well... sadly, not always do our ideas work wink that is why we test them before we release them.

So we don't want the files available to just anyone. It would create more problems than it solved.

We don't get many reports of issues because we do our testing in a somewhat controlled environment.

We don't control access to the test files because we do want them tested but we don't want people to use them for purposes other than test installs. if someone does use a test pack on a production machine they can't in good conscience blame us for any issues.

anyone who access's and uses them should be aware they are for testing only and may cause problems.
They might work too and if they do work we will release them. The best thing for most people is to stick to the officialy released packs.

but... we always are looking for people to test and don't wish to stop them, as long as they are willing to accept that they may not always work.

Thanks SamLab - I hope i understood your post correctly

have you tried more than one cd/dvd and more than one type / brand of disk?

well we just moved our files from dreamhost (one of the largest in the world) because they were having too many issues. (they actually suggested we upgrade our current plan as a solution. which seems crazy if you think about it why would we want to pay more, when we are not getting what we are paying for now)

the new file host has 10 gigabit cross-connects, clustered storage servers, and multi-core transaction processing servers. I really don't think bandwidth or load are an issue.

We tried a mirror but the guy who donated the space was not timely with updating files.

We are concerned about this and have been working hard to resolve it.
Unfortunately we are a free project and as such must work within our budget (which is $0.00)
everybody wants to criticise (which is free) but almost nobody donates.
Credit has nothing to do with it. Think about it, how much have you donated?
Mirrors are not a better solution because we have to depend on them to update
that prevents our ability to release when we want and to make sure the same files are available on all mirrors.
And we would still have reports of corrupt file downloads from one or more mirrors.

every time someone has reported an issue i have been able to download successfully.
sometimes a file doesn't download correctly that does not mean the file on the server is bad.
please retry before assuming so. (you know what happens when you AssUMe)

the existing solution should be flawless and there is no reason for it not to be.
they have multiple geographically dispersed servers and ten gig of bandwidth.

His log indicates the c: drive - good thinking though...

Since software is not the issue and corrupt files are not the issue then hardware must be the issue.
This is reinforced by the fact that you needed to reload your machine in the first place

I suggest that you find a memory testing program such as http://www.memtest.org/

and check your CPU fan and heat-sink for good airflow and proper seating.
Check your power supply fan and if possible the voltages or use an alternate.

see the news page art we may have a solution for you now...

I am going to move this thread to the appropriate place (Universal Imaging)

I don't like sysprep personaly. I have always found better solutions for my needs.
Although i do recognize there are a few instances where it can be quite useful (a new MB)

So you will need to rely on our other users for specific solutions.
You are in luck though, we have Quite a following of SysPrep Gurus with many years of experience each.
I am sure you are not in a situation that is unique and therefore you will probably be given several solutions.

Personaly I would make a UWXPCD and load the machines clean,
especialy if you are not already familiar with sysprep, since it is not a very friendly animal.

Whatever you decide we will offer any help we can.

i love gigabyte mb's they rock... waiting on the test to see if we can help

we had two QUAD posts the other day LOL...

I am not a big fan of mysql to begin with and this host uses a version with a known bug... sad

i blame them !

something is blocking write access to your source - specificaly 7zip in this case.

"Could not extract files necessary for method 2."

what other programs are running on your box.

we have thousands of users yet you are the ONLY one with this problem.

We are so glad to have helped you.
your appreciation is what "drives" us. wink thank you!

Welcome to DriverPacks. We are so glad to have been of service to you. Thanks for the warm intro.

In a drivers simplest form only the the INF is required. (many chipset drivers consist only of an INF)
Many others only require an inf and a single SYS file. (like quite a few mass storage drivers)

There are no absolutes. I wish there were because that would make our life easy.

Each driver is unique and it's minimum requirements also. There is no simple answer to your simple question.

I wll offer some tips instead of an answer.

if you choose custom for the finisher and then do not call it many of the control panels and other things will not be installed, however you will need to delete the packs manually.

Some drivers use the inf to install these things and if so removeing them is problematic. Most of the time editing the INF will break driversigning and may prevent the driver from installing at all. Other times the driver will install but not work. It is best in these cases to allow them to install then remove them bythe means provided by the drivers provider.

I hope that helps and I hope we see you here often!

Yes... that is the answer! you figured it out on your own - very smart!

OK.. the additional info helps me to help you (i quote Jaak)

select any valid source.

select m1 and all packs except textmode.

hit slipstream.

then use the contents of $OEM$\$1 to burn to your disk.

the rest of the above referenced post should be clear enough to get you there. If not jsut ask...

Welcome to DriverPacks we're glad your here!

I am sorry IDK... RogueSpear is the master of that realm... have you cross posted there?

If i have changed something to interfere with AutoImage then i will certainly address it Immediately.

I Just need him to tell me what the issue is.
Or perhaps the problem lies with AutoImage and he will adress it from there.

Thanks for reporting this issue. Your feedback makes DriverPacks better for everyone!

Welcome to the forum and for being the most valued member of DriverPacks team; the user who gives feedback.

Jeff

this happens when you select a source folder that is not a valid location.
Selecting a valid location is a prerequisite to displaying the correct options screens that follow.

IE you must select a folder that contains a valid I386 subfolder.

That is what currently happens.

Someone reports an issue a test pack is made available to address that issue. hopefully they test and report back.

Sometimes we just update a driver when a newer version is released. when this happens it is posted in the testing team forum. (the public doesn't have access to that forum)...

So since the test packs are not meant to be available to the public, the posts related to them are not available either. Unless we need a specific user to test with it. That is to say we dont release them publicly so the related posts are not released publicly either.

When they are released then the changelog details the changes

I will keep an eye on it - it is working for me now...

well that is a MUCH cleaner log (and it is all there)... hmmm

can you open the mass storage pack manualy (verify it is not corrupted)

thanks for all the dedicated testing ophielx !

We always should be useing the default names mad

topic moved from feature requests since this is not a request for a new application feature of DPs_Base.exe

Although i am not going to put it in mass storage either wink

It would be great if new users used the search feature too... don't ya think? wink

you say you just reloaded this machine... where did you get your installation disk?

I think jaak already told you that using your desktop as a location for this was not a good idea...

I must agree - although there is no reason that it shouldn't work...

when i do this it works fine... (but it is really strange thing to do)

Here are the things that raise an eyebrow for me...
I suggested a clean source so you should have seen this in your log...

<PREP> No previous DriverPacks installation found, Prep stage will be skipped

your log says...
2008-05-08 16:57:59 : <PREP> Cleaned up \$OEM$\cmdlines.txt.

\$OEM$\cmdlines.txt would not exist in a clean source.

your log says...
Failed to CAB compress C:\Documents and Settings\e\Desktop\drivers\tmp\DPMtmp\D\M\AM\amdbusdr.sys to C:\Documents and Settings\e\Desktop\drivers\QSC\wnt5_x86-32_uni_DP_MassStorage_804_textmode\AMDBUSDR.SY_.

that is quite strange...

This smells like a bad HDD (or a full one)
and you are doing other things to your source that you have failed to mention.
and / or you are running some program that is interfering with the base (virus scanner or...)

I cant get past the fact that the first half of your log is missing...

something is terribly wrong

ps the permissions issue only occurs with vista...
