Let us know if you need anything...

DriverPacks BASE is a download from our main page... it is the main application that implements the DriverPacks for you wink
1) SAD = a DriverPacks BASE feature... http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2264

2) HWID HardWare IDentification - the Number a device reports to the OS so it can be matched to a driver - (it is what makes PnP work smile) There is a link to the HWIDs Tool in my signature below... try it wink

3) That is what I was looking for thank you!

4) Not exactly version numbers, but good enough for now wink...

" i do no know if i help you to understunde me...... "
Yes you did! Excellent second post sir! That cleared everything up for me...

" p.s sorry for my english.... a"
Most of our audience and half of our team do not speak english as their primary language... No Problem.
Just scribble your posts the best you are able.
We will ask you if we need to clear something up that was confusing to us smile.  No problem.

Have a great day!

@Helmi - Nice to see you Helmi!!!! Things quieting down for you since is it summer?

Agreed... Read the DriverPacks BASE tutorial (link in my signature). The tutorial is older but will cover everything you need to slipstream the drivers to your XP install. I recomend you use Method 2 (M2) with at least the ten main DriverPacks.

It is a rare occurance when a device is not paired with its' driver for any desktop model PC, from time to time we have reports of missing drivers for laptops. sometimes a modem (3rd party DriverPack for modems), more often it is the silly shortcut buttons or a webcam smile.

If you find hardware that is not installed use the tool in my signature to pull the HWIDs. find your driver install it and make sure it works. then report the HWIDs here with a link to where you got the tested known working driver... This is HOW we managed to get 99% of all drivers included... We add them when we discover somthing not covered. since we have been doing this for five years now our packs are quite complete smile.

Have a great day and let us know how your doing!

SamLab,

You are a Testing Machine!!! The excellent feedback from you "drives" us wink

I would use a combo of RIS and ghost multicast...
RogueSpears AutoImage adds DriverPacks to a RIS image...
WPI (Windows Post Installer) adds all applications.
the result of my unattended install is a "master"... therefore i could just ghost it to any similar machine smile
If nothing else it takes all the work out of updating or creating your SysPrep master smile

I dispise the mess left behind by syspreping. and it takes five times as long to maintain. and has a very high failure rate.

and unattended install will seldom if ever fail. It takes a few minutes longer... but every machine is a master. no hal issues no sid issues no issues period.

I Like the IDEA of sysprep... too bad it is such a big POS. If it worked and was maintainable (IE if it took less time to setup than to deploy the machines by hand wink) I would like it...

But i am here and willing to help all you crazy sysprepers if i can wink

help hints

Thanks for reminding us...

Nice to see you pop in sir!

Wow... you are a DriverPacks hero!

Wim is still in college and books and beer are not as cheap as they used to be... big_smile
I'm sure he will put it to good use!

I thank you on behalf of DriverPacks.net

I don't know if you are aware but Donors get testing team access...
Please find that a Team forum that was previously hidden from your view is now accessable!

did you integrate DriverPacks into the install or did you use SAD?

What is the HWID?

Which SP level is your 2K3? Is this an OEM disc or were any updates, service packs added or slipstreamed. ? HOW?

What version of the soundpacks did you use? BASE ver?

Please reference Read BEFORE you post in my signature...
It helps us to help you when we have better / more complete details...

Please attempt to fill in some of the missing pieces of the puzzle and we will see what we can do...

welcome to DriverPacks and we look forward to updating your name to inserviceyay...

Please post your HWIDs too so we can make sure it gets added correctly...

the reason teh machine would boot and then BSOD is because the PnP driver is failing

When you add a driver with nLite you must add both the TextMode and the PnP mode drivers... did you do this?

Did you try useing the F6 / floppy method?

is the blue screen the dreaded 7b?

PS please see Read BEFORE you post in my sig to help us to help you...
Missing: DriverPacks BASE ver, pack ver, DPs_BASE.log, HWIDs, [REQ] in title, ServicePack level and type (pro home MCE - OEM retail) of OS, etc...

I doubt that a win2k tool is aware of things like 64bit sections and vista sections ect...
Plus we can't adjust it if needed wink

Thanks for pointing it out to us... it is always nice to be aware of all available options!!!

The best way to test your image is always to have a control group (or a testing team smile).
Try a limited deployment to users who are likely to find and report issues and who will not be inconvenienced.
The more EyeBalls you put on it the more likely you will avoid having something slip through...

I also did not know there was a SP3 version... (But I am also a notorious SysPrep hater)

It is possable that a reboot is required?

it is possable that the sound cards installer may need to be run to bat cleanup in a sysprep w/ SAD image.
if that is the case we can use the finisher to make that happen.
(does the sound card have an installer and does it fix the issue if it is run?)

what are the HWIDs for the two misbehaving units.... do you know which driver they liked (folder D\S\...)?

Curious - which method did you settle on for mass storage support?

You're welcome!
Thank you for reporting your results!

