Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

No, a HWIDs report would look something like this:

So for the 3rd time...please post your ENTIRE HWID list using the tool in my signature AND post the entire list of DriverPacks that you used (with version numbers).

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

if you post your BASE log then you will have all the packs listed... the
'DPs_BASE.log" will (normally) be in the DriverPacks BASE folder and on the root of your install disc OR in the root of your source folder used to slipstream the packs. Additionally DriverPacks BASE will archive your logs in a subfolder of DriverPacks BASE with time and date stamps. It would be quite difficult to lose them all.

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

Hi,
in your link, it's said "HWID's (Hardware Identification numbers) are almost always helpful" - I didnt want to spam all the not relevant hwids.... so I posted the relevant HWID of the not detected SATA-Controller only. I'll post them all later.
@Overflow
As I mentioned before, the DriverPacks BASE folder (and the source folder) do not exist anymore. The root of my install disks has no .log-file at all, I would have posted it already if I could
Its not quite difficult to lose them all, as they're not included on the disc (at least not in root folder) and the system I used to create the cd was formatted using the cd afterwards...

As I mentioned before: I used all the non-3rd-party driver packs plus the ones I mentioned in their most current version. I think this should be the list of packs.

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

OK, from your list, two packs can be ripped out:
CPU    10.05 (replaced/included in Chipset pack)
Monitors    10.05 (Not meant for integration.  Folder structure mess will cause all other drivers to fail)

Still waiting for HWIDs

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

So I wonder why DPBas lists CPU and Chipset still seperately?! - but well, DP_Base does not Support Vista/7. Any plans for a updated Version?

I wonder why there is a pack not meant for integration (1st afaik its not mentioned anywhere, 2nd in both cases it will be extracted from 7z and the sytem/setup will be pointed to that directory ?!) - and you said it will cause all other drivers to fail - I used the Disk on several Systems without a problem (including no undetected devices)?!

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

DriverPacks BASE is being updated.  Hopefully we'll see a final product by Xmas.
Third Party DriverPacks are not generally recommended for integration.  You can integrate some, but too many will cause all drivers to fail.  This is a known problem.

Yes, those HWIDs look much better.  I'll see what I can do.
Do any previous versions of dpms work?

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

I dont know, never used one of the previous disks on that specific laptop.
Sounds great to finally have a 7 compatible Version by the end of this year,as I slowly have to drop my favourite (XP) wink

thanks for you patience & help smile

Does your i386\txtsetup.sif connect the HardwareID to nvgts6 ?

Try update setupreg.hiv http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 325#p30325

Does textmode part detect a hard disk now?

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0555&CC_0106
is not in txtsetup.sif,
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0555
is in it!

what does the update do? you want me to burn a new disk with the updated setupreg.hiv and then try to install on that laptop, right? Can try it next weekend.

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

If you have time, can you test our nvidia "feedback" packs?
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=4742

It's possible your HWID needs to be moved to a different section but we need to know what works or not.

Adds a registry setting for driver nvgts.

Yes, this would be nice.
Be aware, that's a intermediate step. Text mode only so far.

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

well, after updating i cannot move the file, seems like its still mounted to the registry?!

mr_smartepants:

I spend about 4 hours now building, burning and testen the 18 disks. None of them was able to detect a drive (unknown disk - there is no disk in this drive) [hope this is the right translation]

The last line "reg.exe unload HKLM\loaded_SYSTEM" should unload registry file, hence not mounted anymore.

Run regedit.exe, does exist a hive "HKLM\loaded_SYSTEM" ?
Unload the hive.

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

using the orininal with your update seems to work, at least i can see the disk now. as you said its textmode only, I did not run setup yet....

OK, that's discouraging.  Thank you for testing.  If none of them work, then cdob's method may be your only hope.

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

That's easy.  Nvidia drivers suck!

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

the answer is that certain drivers do not directly support Text Mode, AKA the "F6" drivers, AKA DOS. Of the thousands of mass storage drivers we include only a hand full have this issue.

the command PnP, 5 forces text mode to use the PnP driver in text mode.
this is just lazyness on the part of the suppliers of the driver, that is to say they distribute an incomplete driver, one that lacks text mode support.

To find more info search the forum for related terms like "setupreg.hiv" "PnpInterface"

To put it simply... Erik says,  "Nvidia drivers suck!"

Ask Nvidia driver author why a strange approach is choosen. http://www.nvidia.com

There is a registry testing approach at DriverPacks.net testing section.
I doubt access given to a compromised bug... account.

http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 557#p46557
Can you ask a admin to get a private account and access to testing section?

Re: [SLVD][11.04 and 11.06][slipstreamer]XP CD doesn't see my SATA HDD

compromised? Its not banned, so I think it has not been used for spamming?!

As I said before I tried to register, but I never received the mail.

btw this policy is quite strange - trying to register now, the software only tells me "This forum is not accepting new registrations." - So a regular user does not see, that this is for spam reasons and that he should ask an admin for an account. (I dont even know if (s)he has any possibility to ask an admin.

We had to do this because the forums were getting bombarded with spam-bots.  We were deleting about 50+ accounts per day.
Forum registrations are now locked until we get a chance to upgrade the server to the latest version.
No need to re-register.  You already have an account.
I've promoted you to the "testing team", at least temporarily.  This will give you access to the thread cdob is referring to.

*Edit
Nevermind.  That acct is now banned.  Remove the account information from this site!
