to me.

VEN_FLASH&PROD_BY_YIKXX&REV_1.00\B4A518000052&0
Is definitely not a valid HWID...
That looks a lot like he corrupted one or more of his devices BIOS...
All it would take is one invalid HWID to cause the program to exit the loop that creates the array of HWIDs.

I am sure that this is the result of a faulty modification he has made to an included driver INF...
without YikXx telling us truthfully and completely what he has done I can't identify his error.
However i have seen enough evidence to believe he screwed the pooch on this wink
No pack ever produced by us or Greg or SamLab or anyone else has ever had this issue.
Hundreds if not thousands of packs... Yet only his packs have an issue??? (GIGO)

I see no evidence of a finisher bug... at all.
I am not able to create or repeat his issue... Can you?

Since this error can not be demonstrated, I can not offer a solution. (I can't tackle a ghost.)
I am tired of asking him to provide details... Perhaps his reluctance is related to some association with unsavory activities.
He just needs to cough up the pack that causes this issue so I can show him his mistake.
The burden of proof is still on YikXx.

Until I can personally reproduce this error, it is definitely NOT a BUG. Even then it's only a BUG if its not GIGO.

Can we reproduce your issue just based on the info in your post

The answer to this question is still "no".

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO MAKE THIS ERROR OCCUR ON MY MACHINE?

I think what I should do is add some code to the finisher so that it will exit with a critical error if an invalid HWID is found, that would absolutely place the blame where it belongs big_smile! But I don't see why i should go out of my way for someone who shows me no respect.

IE

OK, I will wait for result of bugfixing here.

Who said you found a BUG??? Not me... not mr_smartepants. I find this statement very disrespectful.
You're going to wait??? you haven't even demonstrated you have found a bug yet...
You should not be waiting. You need to get to work proving you have found a bug. At least if you want us to be able to help.

I NEVER said we had a BUG I said that "I wish you luck in proving you found a bug" You still have not yet proved you have found a bug. And I don't think you ever will... But 'Good Luck' trying. One person in ten million has ever found a bug in BASE. The odds of your success are almost zero. BUT... IF you actually DO find a BUG... THEN (and only then) I will tell you when you have found a BUG and then I will ask you to create a bug report at the bugtracker. THEN I will be glad to fix it. We are no where near that yet... First i need to reproduce the bug on one of the many machines on my workbench.

Again... First you have to find a BUG... Right now all I see is user error. (GIGO)

I am convinced that this is a GIGO error (Garbage In Garbage Out error). You are dumping garbage into the finisher so you are getting garbage out... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE feel free to prove me wrong... And I wish you Good Luck with that task! (you are going to need it). The odds I am wrong are quite slim, probably one in a million. tongue If it happens it happens, and I will admit it. It certainly would not be the first time I was wrong and certainly won't be the last. Since It happens so rarely I can deal with it with a big smile big_smile and take my lumps like a man wink.

I suggest you do a process of elimination...

does your graphics pack have this error if it is the only one slipstreamed?
(I am going to bet the answer to this question is no)
If the answer to that question is yes... What change do you make that causes it to blow up?

Are you saving your files as UNI or ANSI?

I think the graphics pack issue is caused by another pack... So... What other pack used with your graphics pack blows it up. Is it the same one that has that goofy USB driver in it?

I assure you the mistake is yours. Keep Simplifying your equation until you find your issue.

At this point I am very curious to see one of your DPs_BASE.log files... Hmmm...

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

mr_smartepants It's variant works fine because I changed INI file and use tagfiles instead of INF checking. wink
First variant (don't work, because finisher ignores HDAUDIO\**** HWIDs):

[z6]
; REQUIRED
exc_count		= 1
; OPTIONAL
exc_1_tagFiles	= 2
exc_1_tagFile1	= "%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\sthda.sys"
exc_1_tagFile2	= "%ProgramFiles%\IDT\WDM\stacsv.exe"
exc_1_+hwids	= 0
exc_1_-hwids	= 0
exc_1_+infFiles	= 1
exc_1_+infFile1	= "%DPSROOT%\D\S\z6\STHDA.inf"
exc_1_-infFiles	= 0
exc_1_commands	= 1
exc_1_command1	= "regedit.exe /S %DPSROOT%\D\S\z6\sthda.reg"

Second variant (works fine because INF parsing not use):

[z6]
; REQUIRED
exc_count		= 1
; OPTIONAL
exc_1_tagFiles	= 2
exc_1_tagFile1	= "%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\sthda.sys"
exc_1_tagFile2	= "%ProgramFiles%\IDT\WDM\stacsv.exe"
exc_1_+hwids	= 0
exc_1_-hwids	= 0
exc_1_+infFiles	= 0
exc_1_-infFiles	= 0
exc_1_commands	= 1
exc_1_command1	= "regedit.exe /S %DPSROOT%\D\S\z6\sthda.reg"

Error winth path to file stacsv.exe in Services - Audio service present in many versions of IDT sound drivers (path looks like C:\D\S\z6\stacsv.exe), so it's okay if you just use tagfiles. smile

What screen resolution do you request?

