Topic: [SLVD] Black Screen at Setup start, DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1203

Hello, I'm trying to integrate the DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1203 into my XP copy. I've sucefully integrated it with DriverPackBASE aplication, but when I do launch the setup with VMWare, It boots, start loading, but when it should show the XP User Licence, it give me nothing more than a Blackscreen.

I'm testing with VMWare. and I'm using a retail copy of XP-SP3.

I was thinking it was nLite, so i Did one wihout it, just making the ISO trough it Same result.

It isn't a bad copy of XP. It runs fine.

I also integrated the LAN driverpack, but I doubt that it is the cause of the problem.

Ah, since i'm posting this, is those drivers integrated there?

Hmmm, can you post your HWID list?

Re: [SLVD] Black Screen at Setup start, DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1203

I don't think that it will make any difference anyway.

This hardware id is getting matched by DriverPack MassStorage to the Marvell drivers in section [M]

That may be the problem if you don't have a Marvell SATA controller.  VMware passes some hardware info from the Host to the VM.

Re: [SLVD] Black Screen at Setup start, DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1203

So, it should run fine in a physical computer?

Yes, I probably have a Marvell Sata controler. My MoBo is a ASUS P5-GPL-X SE and it have some marvell controller stuff in there.

Is there a way to make VMWare stop freezing the VM at the state?

No.  We don't use any modified drivers in DriverPack MassStorage.

For your Vm, edit the vmx file and change scsi0.present = "TRUE" to scsi0.present = "FALSE". It should no longer detect your marvell controller.

Am I being dim?

why wouldn't you use mass storage, chipset and then the LAN one you want?

Re: [SLVD] Black Screen at Setup start, DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1203

I am creating a Universal Windows XP Disc. Dunno, I probably will do it now.

Weird. In the http://br.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_S … ifications It says that it is:

Intel ICH6 South Bridge:
1 x UltraDMA 100/66/33
4 x Serial ATA

So, no Marvell controller, But yes, there is a Marvell LAN in there "Marvell 88E8001 Gigabit LAN" That I disabled in the BIOS since it is burned. (damn storms tongue)

BigFoot:
Thanks man. After waiting 2 minutes it show up the Windows Install stuff. lulz. It is slow, but if it is only in the beginning detection, it wont be a problem for me.

Alright. Now, I want to know why the User licence and the "Press R to recover console" don't show up anymore when I use the driverpack integrator, It jumps directly to the HD setup tongue

Re: [SLVD] Black Screen at Setup start, DP_MassStorage_wnt5_x86-32_1203

The recovery console is removed because DriverPacks BASE sets the option (UnattendedInstall="Yes") in the winnt.sif file.
This is by design.
If you have (OemSkipEula="Yes") set then the license agreement is skipped.
For more winnt.sif options you can read here: http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/19/
