Topic: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

I'm getting the classic STOP: 0x0000007B error with  MassStorage 7.12. I've got a DFI Infinity RS482 mobo.  It requres the Si3112r driver and ATI SB450 chipset. I've tried all the sata/raid/ide bios setting to no avail. Do I need to slipstream the chiset drivers as well? Or perhaps the driver is missing from the mass storage pack? (there is no si3112r.sys). I see a reference to it in the ini. Are the drivers being loaded in the wrong order. Hope this helps.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hello usficcient and Welcome to DriverPacks.
We are glad your here.

XP SP3 is not yet supported (and it is not officialy released yet) and there is a known issue with HDA KB888111 and SP3, did you try it with SP2?

Obviously si3112 drivers are included or you would not have found your HDD in text mode for partitioning, formating and initial file copy.
Chipset and CPU packs are highly recomended and may solve your problem since the PnP HDD drivers depend on both - as do video and sound.
Did you try method 2?

Fall back to xp sp2 (you can install sp3 after your up and running we don't officialy support Beta or RC releases)
Add at least Chipset and CPU.
set QSC to enable and use method 2 and report back.

Thanks for providing good details in your title and post.

OK, I'll get back to you with the results.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

I used a fresh xp sp3 directory this time slipstreaming the chipset, CPU, LAN, WLAN, and MassStorage packs using method 2/QSC. Same old Stop Error. I failed to mention that I'm using nLite 1.4.1 as well (using fully automated install; NO components removed). I used DriverPacks on the latter half so there shouldn't be any issues. Also, should I check or uncheck the oem install in nLite?

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

If you run DriverPacks as the last step in your install It will set the OEM install selection correctly for you.

It is well documented and extremely important that DriverPacks is - The Last Step - prior to making your ISO.

SP3 is still not supported...

There ARE KNOWN ISSUES with driverpacks and XP SP3
(until you try an XP SP2 install we won't know if you have found yet another one.)

1 use an XP SP2 source - Until we have a beta version of base with SP3 support
2 make sure DriverPacks is the VERY LAST  step in your UWXP preparation before you create the ISO.

If you are unable to try this with xp sp2 you will have to wait for the release of base when we announce officialy supporting XP SP3.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hi,
welcome to DriverPacks.

I would like to know which BIOS version this Silicon Chip has.

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Alright, this time I used a fresh XP SP2 directory.

Made UWXP with nLite install followed by integrating the driver packs w/QSC. Basically the same thing as before except with SP2.

RESULTS: Same exact STOP Error

Hardware Specifications: DFI RS482 Infinity - Silicon Version 4.2.49, SB450 based
ATI 437A Serial ATA Controller (Si3112r.inf)

=======================================================================

I found a bios update for the 3112 controller but it seems to be made for add-in cards.  The latest one is 4.2.84. Will it work?

SiI3112 - PCI to 2 Port SATA150

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

the bios for the add on cards will work but it is very difficult to add to your existing bios (requires hacking your OEM bios in binary.

Jaak is asking what the current bios for yoru system is because we have several versions of the si3112 driver. different bios versions require different drivers. (yes this is true - you must have the version of the driver that matches your version of the bios) Old bios old driver / new bios new driver. again to reiterate if you have the old bios version for SI3112 then you must also have the older driver version too. We have both driver versions in the packs and a routine to match them up.

So the question is extremely important - what is your current bios version for your si3112???

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hi,
I got the driver from DFI. (They list two, these are identical, tho.)
We have same version, but it has fewer HWIDs for ATI when I compare the DFI with Silcon's original download.

Also note, Silicon's page says .x.84, and the download page itself says x.83.
If you really want to risk flashing the onboard, you need a version for onboard.
I will look at the files, and see if I can fix this for us.
When I have a file ready, you would be the ideal tester.
If you want to help us help you all, please hang on.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hi all, after a véry long time "offline" i hope i can dive right in here.

I suffer the same BSOD (again) as Usficcient with the Si3112r..

Still having the Asus a7N8X-E deluxe mainboard, Si3112 Bios says 4.2.47
(I haven't got a clue how to update it... maybe Jaak knows in Dutch..)

Current driver version: 1.0.56.1

Overflow mentioned "We have both driver versions in the packs and a routine to match them up" "for old bios/new bios"
I looked it up in the Supported Devices list of the MassStorage package, it only mentions about Bios version 4.x.84 !!

I will be around here because maybe i can do some testing again for you guys.
Let me hear what you need to know or to let me test, ill give it a go!

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hey guys, back from a long pause in driverpacks-fiddling. Busy at work and stuff ........

Anyway, this week I tried to make a new integrated XP CD, and I read the recent changes you guys made to the mass-storage packs, so I decided to give it a go again with the new driverpacks. With the new mass-storage driverpacks I again was greeted by the wellknown 0x0..7B BSOD, but the strange thing was that I got it instantly, even before initial copy of install files. Normally I would see files being copied to HD and the setup would BSOD while starting the GUI part, but now it already crashes BEFORE file-copy.

