You are correct, but there's nothing to be alarmed about.  Jaak (jtdoom) modified my original DP and re-uploaded using the same file name (fixed an Intel issue).

Thank you for pointing that out.

Updated MD5 and changlog for G_B test2

@Team members:  This is why it's important to post MD5 hashes with your links.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Hi !

One comment towards the Graphics_A 7.07test3 build. I recently integrated this version for a Windows XP install CD for a friend of mine who had built a new PC using a GF 8600 card. He now told me that the videocard drivers were installed but the card was marked with a yellow exclamation mark afterwards in the device manager. A reinstall of the driver solved the problem.

Unfortunately I do not have any access to the system and I also don´t have any logs, nor do I have an NVIDIA card to test it with but I thought I´d let you know ...

Thanks !
Alex

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Hi....

Dunno if its too late to report a test, but I have tested the following machines/graphics adapters and they worked fine:

Dell Optiplex 745 with Radeon X1300/X1550 Series 256MB
Dell Optiplex GX620 with Radeon X600/X550 Series 256MB

HTH.

Chris.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Thank you both.  Feedback is a very important part of how we improve these driverpacks.

@midiboy.  If you do get access to that particular machine, can you retrieve the dpfinisher log and/or the HWIDs.
@cwbshaw.  That's great news.
Thank you both for testing.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

No problem.....

I forgot to mention one thing that seemed odd, but didn't affect the functioning of the machine or the drivers. I noticed that beside the clock on the taskbar there were 2 ATI logo icons.....they had different menus.....I have a small screen capture which I can post if you like. How do you add an image as an attachment to a post?

Anyway, not sure if any of this matters.

Chris.

cwbshaw wrote:

You can't.
You need to upload them to an external host (imageshack.us works very well for me!), then use IMG appear.

Anyway, are you sure you didn't also use an AddOn for, say, ATi Tray Tools?

A screenshot would indeed be nice to identify them.
Is one of them the old-style and the other the new logo?
(old one is T and I are "merged" and new one is sparated letters)

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Hi....

OK....here are the images:

http://img63.imageshack.us/my.php?image=taskbar1su8.jpg

http://img63.imageshack.us/my.php?image=taskbar2jc7.jpg

AFAIK I didn't opt to install any ATI Tray Tools or anything like that.

HTH.

Chris.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Not showing up for me.
With ImageShack, please make sure to post the "direct link" (it's the last one in the row of links presented) so that we can directly see the image here, no strange thumbnail or redirector.

ALWAYS use the direct link, no matter what (that's my personal rule, anyhow).

Anyway, with the BASE, you got to decide for either the CCC or the CP.
Check out the options, it's there wink

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

Hi....

Apologies....it took me a while to find the direct link....I had to go to classic view. Anyway, hopefully these will display:

http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/9295/taskbar1su8.jpg

http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/7389/taskbar2jc7.jpg

As regards the DPs_BASE options, I always use the CCC option.....here is how I make my image:

1. Copy unpatched XP CD to HD
2. Integrate SP2, RyanVM and a Codec pack using nLite
3. Add all driverpacks (including some 3rdparty) using DPs_BASE

....and thats it.

Anyway, hope you see the images above.

HTH.

Chris.

Can you check your %CDROM%\OEM\ folder for these files:
ATICCC.ins
ATICCP.ins

If both files are present, there's your problem.  Just delete the one you don't want (CCC vs CCP).

Apart from that, I don't know.  Can you try integrating with a fresh source?  Maybe there's an old setting from a previous integration that didn't get deleted.

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

The left symbol is the newer CCC, the right one is the oldish CP.
Apart from what Erik told you, I have no further clue myself.

Could it be you are using an older secondary ATi card in this system along with a newer (Radeon-line) one?
Maybe it's a deactivated on-board card (Rage XL for a chance)?

Something must be triggering the CP installation, and if you selected CCC in the base, that could only be a pre-Radeon card (which the CCC does not support)...

Re: Testers needed for new Graphics driverpacks

SUCCESS! big_smile

Card Tested:
nVidia 8800GTS 320Mb

Driverpacks:
DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_707test3.7z ---> 66.5 MB (69,758,567 bytes)
DP_Graphics_B_wnt5_x86-32_707test2.7z ---> 51.7 MB (54,302,776 bytes)
DP_Graphics_C_wnt5_x86-32_706.7z ---> 63.9 MB (67,091,875 bytes)

I also slipstreamed in the MassStorage pack too but that was the only additional driverpack.

I did see this pop up:

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/5537/rebootpopup1yb4.png

I cannot be 100% certain this pop-up was caused by the graphics drivers, but the installation of Windows
I used was very heavily stripped - I used this almost driver-less install on purpose just so the installation
of Windows really only had the 7z driverpacks. I can't be 100% though because it could have been my
sound card (onboard sound, native Windows drivers) although I have never had this popping up before
so I will assume it was the GeForce drivers causing the pop-up.

Other than the above pop-up, everything went flawlessly. I had the nVidia Control Panel there and the
nice NEW icon in the System Tray.

mr_smartepants I tested the updated pack and this also works,
same result as the last test, on nVidia 8800GTS.

Still got that pop-up though (asking for a reboot)

The machine itself has a Radeon X600/X550 256Mb card AND it has an onboard port at the back of the machine......but the oboard port is covered over so it can't be used and the BIOS Video settings are set to Auto. Could it be that the fact that the card is dual-head is the cause?

BTW.....this never happened until I tested the new Graphics driverpacks.

On a somewhat unrelated item, I noticed someone submitting a test report for a non-ATI card using the new Graphics driverpacks.....I had thought that you really only needed tests on ATI cards.....I do have other non-ATI cards I can test.....would it be helpful to submit reports on these?

HTH.

Chris.

Never was a problem in the past but then you said it just surfaced now.

We're glad about any hardware you can test the packs on!
In this case, ATi was specifically requested because there were some serious problems reported.

As for DriverPack Graphics A, the only other HW to test on would be nVidia.

You can, however, test all the other DriverPacks on your hardeware, too, if you don't mind!

And last but not least, if you are really interest in this, I'm sure there are still open potitions on the official Testers group wink
That way you will get access to ALL test versions, not just the few we publically posted.
Just drop Bâshrat the Sneaky a note and he'll get you in wink
