So who had the best April Fool's joke this year?
I used the classic "Who broke my monitor?!?" joke.

My daughters fall for it every year! ![]()
Let's hear from you. What pranks did you pull on this very special day?

This reminds me of Sweden's best April fools joke in 1962 : http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/Hoax … _Color_TV/
My own favourite is similar to yours: I take a screenshot of my roommate/colleagues screen (using the printscreen key) and paste that screenshot into a new photoshop or windows paint document (using ctrl + V) then I draw lots of dirt on it (using the computer program not real dirt!) and set it as the screensaver. activate the screensaver and unpulg the mouse and it will look like its crashed!

We used to like this routine... screenshot a desktop and then set it as the desktop background. Then move all the desktop shortcuts to a temp folder, and move the taskbar to the top or right hand side then minimize it and turn on auto-hide. None of the "shortcuts" will work and neither will the "start button". especialy if the keyboard does not have a windows key or if it is disabled. This was always good for a laugh... the best part is even if they power it off and back on the problem persists
.
shell=progman.exe is also a nice gag ![]()

...and for the older "ball" mice, a piece of tape over the ball would keep the pointer frozen as well.

LOL a post-it would work for a optical unit ![]()

I once did a prank sorta like the broken monitor wallpaper...I took a screenshot of the desktop, then I saved it, then I set it as background and hid all the desktop icons (including recycle bin)
When somebody double clicked on what they thought was a icon on the desktop nothing would happen (because it was just a picture of the icon)

On the April Fool's front a friend of mine did something similar to the 'snapshot desktop, hide icons and taskbar' trick above to a colleague at his works. As an added twist he also created folders named 'P0rn' and 'Beastiality' on the desktop before he took the snapshot image.
Apparently it took his workmate/victim a VERY long time to work up the courage to contact IT Support... ![]()