I did make a different kind of integrated cd, since I tried to integrate IE7 and WMP11 into it, so that may be the problem. I'm gonna make a vanilla SP2 cd with only the driverpacks again to try some things out. Hopefully work pressure will allow it.

Ow, BTW, SATA controler is a Silicon Image 3112 SATALink card with an Atmel AT49BV512 chip. May be usefull info ......

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

I've done a new XPCD with no joy..

Clean XPpro SP2, Integrated only the MassStorage pack with default settings.
Burned the thing with Nlite and pushed it in the drive.

Again..BSOD 0X..07B

Tomorrow i will try something i've done in the past to check it out:
Clean XPpro SP2 and only integrate the Sii3112R drivers with Nlite.

Lets see if that will work again, like it did for me last time.
That was at the beginning when we bounced forthe first time in to this problem.

Ill report back then.

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hi

please all check WHICH BIOS this Sil 3112 chip uses.
I know 3112 was not tested enough. (for lack of people with that hardware).

usficcient could try the x84 with Nlite, and not do mass storage.
If the newest works on old BIOS, it would be a LOT easier.

Here's some more info on my driver situation. I'm currently using Vista X86  and installed it with the ATI 437A Serial ATA Controller from usb (ver. 1.7.0.51; 8/27/2004). I ran windows update and here are the changes for the SATA Conrtollers. Have installed XP SP2 successfully with this driver before (don't know what version it was as I do not have a floppy drive anymore, just assuming it's the one still avaliable online through DFI [1.5.0.51]).

Using Silicon Image bios  Ver. 4.2.49.

I'm a bit lost...
What do you mean by downgrading?
The driver version or the Bios??

My bios version is 4.2.47
And guess what, when i let WINXP do a automatic check for new drivers (on my 2nd pc, same hardware) it found new drivers that are not listed by Sillicon!!

Driver Version 1.0.62.0

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Okay i'm testing something right now, and it allready works, no BSOD so far, it's just installing fine!

- ASUS A7N8X-XE Deluxe Mainboard with a integrated SiI 3112 Sata controller
- SiI3112 Bios version: 4.2.47 (on screen showed during boot)
- Configuration is a Raid-0 set (with 2x 120GB)

Used Nlite on the following:
- XPpro, SP2 (english)
- Integrated driver version: 03/14/2006, 1.0.56.1 (directly from Sillicon website)

Nothing else, and it works pretty well.
But as soon as it comes with a driverpack..BSOD

What's next to do or what do you need from me?

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

Hi all,
I hope that the work I just did will fix the situation.
I will run a few preliminary tests on the testpack before I upload.

During the testing of what became 712, we decided to NOT tag HWIDs with &CC_0104 for the RAID drivers.
Well, I started by using spotlight on the 3112 drivers we had, and could see some HWIDs which most definitely required the tag. The raid and base mode driver should no longer conflict on these three.
(Yep, I found only three, but you would be so unlucky to have that HWID loading the wrong mode for your machine.. This one could explain instant BSOD.)
The three dupes for base mode will get tagged &CC_0101 so that base mode would not load when it is set to RAID mode.

I also worked on SiS for those with that 180/181/182 HWID.
I found original WHQL drivers. The original sytem binaries already had unique names.
Funny thing is this, the system binaries and INF files for 2000/2003/XP would be same, but the CATalog files were different.
Had they used unique names for the catalog files, I could have used them CATs.
The SiS driver for 180/181/182 will be in one folder.
The SiS driver for 184/185 could not be put in that folder.

Intel ICH7/ICH9 update will finally be included, and I got to do a few Adaptec drivers as well.
One of the LSI SAS driver required a fix as well.

I'll give a yell when it is uploaded.

Hoi Jaak,

I've made a new XPCD with the MassStorage testpack you put online for us.
Only the the testpack, nothing else on the cd.

I'm sorry, after copying the files over and right first reboot... BSOD...

It didn't do the job as we would like to.

Tell me, how can i be of service?
(and i don't meean by handing over a christmas packet smile )

Re: [BSOD] 0x0000007B Error with MassStorage 7.12 (Si3112r, ATI SB450)

7123nightly was...... pulled
no changes to Silicon h*ll

I am trying to locate original download for Silicon 3112 (for ATI southbridge) 1.16.0.51
(I did find fresh files in ati catalyst with version 1.7.0.51 but want an unedited higher version 1.x.0.51 because 1.x.0.51 all use same binaries.)

I see you have BIOS 4.2.47 and can use 03/14/2006, 1.0.56.1
I'll look at its HWIDs again. I believe it has a rather short list of ATI HWIDs..

If you want, you could edit mass storage pack and only use silicon sections so as to find out if there is a NON silicon causing the crash.