Hmm, I don't know... Resolution can be configured itself after installation of driver. On notebook on which I tested (Compaq 615) is 1366x768 pixels (max res. for matrix). When I inslall windows I use 1024x768 in winnt.sif

Ignoring all the other HWIDs.

That's what I'm trying to explain to you is a very long time. wink You are looking for a reason, anywhere but not where it should look.

Pay particular attention to the last two HWIDs.

And what? smile It's my flash drive and my nick is YikxX. wink

Is definitely not a valid HWID...

For my flash drive it is valid HWID. How I did it will not explain - google to help. wink It's not a error, it is very useful my flashdrive controller's firmware modification. But I can install Windows from DVD disk, not from USB-DVD on my flash, if it changes anything. smile

Are you saving your files as UNI or ANSI?

ANSI

At this point I am very curious to see one of your DPs_BASE.log files

I am don't use DP_BASE programm, I use only finisher from it (bin\DPsFnshr.7z and DPsFnshr.ini)

[Settings]

DPsRoot	= "%SystemDrive%"
; DO NOT SET THIS MANUALLY, LET THE DriverPacks BASE DO IT FOR YOU!

KTDlocation	= "%SystemRoot%\DriverPacks"

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

OK, here's the deal.
1) 1366x768 pixels isn't supported (I think).  I'll make sure it's added in the next release. smile
2) We say this all the time.  DriverPacks Finisher does NOT install drivers.  XP setup installs drivers via devpath.  When you integrate DriverPacks via DriverPacks BASE, all the correct settings are made for this.  If the driver isn't loaded during XP setup (between T-36 & T-33) then the HWID isn't recognized by DriverPacks Finisher because it's not "seen" by XP devmgr.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

DriverPacks Finisher does NOT install drivers. XP setup installs drivers via devpath.

I know about it (rather via devmgr). smile Or are you just a fool I accept? Or you think only you can write fake-setups (modified setup.exe) for XP? wink

all the correct settings are made for this

All correct settings is present - driver install works fine. Only install of Control Panel fails because finisher spits on HWID.

If the driver isn't loaded during XP setup (between T-36 & T-33)

Loaded and works. Otherwise, why am I here about resolution writing? And devmgr/devcon see the HWID (refer to my finisher log), but finisher ignore/not parse it.

Reinstall Windows from DVD-disk without my flashdrive inserted - no changes in finisher work. sad

Log here.

P.S. In Russian, there is a saying - transfuse water from empty to empty again. IMHO, that we are here dealing. sad

If you are unable to describe how to cause this error then there is no way for us to fix it...

end of story.

No we don't believe we are the only ones who can create a fake setup...

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

If you are unable to describe

If you unable to understand - I can't help you. Read more books and special literature. wink Teach me how to explain it to you personally - and I explain. I think what mr_smartepants long understood what I'm talking about here.

how to cause this error

I'm don't know! Use notebook with ATI chipset and ATI video, use all 3 INI in 1 archive, rename D\G in D\V, unpack DPsFnshr.7z to %SystemDrive% then copy DPsFnshr.ini and ATICCP.INS in same location, and D folder too and simply run file DPsFnshr.exe. See the log. Driver on your ATI video must be already installed (without Control Panel).

end of story

Do not even hope for it - I used to always bring the case to the end.

However we only support OURS...

If I give you logs with same bug after DP_BASE integration driverpacks into WinXP distrib, what excuse you come up with then? Just be honest and say at once that I did not waste my time on this process.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

It's very difficult for the DriverPacks team to accept that anything is wrong with our tools.  They are all designed to work together.  You've made too many significant changes to simply isolate our DriverPacks Finisher as the culprit.  It wasn't designed to be taken out of context and used in the manner you're using it.  It's entirely possible that the DriverPacks Finisher is doing everything it was programmed to do, but is failing because of the changes you've made.
Everytime you change something, that change (however small) has a cumulative effect on the entire install.  One insignificant typo can have a catastrophic effect once the install is complete.
Would you please (just as a test) integrate unedited DriverPacks via DriverPacks BASE and let us know the outcome.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

integrate unedited

But HWID PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9612 not present in your original driverpack Graphics_A - driver simply don't instal... I almost don't edit/add anything in INI files for my DP_Graphics driverpack. Changed D\G on D\V only.

I rename my video driverpack in DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_1004.7z and slipstream it into distrib using DP_BASE v9.02.0.1 - driver don't install and Control Panel too. But HWID PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9612 not present in your original driverpack Graphics_A

Yes I know.  I'm fixing that.  Thank you for reporting it.
I'll post a link to an updated pack for you to test for us.
But that shouldn't stop you from testing our other DriverPacks and methods.  I just want to make certain that there's nothing wrong with OUR process on YOUR hardware.

Re: [REQ]Finisher ignore match HDAUDIO\FUNC... HWIDs when parsing .ini

I'm fixing that

I had forgotten that even in the folder A1\B_96537\ file atifglpf.xml is missing - fix it too.
When I add string "ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics  " = ati2mtag_RS780M, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9612 from my notebook original videodriver in D\G\A1\dps_A1.inf - I had error about this file missing on 34 min of installation.

LOL, I had already fixed that when I upgraded DriverPack Graphics A to 10.4 Catalyst. wink
BTW, a "please" would have been nice.
