Topic: Nlite unattended setup after mass storage integration

Hey ppl, i have a question about using some of the nlite options after integrating mass storage drivers with dpbase. some might ask why would i do that if it clearly says USE NLITE BEFORE DPBASE but the problem is....
when i use only dpbase and burn image file of XP my installation preparation process is broken. when i run installation of untouched xp with integrated sp3 in the process it asks me  to repair my instalation, i also have an option ESC-dont repair, when i press ESC it asks me where do i wont to install XP. if i choose to install on partion that already has XP on it i have a choice to format that partition and also to leave file sistem intacked (actualy to just run over already installed windows files). now...when i use only dpbase on clean xp disk and burn it i dont have those options-if i choose to install on partition that already has windows on it. it just runs the instalation making new windows folder and leaving the old one untouched so i have 2 windows after installation.

is there a way around this, using nlite unattended option and selecting ask to repair (i tried this and it worked but im not sure are mass storage drivers working coretly couse i used it on a virtual machine), or maybe manualy editing WINNT.Sif file so it would give me all thoes options but making mass storage drivers work.

tnx in advance

Re: Nlite unattended setup after mass storage integration

if you run nLite after DriverPacks then you will blow up the DriverPacks drivers - period - don't do that (you realize this already thanks for reading the documentation!)

Yes there is a "fix" however i would like to pint out that DriverPacks does not support "Attended Installations" Repair is an attended install...

there is quite a lot if info on the site if you search for "repair" wink

let me link you to what you seek

Here is the request to make this a DriverPacks BASE feature... http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2733
the thread that started it and has the "fix"  is here http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 821#p20821
You can read the whole thread if you like but i linked you directly to the pertinent info...

Welcome to DriverPacks

regards Jeff

PS Doing a repair is the worst possable thing you can do to a windows install.
- I would advise you to NEVER do a repair. if your only option is to do a repair, then it is time to backup all the user data and reload clean and reload the user data. the mess that is left behind by a repair is just monumental. think of it as putting a bandaid on a wound that needs 20 stiches.
