i have to dis-agrea here though,  there are so many better ways.. 1 for instance is a compiled ' Visual basic '  program,  i would recommend an early version like VB5 though, im not sure what versions will run this early, and in windows 2000, as it MAY lack vb-runtime files.

I've tested an compiled AutoIT script, and it works. No other files are needed other than the program itself.

- but i wonder if its worth this much trouble....

Add 3rd party DriverPacks ... and you could wait more than 5 minutes during this blue screen asking yourself "WTF is going on....".
So ... yes ... knowing what is going on is better ...

Then I'm very interested...

I've actually written a new presetup in AutoIt, but couldn't get it to work (with fancy progress info and the functionality to add custom commands). I managed to retrieve the exact error by executing the file manually from a cmd.exe instance, called by the currently used presetup. I can look it up if anyone'd like to know.

If I start it just one minute after GUI setup has started, then it works. If I start it earlier, I get an error. It's obvious that the AutoIt compiler/runtime/whatever the correct name is, relies on certain Windows API calls that aren't available yet at the presetup stage.

So please, share the knowledge.

P.S.: I AM aware of the fact that AutoIt 2.x executables do work at the presetup stage, but that syntax is completely different AND the options/AutoIt functions are much much much more limited.

No. You tried to download using the same computer as with which you've made this post? In that case your IP is logged and I can add it to the whitelist (IF it's in the blacklist). Perhaps you're using a proxy?

No, I was actually about to test that very CATALYST 6.11 (hence I was so glad muiz managed to include it that fast!).
However, if required, I can also install in on my test system (which currently lacks a HDD as I am testing Vista on that one in my main righ...), which features an nVidia card.
It's only a GF2MX, but it always got the latest drivers and CP installed despite not being officially supported.
Since 3DMark 2001 ran flawlessly, I think I can conclude it is a falid testing environment even for the latest FW drivers. wink

That's not necessary, I can verify the driver by just going through the .inf files.

Are you using a download manager? All download managers are blocked.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I will be reinstalling my main system (NOT testing rig!, hence more modern HW) tomorrow with all the new nightly packs (the new G pack arrived just in time I might say wink).

So, stay tuned!

muiz already tested it and at least the ATI 6.11 driver and the ATI CCC are working perfectly. Do you have an nVidia GPU in your system? That'd be great.

Errr... jtdoom, what's the point of posting that? Are you trying to fill my database as fast as you can or something? tongue

Yes indeed smile Just a bit patience wink Once it's on track, it should be MUCH faster when it comes to updates.

A sad day up to a point. I thought you would drop the project as school is more important as is your private life.
I never could figure out how you could balance the two.

I think I can speak for the majority of the people on this forum, we appreciate all your hard work and the work of the members behind the scenes.

The "open source" thing will hopefully work and things will progress.

Good luck and good fortune to you, time to enjoy life.

BigBrit

Thanks for the kind words smile

Considering the amount of time I've put in this project, I'm quite amazed myself how I kept the balance...

I sure hope going open source will thrive this project and keep it healthy. As I said, I will still be working on this myself, but more on the "big things" than on the DriverPacks themselves.

Please post your DPsFnshr.log.

Why do you want them?

DP_Sound_A_wnt5_x86-32_6081.7z
All files are up2date.

I'm trying to integrate the MassStorage drivers into my windows 2000 cd (haven't bothered with windows xp yet) so I can install windows on machines with SCSI or SATA drives fully unattended from a network share. But i'm facing some problems here.

1. When I only slipstream the MassStorage drivers (without the "DriverPack MassStorage text mode) the file ql2100.sys gets deleted and cannot be found during setup with requires me to skip the file during setup manually twice. This is already fucks up my unattended setup. hmm
But it gets worse at a later point when setup tells me that ql2100.sys cannot be found and asks me to press "any key" and then ends the setup process leaving me with an unfinished installation. Not good.
The same problem was described in http://bugtracker.driverpacks.net/view.php?id=0000068 and marked as fixed and resolved. Though this does not really seem to be the case.

