Erik, does the filtering function work for OS type and OS arch?

Yes!  yes it does.  Sorry I didn't report back sooner.

I suggest you fully read the unattended reference contained at msfn.org.

So who had the best April Fool's joke this year?
I used the classic "Who broke my monitor?!?" joke.

Let's hear from you.  What pranks did you pull on this very special day?

wink funny you should mention that.  You might want to keep an eye on the testing forum VERY soon... wink

shift-F10 works perfectly fine for me.  Any time after T-39 during setup gets the command prompt.

You can try it out if you want.  It's in 1004r1 in the testing forums.

CCC is very touchy about the .net installs.  I have a sony notebook with a x600 mobility chip and I get a 50% success rate on the CCC install without changing my source disc.
I don't use user_hidden's .net installer.  I can't remember why, but I think there was something to do with the firefox .net plugin.  I use yumeyao's .net installer because in my opinion it's better.

Try what OverFlow suggests, remove your .net addon and add our runtime Third Party DriverPack and see if that helps.

I'll put it in there.
I'm working on a 10.04 final.

...still waiting for confirmation and an official d/l link...

Well, I for one won't download from a site that I have to pay for or register to use.
Provide an alternate download location or link to the original files or they won't get added.
You requested them to be added, you do the legwork! big_smile

Have a nice day.

I'm very happy you solved your problem.
Thanks for the suggestion.  I do plan on updating our old tutorial soon and I'll likely incorporate your suggestions.

So my question is if I can get a quick fix to try out for Windows XP..

No.
The testing DriverPack MassStorage ONLY works with the testing version of DriverPacks BASE.  NOT with the release version (8.12.5) of DriverPacks BASE.
What version of DriverPacks BASE did you use? wink

Exactly as it should be.  That's how I receive mine.  The system-builder OEM disc is a single-use license.  The license can't be broadly deployed like the SLP-OEM license can.  Once used, the license is tied to the hardware and can't be transfered.  Those discs only come with WMP9/IE6 integrated.
If he got it from Fry's, then maybe it was in Fry's parking lot... wink

That's impossible!  MS doesn't distribute discs with those contents.  If Fry's is selling discs like that, then Fry's is breaking the rules too by redistributing modified discs.
If Fry's modified the contents, then legally Fry's must also support them, not MS.  That's how I interpret the System-builder OEM license.
Can you post a photo of the disc?  Is it hologramed?  I'd be VERY curious to see what they did to it.

Microsoft already did that.  It's called WGA. Windows Genuine Advantage.  And it's very good at determining if a running system is pirated or not.
It does nothing for source-validation though.
The OS detection routine in DriverPacks BASE is very thorough.  Although, I think it should set a flag in the log when it encounters an OS that doesn't have all it's ducks in a row.

DriverPacks BASE doesn't remove any components.  If you have a problem like that is is 99% caused by nlite.
You're on the right track though.  Start from the last source that worked OK with zero DriverPacks integrated.  Don't use DriverPacks BASE to remove/update DriverPacks.  Start from a clean source.
