forart.it - now you have presented an option that is viable to our forum.
In the past you have asked us to take this on -
now you have provided a resource we can refer people to.
This is the good solution for all....

WS i did not ask Wim if this was acceptable, but he will normaly let me do as i see fit.
the third party FTP site is an option for you...
I consider you part of the team and i value your work and complimentary contributions to our project.
Please avail yourself of our resources. I don't think, given the small size of your app, that it will present a problem short or long term.
Jeff

It is you who deserves the props.
You approached us (off topic) with a good attitude and the willingness to put in the effort and to do research yourself.
You did this not us. We didnt even have to hold your hand. We just gave you a few good hints.
I am proud of you! as you should be proud of yourself.
I agree with jaak you could become a contributer here and give back to the community.
You don't have to be a genius or have decades of experience -
just a good atttude. (makes me wonder how i got here )
Congrats you da man!

IDK why it happend either - not for sure... But lets assume that haveing every driver known to windows available to setup will be teh answer. nothing ventured nothing gained...

Re: Downgrading to xp from vista (47 replies, posted in Hardware)
By george i think you have got it.
PS you will know right away if it is going to play -
as soon as you get to thescreen where it asks you which partition to load it on.
If it does not say "No Drives Found" you are good to go...
Then you can use XP to repair your vista boot loader - you found the details for that yourself (well done)
Jeff
PS there is always a risk... I blow myself up frequently and i have been doing this sh*t forever. It happens.
(although i do have an external drive and i ALWAYS make a bakcup image of my drive. and if it is valuable to me i make two backups on different media IE HDD and DVD)

Re: certain firewall options which may be blocking referrers (6 replies, posted in Feedback and Support - DriverPacks Base)
even the cheapest firewall will provide NAT that is a good start. I frequently put a simple NAT in front of an ISA server. this creates a double NAT - double NAT is a brutal thing for a nasty to get past. (you could put two cheap routers back to back).
Linksys is now owned by a company you may have heard of... Cisco.
i have had good luck with the model rv042 but it is not cheap. most of the linksys stuff is not bad.
Netgear routers suck out loud (although their switches are pretty good). i had one in downtown Cincy and the trees in Kentuky started leaning towards the river.

Re: Downgrading to xp from vista (47 replies, posted in Hardware)
there are some good tools to do what you need... I like partition magic. but it is not free...
with that you could split your vista partition and keep your restore partition too. so you would have three partitions.

Re: Dell D630 Laptop & USB 500Gb HDD Reatogo (9 replies, posted in BartPE - UBCD4Win - WinPE)
USB is always an issue because its bus gets reset as windows loads this is why it is tough to load PE on a usb drive.
the drive is suddenly unavailable during the boot. it hiccups.
External USB can be loaded but it often needs to be force installed. as you already tried...
It sounds like the USB drive stomped on one of your existing drive letters when you punched it's button.
my imediate reaction is to point you at my favorite PE builder UBCD4Win... and see if it has the same issue.
as to when the rest of the pack will be supported... SOON i wanted to make sure the chages i made for XP SP3 and DPINST were solid. To Let the dust settle if you will. Since SP3 was supposed to be out today and i have only had one post for an issue. I wil release that and begin the next projects which are VISTA and Finishing BartPE. since i already have released one or two copies of full support versions of base to the development team at UBCD4win last year and got excelent reports back. So i am quite close to a beta for bartpe + all packs but i will likely only publish support for chipset and graphics first - since Nvidia will likely be a real nasty and is tied to both. once i am happy with that i will just turn the rest on (the code is already in base its just disabled) there are just a few bad bananas that are spoiling the bunch.
Jeff doesn't publish junk...

we could process ini for 3rd party DriverPack that would not be a terible thing to code... a day or two if i had time.
i think the mod should close the topic out when finalizing - this would force new posts for requests...

Re: Downgrading to xp from vista (47 replies, posted in Hardware)
this will not be easy in your case... the multi-boot for vista is tougher to deal with.
I would install xp then vista but you will not be able to do this easily. you have a vista restore disk not an install disk. (I assume)
so you will have to start with your vista restore image then install XP to a second partition - then repair your VIsta bootloader, which will get confused by the XP install...
you can search for step by step instructions for that. I have not spotted a good one yet nor a good tool to do it for you...
I am sure ssomebody here will point you in the right direction. We have a lot of very good Techs who hang out here. Most of our audience and members are IT professionals with years of experience (and can get set in thier ways). Often I am hard on them if you read my posts, but I have been around / into computers since the 60's and have to work sometimes to make them "think outside the box".
If people are respectful and polite as you have been then patients follows, even if it is not technicaly within the scope of our forum.
Sometimes it is even easier to teach someone who has no preconcieved notions.
I expect Muiz or one of our other hard core Vista users will toss you a bone here.
In the time being a google search for dual boot xp vista will yeild some good help.
you have worked hard to get here and I am convinced that with your tenacity that you can do this.
