Glad it worked. As for the -clean, I have never got it to work. It should clean out the critical database list to the default list from xp + whatever storage controller is installed. I would just leave it alone. If you ever have to pull the hard drive out and place it in another (not exact config) computer, you will want those items in the database so you can boot. It could be a life/time saver.

I doubt there is tpm in the dx6100.

I looked up your hardware IDs for the dx6100:

These are contained in your sysprep.

I did notice that you removed a lot of the entries for machine.inf and mshdc.inf. I would recommend adding those back to your sysprep.inf. I would think that it should solve your issues.

Can you post your sysprep.inf? For the dell 990, I doubt the standard pci ide controller would work. Can you change hard drive modes in the bios for the dell, like ahci, raid, legacy..etc? Do you use a script/program to change different computer types?

The -bmsd option only grabs the default controllers built into xp. Due to a ram limitation of XP, you also can't load every driver included with the XP Mass storage driver pack. Also, some of the drivers are not compatible with XP.
You can try my sysprep package for xp: http://www.mediafire.com/?kshl9q7ls4wapuk
Pack includes drivers and populated sysprep.inf.The pnp switch is not needed; it only adds time to the deployment.

Great work on the scanner. I have been using it for a long time. One minor bug: When choosing to look for a folder, it only allows me to browse the C drive. I can't choose any other drive. It will allow me to type/paste other drives and folders into the box.

Which driverpack did you try to integrate? None of the driver packs listed are compatible with x64 xp pro. Even if you get it installed, I'm sure you are going to have a very hard time finding all of the other drivers for x64 xp.
You may want to try loading x32 winxp. You will obviously not be able to take advantage of all of the ram, but I think you would have an easier time to install and get working.

It sounds like a mass storage controller issue. Sysprep -bmsd only grabs drivers built into windows. Any storage controllers that are in driverpacks need to be referenced manually in you sysprep.inf. An example below:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3A22&CC_0106="C:\D\M\I9\iaAHCI.inf" ; hdc - Intel(R) ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller

Keep in mind that you have limited memory for loading storage controllers so you can't load all of the storage controllers that are in the mass storage driver packs. Also not all of the drivers are sysprep compatible.

It sounds like you existing images are not compatible and/or the driverstore is corrupt. At minimum with windows 7, if you do not have the intel sata drivers integrated, it should still boot with the default ms ahci driver. On your failed deployed image computer, boot with your PE disk. Look in your windows directory for setup*.log files. They may give you more insight as to what is failing during the sysprep process.

Instead of pnputil, you may want to try to use dism instead. There are tutorials on the forum that walk you through the process. As a side note, I use the dism route and have imaged the r500 and r61 with out issues.

Without seeing what is in your sysprep mass storage section, I/we can't help you much. It sounds like your ahci driver is not being loaded correctly.
Here is my custom xp pack for mass storage. Sysprep.inf with populated mass storage section us included. Make sure drivers are in c:\d\m folder if you wish to try it out.

The specs for the Intel G33 call for ICH9R mass storage controller. The gateway drivers have vista ahci drivers for the ich9r, but I didn't see any for XP. The hardware id is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2922&CC_0106 and can be found in I6 folder of the mass storage pack.

For your Vm, edit the vmx file and change scsi0.present = "TRUE" to scsi0.present = "FALSE". It should no longer detect your marvell controller.