Well you have posted three times and we still don't have your HWIDs... I assume that is somehow our fault?

You still have not even divulged which version of UBCD4win you were using - entirely my fault sorry...

you posted no questions regarding my tutorial nor my provided instructions... also obviously my fault sorry again.

If I beg an plead for you to stay and promise to pry every single detail out of you one by one by asking each question dozens of times....

Lets review from read before you post...

6. Tell us what you did - Could we try to reproduce your issue ourselves just based on your first post?

Well let's see
I don't know which version of UBCD4Win
I don't know which OS you used
I don't know which Service Pack of that OS you used
I don't know which Mass storasge controller is not found
I don't have the HWIDs of the device.

I can't even begin to duplicate your issue can I... Sorry, once again my fault,
No really!   I totaly forgot we are also the psychic-network.com! (you're a total clown dude)

I am so sorry you are leaving now...
Since I really needed someone to waste some more of my time...

Did you read "Read BEFORE you post"?
NO you did not, and even if you did you checked off ZERO of the items on the list...

Please read our posting guidlines again... http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3741

If you will expect us to take our personal time to support you, then we can likewise expect:
a) You will take a minute to include good details in your post.
b) You will have already read our documentation and tutorials.

If one of the team seems to have been short with you...
Perhaps you should make sure you have been respectful / appreciative.
We are working for free.

Think: "Could I reproduce my issue with just the info I have provided in my post and title?"
This does not need to be a wordy or involved task.   In Example (IE)

Title "[BUG] Finsher - Base 8.12.4 - Sound A 9.01 & Sound B 9.01"
I used RVM to add SP3 and updates to my XP, then nLite to automate it, I run DriverPacks BASE with all packs and mass textmode, then create ISO with nLite.
Sound drivers are installed but the Control panel is not.
The relevant part of the finisher log is included below.
the HWID for the sound card is PCI/VenxxxxSubxxxRev12

Code:
LOG here
If the answer to "Could I reproduce..." is 'yes',
and you have double checked "Read BEFORE you post" (AKA rule 0.)
Then you should be welcomed with open arms - and possibly breakfast.

Bye bye now... Unless you are going to get your act together
- and don't forget to engage your brain before posting. big_smile
Please note you were one post away from being banned anyway wink

Wim used to always include the latest versions...
DriverPacks was much smaller then (it grew into the ten current packs).

Since we include over 90% of all available drivers for windows there is the potential for many conflicts when using the full set and especially with 3rd party DriverPack too. Most drivers are not written very well, In fact it is the teams consensus that they are oblivious to how badly they actualy do write them. The point is you just can't drop a driver into the packs. There is an entire process involved, Dump the hwids from the packs and the old and new driver compare and eliminate duplicates, verify signing, release to testing team, likely fail several times and then Beta, RC, and Release. Since there are only a couple of people active on adding drivers there is a huge amount of work to do and only a few people to do it...

We like to stay current but that takes a back seat to  Stability...
This was a change the team made from Wim's original process.
We feel that Stable packs are referred to buggy ones that have all the latest drivers.
Just because a driver is new does not make it better... (Never use version 0.0 of anything wink)
It might be better but we don't know until it has been released and tested by a large audience.

We release our packs to the testing team as nightlies (alphas).
We have a few hundred testers with access to thousands of machines.
If a pack makes it a week on the testing team with no issues we consider it a Release Candidate (RC).
It often takes months to groom a nightly pack into a RC, once a pack achieves RC status it usually will be released within a week... We have a new set of graphics packs that are in RC status right now...  and a mass pack that looks good for RC status too... big_smile smile

There is much going on in the background (hidden forums) that is not visible to the public.
Like a bee hive, not much to see from the outside. wink

The short answer is being current takes a back seat to being stable. (No reported issues)

We primarily care that there are zero issues with our packs...
No BSODs, no crashes, no lost functionality, no lost performance, no bugs.

If all hardware is supported, and there are zero reported issues from our users.
Then we have done the best possible job, at least in the teams collective opinion.
8 million people download the DriverPacks a month (Assume multiple installs per download) and we have zero reported issues... How would you rate that on a 1- 10 scale wink

Often times people will ask we add a newer driver.
I often ask them why?
  They then seem perplexed...
So I then ask what issue they were having that the newer driver addresses?
Does it make your HDD faster? more reliable? What problem were you having with the old one?
They usually must meekly report they were having no issues at all. LOL
So I then press on What issue does the newer driver claim to correct?
  They usually have no clue...
So why waste our time asking if the only reason to add the driver is so it reports a higher version number???? PLEASE... You just want bragging rights lol... Just shoot yourself OK?
In all likelihood the newer driver is probably just going to introduce bugs into an otherwise rock solid solution...

If a driver address' a known issue or adds HWIDs then sure... It goes right to the top of the list of things to do.

