Windows Vista & 7 are referred to as NT6.0 & NT6.1, respectively.  Isn't XP NT5.1, or is that Win2003? hmm

Is there no driver for the old SB Live cards in DP_sound?
I miss the old v6.0.01.1304 (2.15.0004.4) driver from DP_Sound_A_wnt5_x86-32_805, it worked well.
I tried modding the inf for the latest audigy driver v6.0.01.1377 (2.18.0017.7), yet couldn't get it to work cold on one machine.  I tried it on another, that had an audigy already on it, removed the audigy, then installed the sb live with a modded inf & lo & behold, I had sound!
I wonder why.
If it could be made to work, wouldn't this be an elegant solution to combine audigy & sb live support in one driver - separate inf's?

for the USB2.0 devices, this driver is the latest: (not a signed driver - yet has virtual com ports!)
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM20812.zip  big_smile
However; it doesn't support the same devices in the existing DP driver.  The latest that does is: v1.00.2176 AFIK (WHQL), yet is no longer available from mfg. mad

drivers seem to be for win-all:

is there any way to sticky advanced tab settings for everyone?

Just getting warmed up(maybe someday i'll earn DP_maniac title!).  I noticed that the package -> atheros_wifi_9.2.0.105(win_all).exe from (sorry) station-drivers.com
has inf support for a lot more devices!  efforting to find a mfg. source. hmm

The 9.2.0.310 package mentioned in the 1st post in this topic has 'Install_CD' folders (for each win version) that I have not as of yet been able to extract.  The size seems to indicate the presence of additional drivers/utilites.  It may be a out-of sequence bugfix, due to problems with Bluetooth throughput.

Atheros was acquired by Qualcomm in january 2011 (don't expect any more updates - one can hope, though)

a Wireless Intermediate Driver is included?  Cisco LEAP, PEAP, & EAP-SIM may be included all of which are beyond the scope of my work.  No support for additional devices, though.

The v9.2.0.104 driver come with WS (does it replace or depend upon MS ResearchLabs' VirtualWiFi for XP, & is there any relation to AutoCAD WS?), a Wireless Intermediate Driver v1.0.0.92!  I have no idea how to test it - anyone have ideas?  If it's not HW dependant, maybe it could be added as a separate driver.   Edit:*** updated below ***

It would appear that the station-drivers 9.2.0.105 package may have driver signing issues with Vista.x86 & x64.  They changed folder structure in the 9.2.0.310 package.

I'm still not having any luck finding a mfg. source for v9.2.0.105 package (includes 9.2.0.104 xp driver).  Can anyone help?

There seem to be many xp drivers that do work (well?) with w7.  Some w7 drivers work with xp.  (except NDIS5 & 6.1 (w)LAN drivers - no interchange)
The installers usually choke on the concept, though.  The key seems to be in the "inf", & whether the HW can be manually installed.

I've seen an inordinate amount of Samsung LCD's from the mid-to-late 2000's with capacitor plague.
One still under warranty, yet abandoned.  Most that I've seen do NOT have samsung lcd panels installed, though.

Please don't think that i'm a samsung hater, though.  I've working with a self-refurbished 23" panel for 5 months now.  (freebie for cost of gas). big_smile
I don't recall which mfg. made the panel, yet it may have been chimei (now innolux) or AUO(Acer).

oops,  inf & cat files for CardBus adaptor are missing...
.... efforting to find same version from a previous package.

PS:  the setup.exe went throught the motions of installing(from another partition)
, yet didn't update anything.

Signing looks good, & SDHC working great on xp.

Could this set of drivers be included in Vista-7 packs, or am i barking mad up the wrong part of the forum here?

I have not yet had time to test with w7, yet so far it installs on XP.  How can I tell if it is NDIS 5 or 6.1?  No virtual com ports (like FTDI USB-serial adaptors - I know, that's not IRDA).

