Topic: Feedback: nightlies worked on my HP 8100 Elite

Hi folks
As an infrequent visitor, just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work smile

It took me a while to ferret out the latest releases, since the website has been redesigned and the latest MassStorage wasn't in the area labelled as latest...

Anyway, I used:

DPs_BASE_100401rc.exe
with

DP_Chipset_wnt5_x86-32_1004r1.7z
DP_LAN_wnt5_x86-32_100411.7z
DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_100429.7z

And those three packs all worked just fine and dandy thanks on my hp Compaq 8100 Elite (yes it has an additional video card and Broadcom NIC - just ignore those):

whereas my previous attempt with latest "stable releases"
DPs_BASE_8125.exe
DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_901.7z
did not successfully load the AHCI driver for VEN_8086&DEV_3B22 which I'm sure you're already well aware of...

Anyway thanks for all the good work here and just wanted to report success with nightlies.
Hope they're going to be released officially soon smile
Cheers,
tU

I love it...

It is rare that somebody stops by to say 'thanks, it worked great!'

That makes you DriverPacks hero of the day in my book... you rock!

Have an awesome day!

Re: Feedback: nightlies worked on my HP 8100 Elite

Would love a copy of DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_100429.7z

The location seems to be a closely guarded secret ... sad

Re: Feedback: nightlies worked on my HP 8100 Elite

@soporific
I'm still a newbie myself, so not sure how politic it is to post a link to these "in the clear"
I found the location with a bit of judicious searching - maybe this is a way of limiting access to those with enough knowledge to mostly stay out of trouble!

If you're really struggling to find them, then PM me and I'll see if I can steer you in the right direction.
If any mods object to this sort of behaviour please let me know if I'm out of line, but I will say this:

I really really REALLY hope that the MassStorage pack is re-released soon!

This pack is the MOST important one in the whole suite as all other drivers can be manually added after installing Windows even by copying onto USB and loading manually - ugly but not the end of the world.
With the latest "officially released" version being all the way back in Jan 2009 (did I read that right?) there are significant numbers of machines with AHCI controllers that just cannot be used with XP OutOfBox drivers or the old "official current" DP MassStorage 9.01...

Please don't take this comment as negative criticism though - I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into these packs smile
Since I'm not in the testing team I have no idea what happens behind the scenes or what may be being worked on before the MassStorage pack can be released!

Cheers and thanks again,
tU

Re: Feedback: nightlies worked on my HP 8100 Elite

It is a no no to post the link out in the open... Ususally we will enclose it in code tags or in [ URL= link ] packname [ /url ] tags... Since any post here shows up in google in about 30 seconds we don't direct link them. People who are resourceful enough to actually read the forum we figure can handle issues related to alpha/beta releases. Nightly packs are not for the inexperienced - we are not a noob friendly site wink. I posted a hint in response to his other post / request  "/Nightlies/NT5/".  soporific seems bright enough to connect the dots tongue. This was not done as a security measure there was just too much confusion. people were just accidentally grabbing the wrong nightlies, LOL, so we split them into seperate folders by type (NT5 and NT6) to make it easier. nothing secretive or covert, just a simple matter of re-organization as a result of our growth.

you can PM a link if you like you can even post it here in code tags if you like. Just don't 'Hot link' to them big_smile.

PS i was amused that soporific already knows where the nightlies are but could not find the latest mass pack... he's going to smack himself on the forehead when he gets there... DOH!

PSS We want to release DriverPack MassStorage it is just so dificult to get right and so disasterous if wrong... It takes lots of testing and lots of work to get it right it is 10 (maybe 100) times more difficult than any other pack

@tU LOL... noob? you have been here over three years ROFL... Welcome back wink

Re: Feedback: nightlies worked on my HP 8100 Elite

Don't these nightlies require the new 10x version of base... I have been having trouble finding that...

I do commend you all for the hard work, I only have to deal with drivers twice a year you do it all year round!

Re: Feedback: nightlies worked on my HP 8100 Elite

yes mass 10.x requires DriverPacks BASE 10.x

If you only use drivers twice a year then stick to the official releases wink

Re: Feedback: nightlies worked on my HP 8100 Elite

@OverFlow
Thanks for clarification on the policy there - that's why I asked first...

I realise that MassStorage is so hard - that's why we need it as it's even harder to do driver integration manually!
Thanks for all the excellent work here smile

BTW, I do consider myself a noob still.
Although I first registered here over three years ago, I've only ever done a few DP integrations.
I only visit about every 18 months, and get the latest MassStorage, LAN & Chipset packs to shoehorn an ageing Win2000 into a newer hp business desktop platform! (Currently i5, i7 Quad Core etc)
Happily, I have finally found a workaround for the s/w that we were told "required" Win2K and was "impossible" to run under WinXP, which means that my job is much easier.
The MassStorage DriverPacks do not work at all well with Win2000 these days, and I had to do much manual enabling of all the common Intel AHCI drivers, and disabling of all the other "active" drivers.
They work great with WinXP though smile
Cheers and thanks for your efforts!

Re: Feedback: nightlies worked on my HP 8100 Elite

I am in need of these same files, as I have the HP 8100 Elite systems as well.  I understand that you cannot post a link and I understand that additional testing needs to be done but I would still like to be a tester on this.  Please email me any info.

whereas my previous attempt with latest "stable releases"
DPs_BASE_8125.exe
DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_901.7z
did not successfully load the AHCI driver for VEN_8086&DEV_3B22 which I'm sure you're already well aware of...

Anyway thanks for all the good work here and just wanted to report success with nightlies.
Hope they're going to be released officially soon smile
Cheers,
