try running roe from c:\

well it will normally be run from c:\

Is that where it is run from?

I did not write it and don't have the source... i ASSUME it pulls %systemdrive%.
However it may simply return the current drive letter. Are you running it from the X: drive?
Again I don't have the source and did not write it.

We have been using it for almost ten years and millions and millions of installs with zero reported errors.

the problem must be related to your usage of it ... I can only guess ... and i can't even do that because you have not told us what you are doing. At this point only you know that.

From rule #0 (Read BEFORE you post) Item #6
"6. Tell us what you did - Could we try to reproduce your issue ourselves just based on your first post?"

Um NO. I cannot at this point sit down at my machine and reproduce this issue.

At this point your guess is BETTER than mine.

All I am left with is you are doing something that millions of users before you have not.

GIGO

ROE is designed / written for a single purpose... it is not meant to be used as a stand alone tool. It does what it is meant to do and that is it.

If you are able to use / adapt it for for some other purpose it would just be dumb luck.

Sorry.

A very good question sir!

Welcome to DriverPacks.net

IDK if it will help Erik but i have this device on my gigabyte GA8PENXP MB (my workhorse) the HWIDs in RAID mode with XP loaded are

I have been here for many years and have never had occasion to need to automate uninstalling a driver.

Even if i were given a valid reason to do this, i would not ever consider doing so. If you absolutely have to uninstall a driver (say the drivers files were infected by a virus). then do so manually.

As a normal course of installing and updating drivers removing existing drivers is not necessary.

The answer to your question is "DEVCON", however i strongly recommend you do not automate driver removal.

And no if you create another post about this it will be deleted...
This is the DriverPacks support forum. We support the DriverPacks. that question is not DriverPacks related and therefore off topic.

General PC questions are best researched  (always use search first) at MSFN.org. If, and only if, you are unable to find the answer there then post your question.  There is a 99.999% chance your question has already been asked and answered a million times over there. (this project got started as one small topic over there about 9 years ago)

Perhaps what you intend or think you need to do is to remove the native driver from your windows 7 source? Again I don't recommend you remove it per say. What we would recommend you do is something that we do very often, that is to REPLACE (update) the native driver in your source with a newer (better) version. that is a reasonable thing to want to do big_smile. This WOULD be a valid topic of conversation here big_smile. The tool to do that is DISM

EDIT : I'm still looking for an automated way to uninstall specific drivers.

But I found out SAD2 installed the realtek driver WITH the hdaudio driver win7 installed so all is well for that part of my request. smile

That makes little sense, Your problem is not really a problem at all... but you still want to know how to fix it?

If a driver contained in the packs is better than the existing driver then it will be replaced. That is how it works and that is how it should work.

Hint - If it ain't broke... Don't fix it.

Hello DriverPacks.net users!

Hello, and welcome to the forum!

volt26 wrote:

I'm using SAD2 at work to automatically install drivers on new windows 7 computers. It works pretty well so far but there is a problem.
`
Windows 7 automatically install its own audio drivers for a specific computer model (HP dc7700) and this driver throw out sound only if something is plugged in the audio connector (green hole).

Don't all computers work this way? They only make sound if you plug in speakers? (other than the on board speaker used "Beep" for POST and the Keyboard "bell".)

volt26 wrote:

I want SAD2 to install the correct driver but it doesn't do so (probably because win7 already installed an audio driver. Do you know of a way to fix this issue?

Your edit above suggests that it does install the "updated" driver. (they are both correct or win7 would not allow them to install.)

volt26 wrote:

Either :
1) prevent win7 from installing the wrong driver
2) uninstall said driver automatically in a script
3) any other ideas?

thank you very much!

Have a great day!

wow and only 42 usd right now... too bad HDD's are like gold right now.

the answer is that certain drivers do not directly support Text Mode, AKA the "F6" drivers, AKA DOS. Of the thousands of mass storage drivers we include only a hand full have this issue.

the command PnP, 5 forces text mode to use the PnP driver in text mode.
this is just lazyness on the part of the suppliers of the driver, that is to say they distribute an incomplete driver, one that lacks text mode support.

To find more info search the forum for related terms like "setupreg.hiv" "PnpInterface"

To put it simply... Erik says,  "Nvidia drivers suck!"

I stickied the post in the trash forum (funny eh).

Wim is aware of the issue now and is working on a solution. the temporary solution is to not allow new users. People will have to contact us to get an account. Sad we have to take such a drastic measure.

Thanks again Helmi, Always a real pleasure to see you here!

Thanks, guys. I wanted to follow up and let you guys know that I got it worked out. It turned out to be just a matter of putting dpinst.exe and a dpinst.xml into the folder with the driver files and running it to preinstall the drivers. Yay for easy! big_smile Anyways, thanks again for the help. Your suggestions got me steered into the right direction to figure it out.

SAD is DPINST and the xml ... Plus the DriverPacks Finisher

yeah man i think Wim needs to update our Captcha plugin.... I just deleted another account with 30 or so posts.

um this is the DriverPacks support forum... We support the Driverpacks.

From  your post it would seem you are not using the DriverPacks or DriverPacks BASE.

Therefore your issue is not supported (at least not by us).

Since you have an HP laptop, you should seek help from HP. (Just a thought)

And that is what i have been saying for years. if even one in ten of the people who download the DriverPacks sent a dollar we could go back to a CDN (content delivery network), like one of the CDN providers who we have had donate to us in the past, and put torrents on the back burner. The reality of it is one person in a hundred thousand sends us $20.

Thanks for being one in a million Lad!

As admins Erik and I can delete users... along with all their posts. So you can leave those to us tongue.  Thanks for everything you do Helmi! you rock.

I replied to a post in the trash folder the other day. it was for a forum BOT you should read it it was boasting about 15k Captcha type recognition and 10k blog and forum types it was "compatible with". Ironic they spammed us with a link to the software that is being used to spam us...

More than likely... BUT

Hope you feel better soon buddie!

if you post your BASE log then you will have all the packs listed... the
'DPs_BASE.log" will (normally) be in the DriverPacks BASE folder and on the root of your install disc OR in the root of your source folder used to slipstream the packs. Additionally DriverPacks BASE will archive your logs in a subfolder of DriverPacks BASE with time and date stamps. It would be quite difficult to lose them all.

woo hoo!\

you might have hit the path limit bug... does it still do it if you kill one of the third party DriverPacks?

We do have a 3rd party DriverPack section here at DriverPacks...

Feel free to make one and post it...
We will be glad to support you in this task in any way we can.

this should be fairly easy since you simply need to trim the existing pack... Adding drivers is MUCH more dificult than trimming out unneeded ones big_smile

http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2461

that link is the outline of "how to" from our FAQ section.
The second post details removing drivers from the pack... not to tough to do.

PS please note that the mass storage pack is NOT for XP only, it is for all NT5 platforms. (2K, XP and 2K3)

Alrighty then...
I suppose we need to know what version first...
If it is one of the non warez versions, then it WOULD be eligible for discussion / support

and although he did use search... (wow smile) and give a good description of the issue, and how to reproduce it, and what DriverPacks pack, and it's version... he did not tell us what version of Hirens...

source location="%systemdrive%\Packages\HotFix\

it will run faster if you copy the archives then use them off the HDD.
Optical Disks are SLOW

Hey, we got there! That is all that matters smile

Now for the fix big_smile
