Awesome batch file man!
I just stopped by for one of my (now) rare visits and found this!
Testing out v111009 I found a slight "bug" in the ":Final Message" code
(Not really a "bug" per say, it just generates a file not found error message)

This line references "<drive>" which is invalid code. I assume was just there as a mental placeholder:

Echo. & Echo The log file of this utility's progress is found in <drive>:\Windows\dpinst.log

Changing "<drive>:" to "%SystemDrive%" corrects the error:

Echo. & Echo The log file of this utility's progress is found in %SystemDrive%\Windows\dpinst.log

Keep up the good work!
... Time for me to go back into hibernation tongue

Yeah, I wish I could find the time that I used to have :S
I thought I read something about Bâshrat the Sneaky thinking of taking on 3rd Party DP as official... guess it is a big project.

Wow, has it really been that long?! I swear I haven't forgot about you guys...
I'm no longer doing work for HP and McAfee, but have re-enrolled in College as they will be paying for my Degree smile
So, now instead of malware and virus infections... I got tedious MS Word and Power Point classes that the books take 13 pages to tell you to Bold a line or change a color *Rolls Eyes*. Nice to see that we got a Win7 support up and going. I might have to reload my desktop if I get some time, so I might just have to test out ya'lls handy work. tongue

Your Scarce Friend,
Twig

Ya'lls fav. topic owner is back (for today at least). I figured I'd tidy up the broken links... so, Yay! they are fixed!
Updated download link, topic link, MD5, Size and Contributors for 3rd party DriverPack Modem, Virtual & WebCam!

Enjoy!

Just an update... still getting swamped...

I've been helping McAfee with the infestations that have been going around...
(McAfee Threat status is listed as "Severe"... basically DEFCON2!  tongue )
So far the past 2 weeks I have submitted ~230 NEW virus/malware infections to be blocked (a never ending battle with Vundo variants). Once things settle down, I'll try to get back to the forum more often...

JIK ya'll were wondering where I ran off to...
I've been very busy at work (Effectively doing the work of ~6 different ppl)... as the US seems to think shipping out Jobs overseas is 'helping'

I stopped in to check on some things, and to my surprise I had 15 pages of new posts since I was able to login last!!! ZOMG! (It's been a while..)
I will try to pop in once in a while to try to keep current on things, but it might be a fruitless effort (Judging from the previous line).

Hope everything is going well with everyone out in DriverPack land...

Twig

Is it possible to gather what transfer mode Disk 0 on the Primary IDE controller is operating in?
I'm trying to do this in a batch to gather the info, I've also just started poking around with DevCon, but I can't seem to make it output the info that I need. I can view the info through the normal Device Manager, if I go to the advanced settings of the Primary IDE Controller... But I'm at a loss of how to get this info into a batch, or into a text file...

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I stopped using these programs when CMDOW went down... Then got brought back up as the AV's removed the detection from it, then re-added it back.

What a pain!
I gave up and just let my command windows hang out on the screen during my Windows install (Unattended setup, so usually not there to see them anyways... O well.)

@Kal - Unfortunately my main system is out of commission ATM, and most likely wont get a chance to test until after I get back from Vacation on the 19th. I will let you know asap after I do get a chance to test.

@sT0n3r - I have seen this before and is what inspired my original request before this thread... however, "LastXP" isn't legit, hence, it was not brought up. Furthermore, we all appreciate your willingness to help, however, please don't provide Warez or Links to Warez files....

Thanks Again,
Twig

@ Jaak -  I assume that this was prompted because of this last canon pack... If there is some things that everyone should be doing when making/updating packs, please share... so that it can be added to the Tut. I know I have no where near the experience of the peeps on the Main Team, but that might be due to less direct involvement... as 3rd party has never really had strict guidelines to follow... I think we should get something in place so that it may help us all. Also, Right now my main system died in an electrical storm cause by a EF1 tornado that went through my back yard just a couple weeks ago... so I don't really have the resources/time to package these at work but I figured I would try to help with what I had at the time....  Poor Compy :'(

@ OverFlow -  I wasn't aware of the better compression if the files were un-cabbed first... This is how the files came, and I didn't even think about it. I will make sure to note it for next time wink

@ dnoiz - That is strange, I downloaded the latest driver from a AUS Canon site I think... however mine was v3.00.0.0 and yours is def newer @ v3.02.0.0. As OverFlow suggested, you can take the layout of mine and just add those newer drivers info the L6 folder, replacing the files that are in there.

1 other side note, I noticed that almost all the printers in this pack are almost all EUR or AUS devices, with a slight skew with a few for the US... no point, just figured I'd note that...

@dnoiz - Please test this:

FYI: maxximum was the original creator of the Canon packs.

The different folders are for products that are not covered in the previous folders.
So, if a NEW driver covers support for the older products they can be combined, otherwise, if they cover NEW products not supported by any of the previous drivers, a new folder would be made. I believe the L3 and L4 folders are a few series of printers that the files were ~90% the same, so they are slightly modified to be able to decrease the size of the source files... from what I remember.

Hey,

I don't remember if I am hallucinating or not... but I thought that someone had made a piece of software that would analyze an inf file and auto copy the SourceDiskFiles... automatically stripping out the unneeded files

If anyone could confirm my hallucination, it would be much appreciated wink

Oh, c'mon... you know you wanna code it tongue

I seem to remember requesting this feature a while back (don't have time to search for the post), and was shot down... hmm
O well, this was exactly what I was requesting before. a selection with a timeout, so that it would not break the unattended. And maybe also a selection for 3rd party (sometimes I just don't want to wait for some of the larger packs to extract it the system doesn't have the components).

I've been too busy to follow up on a lot of things, and this wasn't high on my list of topics to bring back up, but Thanks for taking an interest in it this time around! wink

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing

@ Jaak & OverFlow
Wouldn't this style of scripting could allow us or anyone making a UWCD able to bypass using $OEM$ so that the 'Repair' option could be retained?? (downside... no cmdline.txt)

Thanks for the suggestion... but unfortunately I don't use the winnt32 install method, so I don't think this will work out for me. I'm currently using a PXE boot to a linux boot manager... and starting the install from the network (acts like a normal CD/DVD install), and goes through Textmode setup and then GUI. I believe the switch that was provided will only work if launched from a Windows environment or WinPE, is this correct?

judging from the age of these devices..I would have thought that these would have been in the drivers cab that came with XP (could be wrong)... by chance, you didn't choose to remove drivers with nLite did you?

lol

I call upon the Tootsie Pop theory:
"The world may never know"

tongue

Hm... Thats a good idea! Great that I could help spark some inspiration =P
If it does, the system would probably need to support USB boot devices. But which most older system don't.

OverFlow wrote:

the floppy method definately works  - if you can find a machine these days witha a floppy in it wink

LOL, yeah I only have 1 system with a floppy... but that is my laptop and can't have the CD and Floppy in a the same time.

...What about a "fake" text-mode? that would allow us to choose a sif (just pullin things outta my head now)?

You would be surprised how time consuming things that seem simple are and how long it can take to implement, as there are many "backstage" things that anyone not part of the testing team wouldn't really realize.

My suggestion, try not to come off condescending on something that you are getting for free... and maybe even offer to help! wink
