Has anyone played with this?  Does it work?
I just downloaded it but I don't have a system with any unidentified items to try and 'identify'. smile
Seems interesting.

Unknown Device Identifier enables you to identify the yellow question mark labeled Unknown Devices in Device Manager. And reports you a detailed summary for the manufacturer name, OEM name, device type, device model and even the exact name of the unknown devices. With the collected information, you might contact your hardware manufacturer for support or search the Internet for the corresponding driver with a simple click. With this utility, you might immediately convert your unidentified unknown devices into identified known devices and find proper driver on the Internet and contact the hardware device manufacturer or vender. Known devices recognized by Microsoft Windows will also be analyzed independent of the operating system.

First post updated.
New 8.01 DriverPacks for all!
Let the testing begin!

How can leaked drivers be official? Months ahead of time...
hmm

hi guys and gurls and mr_smartepants smile
happy new year to everyone!
any news on the new G_B pack with non-adulterated Intel drivers? I am happy to rebuild Intel section if people are short of time?
cheers

Yup, the G_B 801 DP is up in the nightlies section.
Thread: http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2271
Download: http://dev.driverpacks.thesneaky.com/dr … -32_801.7z

The caveat is that these 'unadulterated' drivers contain MANY duplicated HWIDs and Windows may choke on the redundancies.

Let us know if this works for ya!

AMEN Brother!

Oh, and I can't come out of the woodwork just yet...I'm painting the woodwork!
Our house extension is nearly finished.  I've been painting for the past two weeks.  My wife was desperate to have Xmas dinner in our new dining room (it's still not finished).

Good news is the new Graphics DriverPacks are up in the nightlies.
Happy New Year!

All I was talking about was giving people the link to that page...

Are you talking about adding the download links to the DPBase?  I brought that idea up a while ago.
Good idea!
@Jeff,  Any chance of adding that functionality to the update-checker portion of the Base?  It already parses the .php file right?  Why not add the links for newer DriverPacks at the same time?

Of course, if you're refering to your MSFN post here...Bâshrat the Sneaky would NEVER agree to that.

That's probably because nobody's done it yet. smile

You could do it yourself...I'd recommend Microsoft Robocopy.
It's command-line scriptable and very robust.  There's even a M$ utility called Robocopy GUI for a graphical interface.
It's even built into M$ Vista.
We use it at my work to perform push/pull filecopy functions (based on time-stamped versioning) across our network.
I don't see why it wouldn't work in a 'pull' function from HTTP or FTP servers.

I'm not sure what you're requesting.
If you have a monitor that reports unacceptable resolution/refresh settings as "acceptable", then you have a broken monitor.

You can specify a lower setting in your unattended WINNT.SIF file (example):

[Display]
Xresolution=1024
Yresolution=768
BitsPerPel=32

Windows will use that resolution regardless of what the drivers are saying.

Or here's a direct link:

Oh, and welcome to driverpacks.net.

To answer your question with no sarcasm, we need a specific question for a specific answer.

I'll see what I can do.

OK, I'm working on a trifecta (word of the day!) release for the graphics DriverPacks to version 8.01.
G_B was finished, but I've now reopened it for Intel fixes.
I'm also debugging G_A ATICCC not working on desktop cards but works for mobility cards.
G_C saw .ini edits to support new file structure throughout the graphics DriverPacks.

Hope to release these for testing before years-end.

Could you post more about your issues with SP2 and the beta in the SP3 thread?

I'm fairly sure the fault is on my end.  I've stopped development work on my desktop because the current XP install is hosed (root problem).  I'm building a new unattended XP disk on my laptop but it's going slow (holidays and all).

hardware IDs are useful at this point.......

Not really, no.  Besides, the HWID is in his post.

I know exactly what @chud is talking about.  Somehow the .inf files got edited again.  The Intel .cat files have a SHA-1 hash in them for the .infs.  Any changes to the .infs (however small) will change the hash and break the driver signing.

I'll look into it.  @chud, was this using the latest nightly or the release dp?

I've tried it, it locks up when using SP2 source, but seems to work fine using SP3 source.
Like Helmi, my testing is limited by the holidays (Family, traveling, etc.)

No problem.  Thanks for the 'Thanks'.
Both of your HWIDs will be supported in the G_A 7.12 dp if I can get it out the door before the new year.  Otherwise it'll be 8.01 dp if it takes too long.

This is the self-extracting executable that contains the update package for Windows® XP Service Pack 3. Windows® XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes all previously released updates for the operating system. This update also includes a small number of new functionalities, which do not significantly change customers’ experience with the operating system.

With respect to the addon, I believe you need to integrate it AFTER SP3 has already been integrated.  The addon entries file has a check for SP3 or the integration will fail.  You can't integrate this addon with SP3 at the same time.  Also, this addon was built for use with the RVMIntegrator, but should work with nLite too.
All it does is replace files in the source with the files from kb888111.  There's no .exe to run or svcpack interaction.
From what I understand, M$ will probably update kb888111 or (my hope) include the patch/functionality into sp3 once public feedback is analyzed (there WILL be feedback on this).

On a side-note, Bâshrat the Sneaky hasn't abandoned this project, he's just very, very busy.
Overflow (Jeff), just like myself and others here, have been entrusted with the management of the project in his absence.  We do our best, but we are all volunteers and use our own personal time for these efforts.
Give us a break, OK?

This might help some people.  I'll take the addon apart and maybe get some insight on how to make our DriverPacks better.

A post from RyanVM's forums:

An addon to fix the 888111 problem!

integrate this on your SP3 source.

The other thing that doesn't help is how M$ updates their KB hotfixes.

KB888111 (1.0 released in 2004)
KB835221 (supersedes KB888111, released 2005)
KB888111 (updated to 1.0a, supersedes KB835221 & KB888111 1.0, released Nov 2006)

So when refering to kb888111...which version are we using?  Damn you M$!!!

If M$ doesn't incorporate the HDA fixes into SP3 RC2, I'm going to shoot someone! big_smile

NOTES;
There are a few ATI folders Erik worked very hard on, and I will undo some shufflework I did there, which would probably bring me up to 3550.

The ATI folders can get some work done on them.  I'll have to look into the .cat files to see if the .infs are signed.  If they're signed, there's not much we can do with the folder containing the drivers (i.e. \B34585\,  The others can get worked.  I'll look into it when I'm building the next G_A dp for the ATI 7.12 drivers and nVidia updates in the next week or so.
If I remake the G_A dp, the G_B and G_C will need path/.ini updates as well.  No problem!

10 more shopping-days before Christmas!
Happy holidays everyone!

I tried to make this tutorial as simple as possible.  But it's possible you missed a key step:

2) Next, put your Driverpacks BASE self-extracting archive someplace convenient (i.e. C:\Driverpacks\).
4) Now, download any driverpacks you need for your hardware to the new directory [C:\Driverpacks\Driverpacks\]

I guess I need to clarify those two steps.
Thanks for bringing this up.  I'm overdue to refresh this tutorial.  I hope to get some time over the weekend.

not a redistributable file, but a registry patch to allow a 'customized' download through MU based on your platform.
