with the DPInst tool in the driverpacks it only takes about 3 minutes to process the entire set of packs...

not really much time to be saved...

Glad to see you able to take advantage of our offer to host your app!

Keep doing "that VooDoo that You Do so well" (I of course quote - Headly Lamar, Blazing Saddles)

If there is anything else we can do, just ask. Have a great day!

they are good to go now, sync complete

i second that. who cares how long an unattended process takes (within reason)

By explaining in detail the steps you take this is in many ways a guide for others and for me
I am formulating the support of sysprep in my mind and ultimately will as a supported feature.

just because i don't like it doesn't mean I will not at some point provide DPs_Base support for you guys.
(If MS hasn't already with the DPInst.exe tool)

feedback from you guys and Skinlayers and JakeLD will ultimately make it happen.

That's it I am going to sticky this
another very nice post DeTard

now that is an outstanding idea... that should work quite well in fact... good thought Galapo

LOL how is that for service! rofl

Looks like we released new versions of the sound packs a few minutes ago,
and the repository hasn't synced up with the download server completely yet.

on it!

hmm not working for me either.

I was thinking about this and came to an easy way to sumarize the difference between the two schools of thought.

it is a before or after choice.

with a UWXP install you use tools to automate your entire install includeing apps to arrive at a finished solution
(the single user experience for everyone with all settings and programs installed with their presets done by the setup)

with SysPrep someone manually installs all the programs and settings and then manually makes that install a template.
the single user experience for everyone with all settings and programs  installed with their presets done by the tech with a checklist)

I like the first version because the end result eliminates the manual steps and results in every machine being a master.
and has fewer issues and takes less of your time to setup and maintain, both short and long term.
If the end result of your automated install is a finished product then there is no need to use sysprep,
although if you used the ouput of this for sysprep it would save lots of time and elimnate exposure to the meat virus.

either way if i had such an install prepared i would rather use ghost than sysprep but that is just MHO.

your title is perfect! lol, i love it

Any Progress to report?

In process since sp1...

That is a very nice summary perhaps even worthy of a sticky and its own topic in this forum...

i zapped your double wink

you may experience this type of issue when updateing an existing source with driverpacks.

It is best to always use a clean source;
then add your updates, then your automated settings, and then DriverPacks last.

IE if you take a source that has had updates added after DriverPacks
then you will be unsuccessful in re-adding DriverPacks to that source.
the reason for this is simple, DriverPacks backs up and restores txtsetup.sif.
so if you add updates that also modify txtsetup.sif (after it is backed up by base)
then when you run DriverPacks a second time the original txtsetupsif is restored (and thus corrupted)

Please always include in your post - the version of base that you were useing
See read before you post in my signature and please provide the required info
also include details about any other changes you make to your source before or after DriverPacks.
PS you didn't even say if the file was missing, or if it was corrupted.
even knowing that might have been a little helpful to us. Good details lead to your good results.

Welcome to DriverPacks and have a great day.

I am so glad that you were able to get it... and i am glad you let us know you could...

I still am not sure why certain people have issues... sad

if we have a file issue on the server we will get a dozen posts added to the first one
and usually a second or third thread in a very short period of time.
I try to verify all reports of issues immediately when i see them.

when thousands of people are downloading it successfully,
and only one or two have / report issues, then it is difficult to find that issue from our side.
I will continue to see if i can find a pattern to the reports
but there are very few problems and no common denominator

It sends me an email if it is assigned to me...

the default assignment is to Bâshrat the Sneaky

so he gets all the emails until i take the time to review them and take ownership.
perhaps i should be the default assignee for now?
Bâshrat the Sneaky will have to change that if it makes sense.

thank you
feedback makes DriverPacks better for everyone!

that is very generous of you ophielix - thank you.

I am sorry i could not follow your last post
except for the part where you indicate we are missing a driver.

are you writing this in English, or are you using the Google or some other translator

i try very hard to understand everyone
and i attempt to be very patient
we know that not everyone speaks English, so there is no need to apologise.

Can you rephrase your last post please - I am sorry to have to ask you to do this.

Taking a look at it - again -

i think i my have to look at the IP addresses of the users reporting issues
perhaps one of their servers is not correctly synced with the others.

--------------------------- edit -----------------------------------

well the ip addresses are in the us and finland so that is not helpful.
and I was once again able to get it successfully... at 800kbs too

no clue why you are haveing issues. are you all downloading from the link
here?

have you all cleared your temp files so you are getting the current link instead of a cached copy of the page with the link to the old server.