See what happens when you 'wonder' around here wink

please review our posting guidelines... http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?pid=31245

"If you did not include your HWID's or DPs_BASE.log in your post
If you create a post that says "I am looking for a driver for"
(Especially if you have not used the DriverPacks at all.)

Then your welcome here may not be as warm and fuzzy as you might like.
The above mistakes are considered Noob like behaviors... "

Have you tried / used the driverpacks?... If not then why are you requesting support here?

Please read "Read BEFORE you post." in my signature below.
Failing to include any details listed in that post will likely result in this being the only response to your question.

Please read the rules / guidelines and the 'read before you post' and other stickied topics.

It does not help if I (we) do not have a link to the specific one that worked for him (Tested and known good) wink

Since this thread is 6 months old I don't expect to find out any time soon... tongue

please read the other recent posts in this forum wink (DriverPack MassStorage)
the link(s) you seek is(are) posted already both in other recent posts in this forum, and on our downloads page sad

perhaps replying to the thread you already started is more helpful to everyone? wink big_smile (please)
Perhaps you might even include your HWIDs so we could possably have enough info to actually help.

I see you still have not read "Read BEFORE you post"... sad

We need you to help us to help you, It is really up to you...

there are 56 previous versions of mass storage hmm
(do you want them all smile  -  HWIDs please...)
Please take a minute to view the downloads page...
http://driverpacks.net/driverpacks/wind … ss-storage
Asking for something that is already posted and readily available on the main site??? LOL
Please take a moment to look around for stuff before posting requests it saves you time, and us wink.

Stick to one thread per issue... otherwise i get confused... tongue (And we can't let that happen can we???)

please reply to your original thread and let us know your HWIDs and the result with the two (three?) packs you tried.
If you don't report (with details) then your issue will not be fixed in the next release either... (help us to help you... think long term - don't you want the next release of UBCD4Win to support your hardware?)

I have added your update to the "head" version it will be in the next version...

Plus users can download your ver directly from the bugtracker too big_smile

Welcome to DriverPacks MacNala,

Please see read before you post... in my signature below.
It helps newbies give us the details we need to help you. tongue

if you look at the Post just a few down from yours,
you will see an example of half-way decent details in a first post
and a possable solution in the second. wink
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=3799

copy the mass storage driver from my link to your Plugin\Driverpacks.net\Base\DriverPacks\ folder (with the existing mass pack in it already)

From PeBuilder select Plugins and then BASE hit the config button with BASE highlighted.
make sure the mass pack is the current ver and enabled.
LAN and WAN are optional,  and Graphics should not be enabled.

Tutorial for PE is in my signature or if you hit the help button when BASE is highlighted in PE builder plugins page.

let us know if you have questions

well they cut the RAM footprint in half and that was my big beef... all the Digital Media Rights BS they couldn't sell and some other fat has now been stripped out. saving us about 512meg of RAM they were not useing anyway...

Hopefully we will see more of this, even though RAM is a penny a pound these days no sense in just burning it for no reason - i still remember optimizing UMBs wink)

I see Win7 as the first viable release of NT6... the beta is over.

Tom's Hardware did a test with RAM recently and reports that even while gaming there is little benifit to having more than 3 gig of RAM. I am sure I can think of some exceptions (autocad) but the test was still valid for most all users wink

cdob wrote:

Do we have permission to include SaveHWIDs.cmd to PE systems, like UBCD4Win?

I don't think you want to put a devcon wrapper on your UBCD4WIn disk... do you?
They have never hassled us though... but still...

if you dont mind putting savehwids on the disk thin i don't mind putting it in the bin folder and adding it if any BASE plugin is enabled wink... big_smile

I wonder if the finisher will dump the hwids to the loge even if no packs were available ? ? ?

you can look at the other language submissions as a guide / reference / outline wink
NBD if you err on the report selections. We can edit it / them later if absolutely necessary wink
the important part is the attachement lol...

Thanks again,
it is greatly appreciated when we recieve a little help!

Agreed... Win7 is the future

Let's concentrate on that! just signed up over at future.signet - Let's get this ball rolling!

the bugtracker is where we submit language updates... Please do

And thank you for contributing! That's awesome!

hmmm
If it took three hours you chose M1 not M2... if QSC was on then it will not take but a few minutes to do a second time wink   Cabbing the drivers was helpful when HDDs were smaller and DVDs were expensive.
Not a huge pick up these days... I would have chosen M2. But M2 does not offer the KTD functionality like M1 does.

However you could simply extract them rather than cabbing them.
IE choose only CPU Pack for the SAD M1 from DriverPacks BASE. Then simply extract all the remaining driver packs to the driverpacks.net folder (along with the CPU pack in the D\ folder) it burns more space but does not require you to wait for cabbing wink.

i told you how to run the dpinst tool when you dump the image - Use a runonceex reg entry, add it right before the final shut down. the folders and files will be deleted by the finisher, sometimes files are locked or are in use (the finisher itself for example)... if this happens they will be deleted after you reboot.. smile
