Beneficial to them, how?

I can see your point (customer satisfaction and all), but explain that to a marketing guy, and in a way so that he will understand it, too...
Impossible!

(almost...)

How do you add an image as an attachment to a post?

You can't.
You need to upload them to an external host (imageshack.us works very well for me!), then use IMG appear.

Anyway, are you sure you didn't also use an AddOn for, say, ATi Tray Tools?

A screenshot would indeed be nice to identify them.
Is one of them the old-style and the other the new logo?
(old one is T and I are "merged" and new one is sparated letters)

rgr that.

Maybe it's simply not possible with this forum software (it's certainly not the best I have come across so far but more than adequate).

It's sad that the vendors dosn't agree on a standard of how to make drivers so that somthin like this could be a pice of cake.

A LOT of work would be a piece of cake if they did that.
Unfortunately, we're quite far from that... sad

That way, I don't get spammed with mail but I (hardly) miss any relevant replies wink

Should work by "edit", then tick the box to "delete".

Hard to tell for me because I can delete each and every post right away...
Anyway, if there is no such option, I'm willing to delete these posts in question wink

Well, we don't have that as far as I am informed.

While a good documentation of any changes, relations and dependancies is the 101 of teamwork, ours isn't that comprehensive.
It's probabaly also more than you'd ever need, normally.

It's quite possible some of these are long-time leftovers (can happen when a driver does not get updated a long time) or pure oversight during a stressful small hours session of our Driver Team work horses.

I'm sure you will excuse some unneeded files here and there as long as all the needed ones are in place big_smile

No, this deletion message is probabaly really bad worded and placed.

Firstly, you do not have to delete anything, however, you will have to do this manually if you want to clean up old, unneeded files.

This also only applies to the DriverPacks dir on the system you slipstreamed them into the source not the one you install with the disc containing the DriverPacks!.

It's just when your DPMS gets updated, the old QSC dir with the files from the previous version will stay - right along with the new dir (it does not cause any incompatibility issues or confuses the BASE or sth. like that when you do not delete it so it's way less critical than this "warning" makes it sound.
If you do not mind the additional ~5 MB of space wasted then just forget about ever deleting it smile

If you don't mind, could you include those updates in my pack?
I did a little cleanup with this (still some work left...) so it may be the better base to continue on.

Yes, indeed! big_smile

Already replied in that thread, btw (trying to keep things *a little* on-topic wink).

Where are they left over and what packs are you referring to?

Could be an oversight.
Please cross-check with the supported devices (http://driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/overview.php) and post in the appropriate DP forum if applicable.

AJenbo wrote:

Is there even a list of what drivers are in the packs? i would expect so or it would be imposible to maintain.

Sure is!

With Vista, yes, with XP, not AFAIK.
There may be some hacks allowing this oen way or the other but it's not officially supported, very much to my dismay (at least until I discovered the DriverPacks wink).

I think you can delete your own posts.
Better than leaving these husks of emptiness cluttering the forum.

Sorry mates, was kinda busy the last few days.
I got me an old but nice Dell Server (it was free so... wink) which I am still undertaking extensive testing.

The second reason why the update got delayed was that I am trying to update a few other TV cards while I'm on it (you know, you'll never get to it otherwise...).
Specifically ATi and Hauppauge ones in this case (any other requests welcome, but please supply links!).

Well, currently the server is copying some large chunk of files and although it uses a RAID array with six SCSI discs (I'm curious as to whether the controller will work properly with the DriverPacks big_smile) it takes a while, so I am back at this one now smile

It has been solved already --> http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1835

Wait it out, I'd say...

Thanks for the link, I'll see to it (probabaly merging recent update with the mod pack).

As for ther setting, I dunno where exactly it is in nLite off the top of my head, but I'm sure it's there, at least I am not getting bugged by these unsiged driver messages :shrugs:

It's also possible to use a "hacked" DLL for the same task, might even be nLite is doing just that (same as for the semi-opened connection limit - MS really knows how to annoy power users...)

I'm on it.

In the meantime, you guys can check out the tutorial link in my sig so you learn how to do it yourself next time wink tongue

I'd be glad if you found that thread.

As for the signed/unsigned issue, I can only recommend you di disable the Signed Driver Policy as a whole.
I, for one, am using nLite for the task.

I do not see any real pupose in this.
If I need one specific driver, I do not care whether it is signed or not, because either I am using the unsigned one or the device will not work at all.
Great choice.

And since, wherever possible the DriverPacks use signed drivers, it will not be a "loss of quality" for you, either.
In fact, I have seen more than enough WHQL-signed drivers that were still seriously bugged, so the signing doesn't really mean much after all.

It's the same as the SFP, it may be good for newbies but once you got the basic 101 of an OS fogured out, it's nothing but an annoyance...

Well, if the person who created these modded version can actually supply a changelog on them, I'm willing to use these for continued contribution.

Where do you search and where does it find them?
Inside this pack?

chud wrote:

I was previously using the modem pack Fragbert had modified and now just replaced with this one.

Which one was that?
The one with the "mod" in the file name?

It was asked several times what was up with these packs as they lacked any changelog entries as well as release threads.
Obviously, I did not use these but the last "official" pack to add the new driver to.

Because there are a lot of folks contributing to these 3rd party DriverPack, it is absolutely necessary to maintain a proper and comprehensive changelog and also either inform the Mods or the creator of the big sticky about any changes!
We need to update the sticky post so the links stay valid and other potential contributors know what files they have to use to add drivers to!

These "mod" files are a fine example of what will happen if the above is not taken seriously enough.

I can only urge everyone to simply drop me an email when they have updated the pack, the link is below my avatar.

Please check the wint.SIF, txtsetup.SIF and dosnet.INF encoding before and after DriverPacks.
Is there any difference?

I'll look into a solution but I'll need help from the rest of the team.

The best solution is to disable the Signed Drivers Policy right along with the System File Checker.
(nLite does this for me)

Nothing but trouble through them and the gains are close to none (plus, there are a lot of WHQL drivers that still don't work properly or "as expected"...).
