Excellent work!  Keep us posted.

The only difference between ich78id2.inf and ich78ide.inf (other than the extra space) is that ich78id2.inf is supposed to be for Windows 2000 and ich78ide.inf is for XP.
Unfortunately, there is no real difference in the content of either .inf.  They have some renamed headers, but the content is identical.
Removing the extra space would only break signing and force the system to use (rightly) the ich78ide.inf for XP.

The XP .inf does not follow M$ standard conventions for XP-specific entries (IE. .ntx86) and is poorly written.

Why was this in "news" anyway????

That should have installed from \d\g\i3 because it's covered by DriverPack Graphics B and has been for a LONG time.
It looks like your chipset drivers didn't install properly either.  Looks like something went wrong in your sysprep setup.

I've got some new graphics DriverPacks coming VERY soon.  As a sneak peek, I've moved the legacy 10.2 catalyst to DriverPack Graphics C along with its own CCC, consolidated the different ATICCP installers to one.
This setup has been working flawlessly on my (otherwise troublesome) sony vaio notebook.  I also tested this combo on a customer's notebook with Express 200M chipset and it also worked flawlessly.
This should solve this problem once and for all!
Now ALL the graphics DriverPacks are SMALLER!  A side benefit of the move.

I'll try to upload them all in a few days once I get them finished.

You DO have two sound cards.  One on the motherboard, one add-in:

That's a limitation with XP.  Most newer DVD drives will show up as something other.  The extra sound "card" may be from your modem.

Could you upload (or post) your DPsFnshr.log as well as the setupapi.log from the failed system?
That will get us started.

If you installed the Catalyst drivers directly from ATI and they did not work then there is very little we can do to make them work.
You should file a bug report directly with ATI/AMD.
I can only work with what ATI provides.  If that is not enough, then my hands are tied.

There is a problem between the Realtek (generic) and Via vinyl (specific) drivers.  But the only way to solve it is to edit the .inf which breaks signing and DISM won't integrate them anymore without the /forceunsigned switch.
There are no drivers for the 865G graphics chip for Win7. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ … p;lang=eng
You should not install Win7 on hardware that old. wink
