It's because we use AutoIt. AutoIt can easily be used to create malicious scripts. Unfortunately, pretty much every anti-virus app has once flagged *any* AutoIt executable as a virus because of that. Simply because their algorithms suck that bad.

Not much we can do about it.

Jaak: as we discussed on IM, my goal is to automate most of that.

OverFlow, Helmi, muiz, JakeLD & dnoiz: thanks! smile

That's one of the pain points indeed, Jaak. It's certain that your workflow will change. But I'm trying to not make it too complex. That's actually one of the most difficult parts of the new website... especially since we have to handle such big files, and let's face it, plain HTTP uploads (via forms) suck for that. So we'll need either something like on-the-fly created FTP sites, or an FTP dropbox, or WebDAV instead of FTP. That's not yet decided.

Hey all.

Yes, I'm alive. I'm doing well, too. But school has been very demanding lately -- I'm currently working on a Reversi game, written in C++ and Qt, yay for cross-platform! (If anybody would like to get his hands on it, just request it in the comments.) Before that, it was the Drupal freelance work that was demanding. But, in exchange, the new site will have some very cool features.

I admit that I should have posted more status updates. But I also have to say that I simply felt I had to take a break from this project. The advantage is that the site will kick ass. I've learned *a lot* the past months. I've become pretty proficient at Drupal, and have even been hired by Drupal companies to write Drupal modules for them. Thus, I've actually been paid to learn how to write a professional-grade DriverPacks.net site. If any of my clients read this: thanks again! wink smile

As muiz pointed out, the time since the sponsoring round for the VPS and now, has been way too long to see no results at all. So hereby, I'd like to apologize towards those who sponsored back then. No worries, it won't take 10 months.

But I will be back, after the upcoming exam period. Promise. And the DriverDB that I promised, will come. And *very cool stuff* will be made possible thanks to that.

Finally, I'd like to thank muiz, mr_smartepants, Jaak, Jeff Herre, helmi, and so many others, for keeping this project alive. You guys rock! smile

Without having read your story in detail due to lack of time, I am granting you permission to redistribute the .sys/.sy_ files distributed with the BartPE plugin. Any noble effort that doesn't try to make money off DriverPacks.net's back is allowed to do so. Don't worry about that smile

As for access to the source code, that's not a problem either. Just contact me. *But*, I'm quite sure you won't be able to simply reuse it without heavily rewriting it smile That code is pretty much the oldest of the entire BASE (as in: pretty much the first code I've ever written), so be warned that it's ugly smile

The cause is simple.

The DriverPacks BASE uses several command line utilities to do its job. In Vista, you need admin powers to do that. So all you have to do, is running the DriverPacks BASE as the admin user. If you're not, you can do that by right-clicking the DriverPacks BASE and select the option "Run as admin" (or something like that). Then enter your admin password and voila, it all just works.

Exactly, what exactly isn't working? As far as I know, it's pretty much bugfree.

Do you want to contribute back to the community? Then I might give you access to the SVN repository.

Discussies over illegale software is hier niet toegestaan. wink

Deze keer een waarschuwing, volgende keer een ban.

WTF Jaak :S A *hex editor* (!!!!!!!!!!!) to check for hidden characters yikes

I'm using TextMate (http://macromates.com/), which has syntax checking for lots of languages. It's a Mac OS X only app though. I'm sure there are opensource text editors for Windows that do PHP syntax checking... I'll ask around a bit.

Aside that: well done everybody! smile

Change the KTD directory in the DPsFnshr.ini.

The next site will have an integrated bittorrent tracker, and probably a webseeder as well. This means that if few seeders are available for a certain torrent, the download should still be downloadable. It's the best of both worlds.

Works fine for me. Must have been a temporary glitch.

Ik vermoed dat dat de oorzaak is wink Je hebt wat teveel weggegooid met nLite.

Heb je nLite gebruikt?

I had created a "universal imaging" forum yesterday, based on another request. See http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewforum.php?id=30.

Hier zijn dezelfde regels van toepassing als op de rest van het forum. Wees gewoon vriendelijk voor elkaar en post niets illegaal, dan blijft iedereen gelukkig! smile

This is something that will be supported by the driver database: query the database for a specific driver HWID and get all matching drivers.

Seems like a good idea,  yes. I've created a subforum "Universal Imaging". If you have a better name, let me know.

Well said, Helmi smile

This won't happen.

There's no uniform way drivers implement multiple languages, so no uniform way to delete them. I won't code it for each driver, that would be a pain to maintain.

In the future, you should be able to select what driver you want to use, including multilingual/English-only versions.

I'm a volunteer as well, probably the craziest of them all, since I've started this project. I'm not sure I'd do it again (it's insane for sure), but I've learned a lot from it, got to know a lot of interesting people directly and indirectly.

Q; How do you make time???
A: I just keep winding my watch backwards...easy. smile

Heh big_smile I *used* to make time for it by spending less time on school stuff that was not hard anyway. Instead of 80-85% getting 70-75%, who cares, right? But that was high school. Now it's university and those differences in grades do matter now, so I don't have that much time left anymore. That and my summer jobs now, have left me with virtually no time for the DriverPacks project in the past months.

Q; How many hours a week do you devote to DriverPacks?
A: According to my wife...every waking moment!  I'm like a pitbull, when I want something fixed, I won't let it go until it's fixed.  It's a perfectionist flaw.

Exactly the same here. Except for that wife-thing tongue Ok, there are some tiny bugs left... See the above and you know why they aren't fixed yet.

Heh tongue If that ain't a dedicated geek ^^

It's fixed.

The hosting provider had switched me to a faster server without notifying me... and thus the path had changed. Yes, I know, it shouldn't have been hardcoded, but then again, I made this site without knowing much about PHP (or any programming for that matter). Things will change for the better in the not too distant future smile

I'm working on it. It doesn't make sense that it "just stopped working" though...

A quick status update: the small banner (for use as forum signature if you like), the new application logo and the favicon are ready. The bigger banners we just haven't gotten right yet. When it's done, I'll of course post them as a news item.