I don't know what I missed there, but it seems I definitely missed something. Can you tell me if the ql2100.sys driver is included by default? Since I think that is not the case and then the file could not be deleted.

2. When I slipstream the MassStorage drivers with text mode activated the dosnet.inf file somehow gets f***ed up and setup tells me that the section [Files] is either missing or not useable. hmm Which also means that I cant install Windows.
The same problem was described in 0000240 and the solutions seems to be to add "d1," in front of the three files adpu160m.sys, dac960nt.sys and ipsraidn.sys
Maybe this could be automated in the next release since editing files manually is not only a pain but also cannot always be done by "normal" people.

I have overlooked that part of the bugreport, sorry. It seems it only happens to drivers that are replaced by newer ones by the DriverPacks BASE. I've looked at the code and the same code is used for the drivers that are replaced as any other driver, so if the "d1," leading part is missing, it should be missing for ALL files. I will try to reproduce this issue, but please submit this to the bugtracker.

3. Slipstreaming the Sound_A 6.0.81 DriverPack leads to the same error as described in 0000080 and 0000118. portcls.sys cannot be found and ruins my unattended installation. hmm

That's not a BUG, that's due to crappy drivers. Probably it's a SoundMAX or Sigmatel driver. Just post a sound driver request in the DriverPack Sound forum, and don't forget to mention your desktop/laptop model, so we can find the driver.

4. I tried installing windows in a vmware with emulated scsi hdd and LSI controller, so i removed the ; from the vmscsi.sys lines in txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf. "MsDosInitiated" is set no "0" in unattended.txt. But after successfully copying the cd onto the computer and restarting the machine i get a bluescreen telling me that the bootdevice couldnt be accessed. hmm Am I missing something?

It might be good to recomment another driver instead then. One with a filesize that's equal or larger than the size of vmscsi.sys.

Update!

I found a house and I am going through the final stages of closing on it (should be next week).
I'm very excited! It needs a little fixing up here and there, but overall in good condition.
It is just under 1400sq/f with 4 bedrooms and a full basement! This is my first house purchase, and I can't wait to get out of this glorified box that I'm renting now (only ~580sq/f house). I got it for a steal... only $43,500 (was a foreclosure)! I had it appraised, and after it is fixed it should be worth ~$146,000!!!!!! WOW!

So, I just wanted to share the excitement.
Hopefully I will be able to fix the house up and get back to my normal routine shortly.

Later Guys,
~Dave

That's just grrrrrrrrrreat news smile Congratulations!

Some of you thought this project was dead due to inactivity in the last weeks. Well, now you know this isn't true.

I've been making the preparations to make this project open source. There are various reasons for me for doing this:
-lack of time (blame university)
-it does not have an end, due to the nature of this project, there would never be a point in time where this project would have virtually nothing to add or update
-providing support: apart from all the above, I still have to provide support too!
-the pressure: so you can see now that this project took a lot of time, but apart from that there's the constant need to provide updates, and although people did notify me of new drivers, it's still me who has to make sure nothing breaks, plus there's the constant struggle against time
-I'm not a hypocrite: lack of financial appreciation, some (see below) have been very generous, while the majority    did not give anything in return. Whatever you may think, some financial revenue is very welcome to every donationware developer! One might say that we donationware blindly trust that our users that they will support us financially if we have a product that works as expected. (Before criticizing this, I can tell you that approximately 95% of all installations are flawless, the failed 5% is mostly exotic hardware or bad drivers.) So please support not only this project, but also AutoImage and RVM Integrator/Windows XP PowerPacker!

All of this is enough to make the decision final. I was first planning to only open source the Finisher initially, but I've decided to open up everything at once.

Everything is open source, but not in the litteral meaning of the word. It's open source, but invite-only. I chose to do it this way to maintain a defined quality level. If you want to joing either of the teams (the Main Team, Code Team, DriverPacks Team, Testing Team or Translations Team), just contact any one of the Main Team in the forum and we'll see if you qualify. Basically every body qualifies who knows what he's doing. No übertalents or huge sacrifices are asked, you contribute when you want to.

