Topic: Acer R1600 drivers

I just bought an Acer R1600 and can’t make a UBCD4Win iso.

The default version 3.5 UBCD4Win BSODs with stop error 7B.

This is the error in full: 0x0000 00 7B, 0xF7 A96528, 0xc000 0034, 0x 0000 0000, 0x 0000 0000) spaces added.

My XPCD  will also BSOD.

I have tried the defauilt UBCD4Win.

I have added the drivers for chipset and LAN from ACER.

My NOOB brain says, after searching your site and UBCD4Win's, that the hardware is not (yet) supported?

Please give me some guidance so I can make a UBCD4Win CD so I can ghost the drive.

Thanks,

Nick

Re: Acer R1600 drivers

Well the answer seems obvious to me...

From your log

2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT> Start scanning for DriverPacks for the wnt5_x86-32 platform.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT>     Could not detect any (official) DriverPacks.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT>     Could not detect any 3rd party DriverPacks for wnt5_x86-32.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT>     Finished scanning.

UBCD4Win came with the mass storage plugin prebuilt and ready to go... no user action is required.
the UBCD4Win download only includes the prebuilt plugin not the mass storage pack itself. (to save space)

by running the BASE program (or hitting config in PEBuilder) with no mass storage pack you DELETED the included mass storage plugin. therefore you have no support at all for any mass storage controllers beyond those included with windows.

Check the tutorial for help. (linked in my signature, included in the docs folder of BASE and available by hitting 'Help" button in pebuilder.

Welcome to DriverPacks.

Note:

Adding chipset drivers will absolutely crash your UBCD4Win disc. wink Chipset drivers are not supported... Neither is sound. It's not Windows, it's PE, and there is a HUGE difference.

If you built your disc BEFORE running BASE, and before adding chipset then please let me know that wink
IE did you build your disc with the "out of the box" settings? (as downloaded without changes)

Tell me more about HOW you "have added the drivers for chipset and LAN from ACER". Added to what... your source? as a plugin? Details!?

PSS can you be more detailed about "My XPCD will also BSOD."?
Do you mean the if you drop your OEM (unmodified) XP CD in and attempt setup or repair?

PSSS - WHAT VERSION AND TYPE AND SP LEVEL IS YOUR XP SOURCE??? (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
for example
"XP Pro, Corp, sp2, no hotfixes or updates" or
"XP MCE, OEM, no SP, no updates" or
"XP Home, retail, Nlited with SP3 and all updates"

Re: Acer R1600 drivers

Source XPCD PRO SP2. Don’t know if corp, but its retail original disk. Trying to boot. BSOD.

The machine I am building the iso on is Pro SP3.

If you built your disc BEFORE running BASE, and before adding chipset then please let me know that
IE did you build your disc with the "out of the box" settings? (as downloaded without changes)

Yes and yes out of the box settings. I ran it again today and the log says the same.

The log today:

2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT> Start scanning for DriverPacks for the wnt5_x86-32 platform.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT> Could not detect any (official) DriverPacks.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT> Could not detect any 3rd party DriverPacks for wnt5_x86-32.
2009-03-14 23:51:49 : <INIT> Finished scanning.

Tell me more about HOW you "have added the drivers for chipset and LAN from ACER". Added to what... your source? as a plugin? Details!?

I put the ACER drivers in SCSI folder and LAN folders in BARTPE and disabled the driver packs.

The bottom line: When I run UBCD4Win out of the box it fails.

Since I am trying to build UBCD4Win version 3.5 I think that I don’t need to add anything for the driver packs?

Your help is appreciated.

Re: Acer R1600 drivers

XP Pro SP2 is the prefered source to use... Excellent! Retail and Corp are mutually exclusive... you have retail... wink

Tell me this, if you open PE builder and hit the Plugins button (see the tutorial in my signature for pics and details).
Do you see this line?

'Yes # DriverPacks.net - Mass Storage'

Note if you add drivers to the  SCSI folder  you have to disable DriverPacks.net mass storage on the plugins page or your drivers will fail!
This is stated in reverse in the tutorial. IE you have to disable / remove the SCSI folder to enable DriverPacks.net mass storage...

I deleted the /drivers/SCSI and /drivers/lan/ and I get

No # driverpacks.net - BASE - Press <config> etc.
Yes # DriverPacks.net - Mass Storage, not found

Re: Acer R1600 drivers

Further testing.

I deleted the UBCD4Win folders and reinstalled UBCD4Win after rebooting.

I created the ISO with no errors.

Same BSOD.

But the Plugins show in UBCD4Win:

NO # driverpacks.net - BASE
Yes # drivcerpacks net LAN 8.12.1
Yes # driverpacks.net - Mass Storage 9.01
No # driverpacks.net WLAN, 8.06

The log:

Processing INF file "C:\UBCD4Win\plugin\DriverPacks.net\LAN\LAN.inf"
Processing INF file "C:\UBCD4Win\plugin\DriverPacks.net\MassStorage\MassStorage.inf"

Re: Acer R1600 drivers

That is GOOD! that is what you should see on the plugins page...

I will let you try a nightly pack to see if that works better.

1. Open DPs_BASE.exe and download LAN and WLAN, if you want them, from the updatechecker page.

2. Then add this mass pack mass 9.09.rc6. to the Driverpacks folder (Same place as the LAN and WLAN packs you just downloaded from DriverPacks BASE)

3. Then from pebulder highlight NO # driverpacks.net - BASE. Hit the config button and that will update your plugins, then rebuild, and burn a new iso, and then test and report back. TIA

BSOD Same as at first with slightly different numbers in second sequence 0xF796c528, .....

Plugins page from UBCD4Win:

No # Driverpacks.net - BASE
Yes # Driverpacks.net - Mass Storage, 9.09.r6

Re: Acer R1600 drivers

OK... We will need to make some updates to DriverPack MassStorage...

In the time being you can disable the DriverPacks mass plugin and try to manually add it with the scsi folder method... you can still help us by providing a link to the driver that works with your controller

Thanks a million for helping us to help you, and everyone else with your hardware!

I downloaded the alleged drivers from Acer here

http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles … ep3=Aspire R1600&OS=X01&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_7

And it doesn't work either.  I've wasted about 6 CDs.  I had to delete the anti spyware on UBCD4win becasue the build is bigger than a standard CD.

I also deleted the ethernet and Display folders in the drivers because they erred out and wouldn't build the ISO.

What can I do now to try to make a UBCD4Win disk?

Re: Acer R1600 drivers

I used to use rewritables for that but they tend to fail frequently... I just burn DVD's each time now especially since they are like $20 for 100. At the cost of 2 cents each who cares if it ends up as a coaster wink.

Nvidia nforce drivers have always sucked... some things don't change. See if you can find a RIS driver for it those will generally work well in PE. That is the best suggestion i have until cdob or Hilander999 stops by or until i can sit down with the mass pack and see if i can puzzle it out. again Nforce / nvidia drivers are just the worst POS to deal with. No other drivers are any where near as much of a PITA. They are just very poorly written.

I'll work on it this afternoon.

Thanks,
