Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

Sorry if someone mentioned this already, but the (i think it' setpoint) driver for the Logitec V200 Cordless Notebook Mouse doesn't work. Ive only got the German Error Message (i'll try to translate it.. hope someone recognizes it in english).

Beim installieren der folgenden Hardwarekomponente ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. ... Treiber ist für diese Plattform nicht vorgesehen

English Version (freely translated by himself^^)

An error occured during the installation of a hardware component. ... Driver isn't meant for this platform

I guess this driver was a Vista driver initially (Maybe something wasn't rewritten correctly).

It should be this driver path:
DP_HID_w.7z\D\3\H\LS\

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

Ok, I think I'm just going to remove support for Logitech SetPoint completely.  It's becoming too much of a pain in the ass.

EDIT:  Found a possible solution.  Testing....

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

From what I can tell, the DP will need different revisions of setpoint to cover all Logitech mice (and OEM variants). Royal pain.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

Well I noticed an .inf/.cat file pair that seems to be Vista specific.  I lopped it out and just need to test on a unit here at work.  I don't know if it'll be the difference or not, but it's more than likely my last best hope at getting it to work properly.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

I've uploaded the updated DP but have not yet had the chance to run a test on a system with a Logitech keyboard or mouse.  Any feedback and results will be greatly appreciated.  If this doesn't work, the next step will involve breaking driver signing.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

I have a rig that I can test this pack on but it looks like the first post link is broken. After playing around with the link, I couldn't find the file for the life of me. I can give it another try tomorrow and let you know if you don't get the chance to at your job.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

When I used the previous pack, my wireless Logitech ex110 mouse&keyboard sucked. Break my drivers .. i couldn't fix it and then c:\format. I can use & test again your pack if you dont use ant logitech driver. Better than a broken system. Windows Xp drivers are capable for this device. Anyway, working! I'm happy without setpoint.
This pack is interesting and useful for me. But the within this logitech problem or anyway in it, i will never use. System sucked 2 times because of this Hid pack. This my report & advice. Don't use setpoint or other bullshit drivers.
(sorry for bad english. not my mother language)

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

Link is dead ... the package seems not to be on the server ...

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

I updated the filename thinking the url still went to my hosting.  I took the opportunity to finally add the official FTP info into FileZilla and uploaded there.  Link should be working now....

New version works great ^_^

Thank God.  I was beginning to doubt it was possible.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

RogueSpear I only put the Game controllers in with the Lenovo / IBM stuff as I thought it might be something a lot of people would want. But I do not have drivers for them.

But the Lenovo / IBM drivers will save a lot of time during installs

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

Very impressive DP

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

Nice to see that you are still around Rick. Welcome back.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

In my case, it doesn't look like SetPoint installed on my rig. I'm looking at the DPsFnshr.log and it looks like this could b/c of my hardware. I'm assuming that this SetPoint version doesn't include the Bluetooth version? I have a MX5000 keyboard & MX 1000 mouse both for BlueTooth:

This is what the DPsFnshr.log detected:

I'd post the DPsFnshr.log but it's too dang long to upload.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

You would need to install your Bluetooth stack ahead of time.  What I do is KtD the SetPoint directory so that when I pair up my mouse it automatically grabs the drivers.  I am assuming that this would be the case with Microsoft's stack as well.  Since pairing is a manual endeavor, there wouldn't be a way for the BT devices to be discovered.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

And maybe thats the approach needed to support all bluetooth devices.  Install the Bluetooth stacks FIRST.

People don't complain that their network card drivers have to be loaded before a TCP/IP configuration can be set up.  Same thing with Bluetooth.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

The problem is that installing a 3rd party Bluetooth stack is more than just trivial.  Sure Microsoft's stack is built in, but it completely sucks and I remove it with nLite.  Even if you don't remove it however, the pairing process is not something which can be automated.  Every BT device I have ever laid my hands on - and that's probably around 100 or so now - requires that you push a button, flick a switch, or do something physical to the device to enable pairing.  Without pairing you don't have a PnP enumeration.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

As much as I like the concept of a HID pack, the logitech mess still creeps up and makes some setups unusable. 90204 lists v4.7 of setpoint drivers, however my 5500mx revolution combo would yellow mark in the device manager until I manually installed 4.7 from logitech's website. What is so tricky with logitech drivers?

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

As well as the IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad UltraNav and TrackPoint drivers listed on last page can the drivers / software for other laptop extra keys be added in here ? like Software for HP and Acer laptops multimedia and wireless on/off keys

There's two installers with SetPoint, CDDRV_Installer.msi and KhalInstaller32.msi.  Do you think if I made those into exception installers that the problems would then be fixed?  From looking at them myself, I just really don't know.  At this point that only Logitech HID devices I have at the ready are bluetooth mice - and since those need to be paired up post install, everything seems to work flawless.  I am guessing there's a difference when it comes to a directly connected USB device that detects during setup itself.  Anyway the point I'm trying to make I suppose is that I can make the installers and update the DP, but I won't be able to properly test the proposed solution.  If you, or others, are willing to test it out I'm willing to put together the installers.

I'm willing to test, it just wont be as frequent as I like. Thanks.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

Ok, I'll throw them together and post a "nightly", leaving the current release as is.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

This is turning out be much more complicated than I anticipated...  still working on it though.

Re: [CLSD] DP_HID_wnt5_x86-32_90204

Hey RogueSpear.. With all the work that you contribute to on all the blogs out there in the land of the internet, this is nothing. I say that if you are having problems with this one, strip it out of the pack. You have more "important" things to do. Am I right?
