OK, just to keep everyone updated on my progress, I've had two successful tests and one failure.
I built another G_A from scratch, using un-pruned ATI .inf files.
I used the driver files from:
Nvidia 177.98 beta (WHQL), with pruned .infs (zero HWID overlap).
8-8_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_67975.exe (desktop Catalyst)
8-8-igp_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_sb_gart_enu_67975.exe (IGP Catalyst)
8-8-mobile_xp32_dd_ccc_enu_67239.exe (mobile Catalyst)
agp-hotfix_xp32_67246.exe (AGP hotfix requested by Helmi)

These along with the newer WDM/driver files included in the AIW-HD package supplied by Helmi

Here's the tests:
1) Nvidia 8800GTS--> success! smile
2) ATI Radeon x600--> success! smile
3) ATI Radeon HD3450--> FAILURE BSOD at T-34
4) ATI Radeon Mobility 9600--> success! smile

I think what's causing my BSOD is the AGP hotfix.  I'm going to build another G_A dp without the hotfix and see if that solves my problem (sorry Helmi).

Sorry to keep everyone waiting.  I'm still having problems with BSOD triggered by the \A1\ files.  I'm starting from square-zero to iron it out.  BTW, ATI removed a whole bunch of supported HWIDs from their mobile drivers.  I can compensate for that, but if driver-signing is critical then I recommend sticking with Catalyst 8.7 which is the last version to cover all the mobile chips.

The WHQL beta 177.98 drivers in \N1\ are working well for me, but they're still beta (even if they are WHQL) which precludes us from using them (mantra: NO beta!).
So it looks like unless nvidia comes out with a unified driver by the end of the month, we won't be able to go final release until at least 8.10 sad

You didn't mention it, so we don't know.  Did you mean the Creative XFi?  If so, we need to know lots of details you didn't mention.
Read this post: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?pid=4#p4
Also, did you try installing the latest drivers from Creative.com? (assuming you're talking about the XFi, which you didn't mention.)

Additionally, the team spent a LOT of time (maybe 100 man-hours?) making sure this dp worked perfect.  Yours is the first report out of thousands of downloads.
Personally, I've had major problems getting the latest creative drivers into our DriverPacks.  I've all but given up on this latest batch.

If PhysX is integrated into their drivers, I'll add it in.
If it's a separate installer (like it is now), I'll make a 3rd party dp.  Maybe a Graphics_D? wink

Everyone happy? smile

Did you look in the DriverPacks Finisher .ini? wink
(hint: sometimes it's a switchless installer, sometimes it's a filecopy)

Fragbert wrote:

it *IS* part of nvidia's official whql driver now, so if that's the motto we stick with...

Actually, PhysX is NOT part of the latest WHQL beta v177.98 (included in the forthcoming 8.09d).  I have a separate installer for it.
Who knows what Nvidia will do when they go final with their unified drivers.

I can confirm Realtek worked fine for me. big_smile

Yes, but you confirmed \R2\ right?  I need someone to confirm \R1\ and \R3 (HDMI port).

I can run tests tonight on my notebook to confirm \R1\

And I still need to prune the S_A .infs to remove any "Super-Generic" HWIDs before we can finalize.

The PhysX installer is a monolithic .exe called by the finisher.  I was using the presence of nv4_mini.sys as a trigger for the DriverPacks Finisher to call the installer with the /qb switch.
I was going to leave it out anyway unless there was a massive amount of people wanting it installed...I guess nobody wants it.  smile
Because it offloads the physics calcs from the CPU to the GPU, it's GPU specific.  From what I've read, it's only supported by nvidia 8xx0 and 9xx0 series GPUs (but can be hacked to work on others).

Anyway, the BSOD problem was caused by G_A 8.09b \A1\mobility.inf.  Remove mobility.inf and zero problems.
I know this works because I'm using my test-bed to type this now. big_smile

I'm debugging now...

Soon...soon...
I'm pruning the .infs now.
I'll upload tomorrow if all tests go well.

What's everyone's opinion on the Nvidia PhysX installer?  Should it be included in our DriverPacks release?  Or leave it as a separate installer (d/l from Nvidia).
It's an extra 50MB (uncompressed) that will have to go somewhere.  I'd prefer to leave it out.  Smaller d/l sizes are also a priority.
Let the masses decide...

Solved it! big_smile
Whenever you have hens that won't lay eggs...change your co...uh rooster.
Whenever you have unexplainable BSODs...change your source!
My source became corrupted between uninstalling/reintegrating DriverPacks, and testing new XPtsp theme patches. (oops).
Fresh source, zero problems. smile

Was it intentional to have overlapping hwids in nvdisp.inf and nvdisp2.inf?

No, I was just too tired to care when I packaged it up.  The problem is that all three \N1 .inf files are causing a BSOD at T-34 for me.  The previous nightly worked fine.
I'm rebuilding the G_A nightly from scratch and will be 8.09c (after I perform in-depth testing!).

ATI works fine though.

The reason they're so small is because their ATI package probably doesn't include a ATICCC or CCP (I'll bet languages are missing too).
Oh, and we're onto Catalyst 8.8 now. wink

I'm actually debating getting this same card (with the AV100 chip) for my own rig.
I'm fed up with creative's (uncreative) drivers and I'm jumping ship.
This asus card is getting to be fairly mainstream so it'll probably go nicely in S_A.
I'll look into it.

Thanks for your post.  I had already added the previous version to our latest nightly dp (which you don't have access to).

I'll update our nightly.  Moving closer to release. smile

Don't worry about the .ini dstarfire.  Even if you leave orphaned entries in there, the DriverPacks Finisher is smart enough to ignore them if the folder isn't present.  Hack away!
Your G_A DriverPacks .ini doesn't have any entries for N1 because they weren't implemented back in April when that dp was built.  Helmi and I are too used to working with the nightly builds.

I believe what he's asking for is the S.A.D (Stand Alone Driver disc) function.  So he can update the drivers on a currently running XP system, not integrate the drivers into the XP source.

But regardless, mcgiwer your request is either already implemented in the current test builds (if I'm right), or it will never be (if OverFlow is right).

Is there no solution for this problem ?

Yes, bring your problem to "unattended.sourceforge.net".  They are causing your problem.  That's just sloppy coding on their part.

Besides, DriverPacks should ALWAYS be integrated last.  That way all the required folders are placed in the correct places and the required files are edited correctly.

OK you two, calm down.
mcgiwer, what you are requesting is already implemented in the latest DPs_BASE Alpha in testing now (and that function works very, very well).  You do NOT have access to this test file YET.
We are pushing for a release very, very soon for both the BASE application, and new DriverPacks as well.
All we ask is that you be patient with us.  We are working hard.
