Again, a sort of open source package manager ("driver manager" in this case) would be great to me.
That package manager is already available? Or in development?
Wow
I'd never have thought of this
I quickly read through the topics you listed and I think this project can be of little use for ReactOS, because ReactOS seems to require open source drivers... which is something that's not been done by the DriverPacks.net project before, nor will it be done, at least not by me.
However, such a driver update program may exist in the future, since we're now building a database system for automatically building the Driverpacks, but we can of course build other apps around that database as well - which also was/is the goal.
1) The DriverPacks only include drivers that are either outdated in the default driver set of Windows, or that aren't included. So as few as possible double drivers are included. The .sy_ files are for text mode mass storage drivers. Driver.cab is not touched, because repackaging takes very long AND because the compression ratio sucks in comparison with 7-zip compression.
2) As answered by lightsout: yes, you can
Check the 3rd party DriverPacks
Are you still getting this error?
You will need to post the brand and model number if you want us to include this driver!

I tried to register for the wiki but I didn't get a confirm mail.
Are these accounts created automatically or do you create wiki accounts by hand?

The wiki at uawiki.org?
I don't think a confirmation e-mail is required there.
This is an interesting article that partially explains why there are so many different WLAN drivers.

Just so you know: if you slipstream the DriverPacks using nLite, it's not a true slipstream. Things such as method 2 and more importantly the DriverPacks Finisher will be completely missing then, which may have as a consequence not installed control panels or other exceptions.
lightsout wrote:Isn't DP for Linux is a bit redundant? Most Linux drivers get included in the kernel itself eventually, it is only the binary drivers that can't be included.
That's exactly what I thought as well. But heck, I'm definitely not a Linux expert
lightsout wrote:Bâshrat the Sneaky - err, the MassStorage DP was updated by me with a newer Intel MSM driver!
Yes, but it's far from a complete update yet... Plus you need a new DriverPacks BASE if there's a new DP MassStorage, and I'm still working on that.
BlackNinjaVirus wrote:This is what I ran into also.
ERD Commander 2005 runs on the WinPE platform which is not supported as I can project.
That's correct!
Thanks to muiz and Debugger, all DriverPacks except for CPU (which didn't need an update) and MassStorage have been updated! Several of them have a large amount of new drivers, as well (and partially thanks to Sereby for that).
Instead of posting a long, dull post with the changes here, I will simply refer you to the DriverPacks overview page, which some of you may not yet have discovered. On this page you can access the changelogs and the list of devices easily.
Thanks to the DriverPacks Team for their hard work!
... and now they're available
If you experience issues with the Finisher, please post your DPsFnshr.log file
As you can see here, GeForce Go devices are supported!
They will all come at once
It's coming soon Probably somewhere in the next few days. The bug you mention is already solved, so 6.12 should work perfectly for you then.
EDIT: I see you're from Belgium! Great to see not only use U.S. and German universities use the DriverPacks, but also Belgian!
VirtualPC emulates hardware, but not your hardware It emulates some very basic (and old) hardware.
If you want to test the DriverPacks on your own system, you'll have to use a spare HDD or an extra partition if you don't want to erase your current Windows.
It took me so long to update the website for DriverPack LAN (the changelog is massive for that one) that I won't be able to put them all online today, hence it will be delayed to tomorrow.
I only have to update the website for Sound A, B and WLAN and then it'll be available to all of you!

The test packs have been updated and tested every day by us team members!
Bâshrat the Sneaky has been Tied up cramming and examming...
and he has to check, test and do a final sign off on all the packs before there is a release!
I think you will be very pleased with all the new drivers we updated/added into the packs.
As always the time and date of the next release is "very soon!".
And now: very very soon Probably today, else tomorrow.
