well if we can belive what we see. The "CAUSE" (or the why if you will) is listed by MS above.
I am almost done putting it back in. (the hard part was finding the old 7zip file (thanks Jaak))

apparently we used to slipstream kb883667 and then stopped installing it - but never stopped uninstalling it...
i am considering installing it again...
another discovery apparently support for kb883667 is already written into base however for some strange reason it was added around base ver 6.06 and dropped around version 6.08 i don't know why...
so i will re-enable support for kb883667 in RC3 - please let me know if it is also needed for xpsp3
thank you see you soon
check it out
see the news page ![]()
implemented in base801rc2 see news page
there was a problem with QSC off you can try turning it on or try the test version of base if you like (see the news)
Release Candidate for DriverPacks Base is available
Are you Tech enough?
Added XP SP3 (RC1) support.
Fixed the code that caused the nested folder error in method one when QSC was off (the \D\D\ problem)
Corrected the M1 bug that added the $OEM$ folders and finisher files when only mass storage textmode was selected. If only textmode is selected then these files and folders are not needed.
Corrected the M1 bug that did not copy the INI files for the packs to the \$OEM$\$1 with the finisher files.
Corrected - needs an extra " added at the end of the line for BusExtenders.Load line in mass storage module for BartPE
Added support for HJW update packs (similar to RyanVM update packs)
Added a fix for the Setupold.exe problem
when an XP repair-setup was run on a machine originaly loaded with Driverpacks M2 drivers then setup would fail with the error cannot create setupold.
new command line switch by request /proxy
Usage /proxy:"LocalProxy:Port"[,"Username","Password"]
examples
DPs_BASE.exe /proxy:"192.168.1.1:8080"
DPs_BASE.exe /proxy:"LocalProxy:8080","administrator","password"
A new method for Chipset? stay tuned to see.
please test everything!!!!
I feel confident it is solid - but I can only do so much testing on my own.
Please read the topic, because it has some info about why there are changes.
For those of you willing to test,
this is the link to DPs_BASE_801RC2
I did a little digging regarding kb883667
Description; Windows XP Setup program may stop responding during video driver installation
When an OEM performs a factory installation of an OEM version of Microsoft Windows XP, or when you use a Sysprep image to install Windows XP, the Setup program may stop responding during the video driver installation process.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of a problem with the Video.inf file. If a driver is signed, but the driver does not include an .inf file that describes child devices, such as monitors, the installation may stop responding.
OK
Makes sense... now, my discovery
The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table.
Date Time Version Size File name Service pack level
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
12-Aug-2004 17:57 5.1.2600.1582 237,568 Newdev.dll SP1QFE
12-Aug-2004 17:50 5.1.2600.2505 247,808 Newdev.dll SP2QFE
XP sp2 Reports 5.1.2600.2853
XP sp3 Reports 5.1.2600.3244
can we test this with xpsp3 using the rc version of base?
edit....
newer release candidate out http://dev.driverpacks.thesneaky.com/dr … 801RC2.exe
/edit...
if the updated Newdev.dll from sp3 fixes it i won't bother adding the hotfix.
ps the hotfix consists of;
replaceing the i386/newdev.dl_ with the hotfix version
and if we were living right createing the registry entrys @
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\HotFix\KB883667
This may also help with laptop installs...
Awsome

Hello welcome to DriverPacks
DriverPacks is designed to be for disk based installations and also supports mass storage for BartPE
RIS SysPrep and other non CD/DVD type installs are not supported by the program.
If you do a search for RIS you will find some very useful input to help you
start here http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2225
ICH8M-E PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2828 does not seem to be covered by /I2
although i think there is a similar HWID in / I3 IAAHCI.inf
; ICH8M
%PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2829&CC_0106.DeviceDesc% = iaStor_mobl_Inst, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2829&CC_0106
can we see your DPs_BASE.log and DPs_BASE.ini from the same directory as DPs_BASE.exe
a nulled driver is not copied to the 1386 folder and not added to txtsetup
but should still be available during pnp setup - the ini entries should only apply for mass storage text mode and the finisher for all others
si~
please read the read before you post below
that was much more clear! yes now i understand what you are asking
as far as i know there is no way to make an incd bootable, and even if you could it would quickly become fragmented.
i didnt say updateing an iso was lame i said incd was lame.
Thanks for the feedback LioN - always nice to hear back when it works!!!
your english was fine!
Shark i think you may misunderstand what we do here.
we are not a forum that caters to noobs.
We provide DriverPacks that are added to your installation disk.
I get the impression you just want us to look up your machine, figure out wich drivers you need, and provide them to you. We have not in the past nor will we in the future provide that service. If i understand correctly what you want, you need to ask Sony for them yourself.
if you use driverpacks and find that a driver you need is not in the packs then you need to go out and find it yourself.
Once you have discoverd a driver that is not in the packs and gone out and found it yourself
then you may come back here provide the HWID for the device and a link to the driver that works for that HWID and make a request that we add to to our packs.