UPDATE: I forgot to reference the license! You can view it here!

I'll still be very active to get things running on their own. Any one on any of the teams will be able to contact me to know how things should be done, or how they could change it.

Donations will initially still be going to me (not that there are many...), and once most things are done by others, they will be the ones that decide what will be done with the money. Either it'll be distributed amongst the contributors, or it will be used to pay for whatever is considered necessary: virtual private server, (web) software, etc.

So far the announcement. But I'd like to use this event as an opportunity to thank those who have been very supportive, either financially, by their knowledge or by their encouragements, or any combination of those. In order of appearance (well... as I could remember it):

-prathapml: he has helped me alot in the first days of this project, and has helped me a lot with my initial ideas.
-RyanVM: when he lost motivation for his original "Storage Pack", I continued where he stopped and that's now DriverPack MassStorage. His UpdatePacks project is an established value in the wonderful (?) world of Windows deployment and a true time saver.
-muiz: he was so kind to send me a CPU and RAM for a local server, on which I'm hosting the Subversion server used for the source code. Additionally, he sent me a financial donation as well! He might be messing around sometimes, but he means it well. He's a member of the DriverPacks Team.
-djbe: I met him at the MSFN.org forums and after some chatting it appeared that he lived very close to where I live...! He has written Fedit.exe and uni2ansi.exe, two tools the DriverPacks BASE could not live without. Bigger plans by the two of us were planned, but due to time restrictions they were not conceived...
-Siginet: he runs a pc shop, develops several programs most of which you probably know (RVM Integrator and Windows XP PowerPacker). The DriverPacks BASE is also already using his code for OS detection (it's quite complex and by far superior to my original code). He's a member of the Main Team.
-gilesw: somebody who has not been very active in the past months, but before that he was THE 3rd party DriverPacks man. I think he had/has a job comparable to twig123's. He also sent me a kind donation.
-RogueSpear: he's a Windows deployment consultant and has been using the DriverPacks for quite some time now. He has not only donated generously, but has also helped me very much the past months in too many things to name. He's a member of the Main team.
-twig123: One of the most generous donators ever! But he does have a reason for it: he has installed several hundreds of computers using the DriverPacks for his job as a computer repair technician. Aside from that, he's been maintaining and restructuring several 3rd party DriverPacks. It won't amaze you that he's also a member of the DriverPacks team then!
-and many others... sorry if you have been very active 'in the scene' and you were not mentioned here! My memory tends to forget some things that should not be forgotten...

So as most of you can see: those who contributed most already, were also the most generous people. One might expect it to be the other way around. But fear not, you can still make that up!

If you either work for a company or have your own, and you have used the DriverPacks in professional environments, then please contact me if I may add you as a reference to my resume! This would be very very very very much appreciated!

No, I'm not hurt, I'm not dead, I've not abandoned this project and this project is not dead. School is simply so demanding that I don't have the energy to do a lot of work on this project too. BUT:

A ... very interesting announcement will be sent out to every member of this board later this week, as well as an announcement on the improved front page.

No crossposting please! I've deleted the identical topic.

You must indeed use the DriverPacks BASE to slipstream DriverPack MassStorage wink

And thanks for the compliment smile

Someone is putting a massive load on the download server. I'm currently in touch with DreamHost to solve the problem. The Apache server crashed repeatedly under the load, DreamHost reported to me.

That's the policy indeed.

Here's the download link: DP_Chipset_wnt5_x86-32_605.7z.

You must use the Intel Chipset driver from DriverPack Chipset 6.05, I'm afraid. I will upload the file to the server again and provide you with a permanent download link here, since it's been asked several times now.

Which exact Mobility GPU is it (9200/9600/...)? It's possible that your card isn't natively supported by the driver under Windows 2000. Is it possible that your laptop had XP preinstalled?