This actually works great with XP!  Sent & received 5Gbyte of data (including a 4G iso towards the end of the transfer) with MD5 checksums over IRDA, which took about 6hours!  XP says 250% progress towards end of transfer (xp bug?)  Driver signing broken in XP (i don't know about Vista-7). cool

This may only have been beta, yet works like a charm.  The SigmaTel company was acquired by FreeScale (spin-off from Motorola Semi) in 2008, so this was the last driver for this USB 1.1 device.
http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/sit … mp;fsrch=1
Naturally, it is not signed.  My biggest unresolved question is whether it solves problems with former drivers on Vista-7 (& if it works on x64).
http://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php … _code=8434

updated SMSC FIR drivers:
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 086#p43086 cool

Oh crud, i killed my SigmaTel IRDA module.  Everything worked perfectly (MD5 verified) until i tried to send a couple of small files with chinese characters in the filename!  I think the error referenced a bad environmental variable.  Now it refuses to respond to connection requests.  The SMSC module recognizes the presence of the other machine.  Not so with the SigmaTel module.  Frustrating!  I wonder if the old driver would have choked.  Don't try this at home kiddies, your module will likely choke as well. roll

Hmm, there's a tantalum capacitor that had a bad solder joint on it.  Resoldered it, now it's no longer intermittant.  I have 12MHz at the crystal, 3.3V&5V where they should be.  It would seem that the IRDA transciever is bunged.  Maybe it didn't like the long transfer.  I will try on another machine, & different driver.  Efforting....... roll

I can't seem to find the WHQL driver v1.28 on DP.net, so just in case, here's a link:
http://www.yedata.com/multi/drive/STIR4 … -24-04.zip

Confirmed that both are transmitting (with digital camera) OK, working again.  I neglected to do a restart on the machine with the SMSC transceiver.  No more sending files with foreign characters in the files!

OK, i received the same error (time to stop blaming foreign characters!)  The same error is described here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897649    Arpidfix.exe is not on my SP3 systems, yet the other 2 files have the same file size. Hmm...
I will roll back to former SMSC driver & test.

Same error encountered with the driver v5.1.3600.9.  It just took longer to encounter this time.  I will try rolling back the SigmaTel driver. roll

OK same error when transmitting with the Sigmatel IRDA module, I will try limiting the transfer speed.  roll roll roll

Hmmm... sigmatel dongle uses IRDA PHY v1.3, SMSC uses v1.2 (according to Toshiba & SMSC) physical layer -- am i experiencing an incompatibility on a physical layer?  I will have to try this with 2 devices with the same IRDA standard. roll roll roll roll
Supposedly, my A70 supports CIR, yet I don't see this in the driver.

SMSC IrCC Hardware Design Guide:   http://www.smsc.com/media/Downloads/App … s/an76.pdf
SMSC CIR Primer:   http://www.smsc.com/media/Downloads/App … /an710.pdf
Hooray, I found the IR_UTILS.ZIP file with all the DOS tools for SMSC SIR(already emulates 16550) & FIR.  Very dangerous, so i won't post a link.

The reader is strongly encouraged to obtain the latest data sheets and application notes from the
transceiver manufacturer before attempting such a design.  In addition, the relevant IrDA
specification documents are available on the Internet for download (http://www.irda.org, free of
charge) and at least the Physical Layer Specification should be skimmed. Also on the recommended
reading list is the SMSC IrCC Data Sheet and the Data Sheet for the specific SIO device containing
it.

The very existence of this document is testament to the fact that:

Applying an FIR transceiver is anything but a simple task, and so both the skill and the effort
required in order to achieve a properly functioning design should not be underestimated.

The receivers operate with wide bandwidth and  sub-microamp full-scale currents, which makes
them extremely sensitive to noise, either power  supply, conducted or radiated.  The transmitters
operate at very high peak currents with fast rise and fall times, enabling them to radiate significant
EMI, and the power dissipated can result in such  excessive temperature rise that it can actually
damage the hardware.  Having said this, it *IS* possible to apply these devices successfully, other
engineers have done it before, and it is the purpose of this document to provide the knowledge and
techniques with which to do it.

Funny, the only time i thought of myself as an engineer was when i found a discarded trainman's cap by the railroad crossing & had a few too many! lol

still no support for *ENE202, though, like the old driver.

I haven't had time to research if all of the remote control buttons that are listed in the inf (as in v2.6.0.0)

even though it's already included (xp driverpack only), here is a link for this driver for all windows OS:

Oh, snap!

how about the cardreader package v3.00.09, instead.

now i see why station-dri gets a bad rap.

I have finally tested this signed driver (v2.00.02) w. xp & SDHC 4GB card & works great.
Does the driver (v2.00.00) in the Misc pack support SDHC?

Would this be a good driver to add to the USB driverpack, or would it fit better into the Misc pack?
