Re: [REQ] WLAN - Atheros AR5xxx/AR9xxx updated drivers

Geez, you're on FIRE!

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Atheros AR5xxx/AR9xxx updated drivers

Just getting warmed up(maybe someday i'll earn DP_maniac title!).  I noticed that the package -> atheros_wifi_9.2.0.105(win_all).exe from (sorry) station-drivers.com
has inf support for a lot more devices!  efforting to find a mfg. source. hmm

The 9.2.0.310 package mentioned in the 1st post in this topic has 'Install_CD' folders (for each win version) that I have not as of yet been able to extract.  The size seems to indicate the presence of additional drivers/utilites.  It may be a out-of sequence bugfix, due to problems with Bluetooth throughput.
readme   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52131.html  ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52131.exe

No dice, this is only for HW:

ATHER.DeviceDesc.3067        = "Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter"
ATHER.DeviceDesc.2063        = "Atheros AR5006 802.11a/b/g WiFi Adapter"
ATHER.DeviceDesc.3096        = "Atheros AR5009 802.11a/g/n WiFi Adapter"
ATHER.DeviceDesc.30A1        = "Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter"
ATHER.DeviceDesc.30AB        = "Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter"
ATHER.DeviceDesc.30A4        = "Atheros AR9287 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter"
ATHER.DeviceDesc.3116        = "Atheros AR9382 802.11a/g/n WiFi Adapter"
ATHER.DeviceDesc.3112        = "Atheros AR9380 802.11a/g/n WiFi Adapter"

Atheros was acquired by Qualcomm in january 2011 (don't expect any more updates - one can hope, though)

a Wireless Intermediate Driver is included?  Cisco LEAP, PEAP, & EAP-SIM may be included all of which are beyond the scope of my work.  No support for additional devices, though.

The v9.2.0.104 driver come with WS (does it replace or depend upon MS ResearchLabs' VirtualWiFi for XP, & is there any relation to AutoCAD WS?), a Wireless Intermediate Driver v1.0.0.92!  I have no idea how to test it - anyone have ideas?  If it's not HW dependant, maybe it could be added as a separate driver.   Edit:*** updated below ***

It would appear that the station-drivers 9.2.0.105 package may have driver signing issues with Vista.x86 & x64.  They changed folder structure in the 9.2.0.310 package.

I'm still not having any luck finding a mfg. source for v9.2.0.105 package (includes 9.2.0.104 xp driver).  Can anyone help?

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Atheros AR5xxx/AR9xxx updated drivers

Here's a link for WHQL driver v9.2.0.108 for AR5xxx/AR9xxx, etc   http://support.toshiba.ca/support/Downl … 4_wCAT.exe

Whilst i'm at it, here's the Atheros Bluetooth filter pack (lends the 'Bluetooth Collaboration' setting in Atheros WiFi meaning???):   http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-fil … 092845.zip

Here's a newer AR5xxx/AR9xxx WHQL package from station-drivers roll for xp (v9.2.0.234) & 7    Edit:*** outdated link ***   It posted 2 days ago for Toshiba Satellite Pro R850, yet it's down now.

The Install_CD folder is worth an install - works on XP, etc (includes the client ute, Cisco's auto-WPA-WPA2 {ie: LEAP, etc}, WS {extending support for other brand adapters}, full user guides, etc?).  Likely only the bare driver belongs in DP IMHO.

And here it is:   http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-fil … 100148.zip   cool:D:cool:
Includes drivers v9.2.0.234 for xp, & v9.2.0.225 for win7.x86 & x64.

It would appear that the acquisition by qualcomm is now complete.  http://www.qca.qualcomm.com/
Intelligraphics may be developing drivers for Qualcomm/Atheros now.  http://www.intelligraphics.com/wlan-driver-development

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Atheros AR5xxx/AR9xxx updated drivers

I find myself unsatisfied with the Atheros WiFi Utility.  I've seen it auto-connect to unencrypted wifi networks, even though i haven't selected a network.  I don't know if this is changeable, maybe someone else can offer more insight.
Some people may find this behavior desirable, yet I don't.  Just a 'heads-up' to those that agree.

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Atheros AR5xxx/AR9xxx updated drivers

*** note: these driver's Security Catalogs are entirely invalid.  I mention them for anecdotal reasons ONLY, not for inclusion in DP.  Additionally, they must be extracted from their installers, first.

non-WHQL XP driver for Atheros {DriverVer = 02/23/2012, 10.0.0.42}
non-WHQL XP driver for Atheros {DriverVer = 03/09/2012, 10.0.0.45}

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Atheros AR5xxx/AR9xxx updated drivers

AR5xxx/AR9xxx series driver updated to {DriverVer  = 03/21/2012, 9.2.0.496} WHQL'ed for XP.
  here --> ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57138.exe big_smile
readme --> ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57001-57500/sp57138.html

This driver (and the previous version, maybe earlier) have the same bug.  This should only effect models that make use of the 'customer1GreenTx.reg' registry settings.  If you have this setting available to you, try disabling "GreenTx" in the Advanced Settings tab in Device Manager if experiencing connection issues.

[customer1GreenTx.reg]
HKR, Ndi\params\GreenTx,                ParamDesc,                      0,        %GreenTx%
HKR, Ndi\params\GreenTx,                Base,                           0,        "10"
HKR, Ndi\params\GreenTx,                default,                        0,        "0"
HKR, Ndi\params\GreenTx,                type,                           0,        "enum"
HKR, Ndi\params\GreenTx\enum,           "0",                            0,        %GreenTxEnableOff%
HKR, Ndi\params\GreenTx\enum,           "15",                            0,        %GreenTxEnableOn%

That last line was updated in v10.0.0.42 non-WHQL (mentioned in the previous post.) to have a value of "1", not "15".  Despite having an earlier date than this driver (v9.2.0.496), v10.0.0.45 has many additional HWID's.

Edit:  {DriverVer = 04/12/2012, 10.0.0.51} non-WHQL for XP & XP64 is available
here --> http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content … 85100B.exe big_smile
One must extract them from the setup files, though.  Noted for anecdotal reasons.

Re: [REQ] WLAN - Atheros AR5xxx/AR9xxx updated drivers

That aforementioned bug is not present in the following driver.
AR5xxx/AR9xxx series updated to {DriverVer = 04/23/2012, 10.0.0.54} WHQL for XP & XP64
  from AsRock, here --> ftp://174.142.97.10/drivers/all/WLan/WL … .0.54).zip big_smile
Edit:  & Toshiba --> http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content … 85100B.exe {driver x=y}

Note: - Utility included in the AsRock package (may auto-connect to unencrypted WiFi nets)
        - many HWID's added
        - devices are now referenced as "Qualcomm Atheros Wireless Network Adapter"s.

And the version numerology plot thickens...
