Hi
I was uploading grap B and C testpacks when I saw this appear.. grins.

I hope this tests good.. it looks like a good job.
(I have gotten me an ICH9 and ICH9R mobo to test on.. so it's gonna be fun.)

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: [IMPL] Intel Matrix Storage v8.6.0.1007 10/12/2008

Thanks for all the good work. I appreciate the time you spend and don't want to look impatient. Yet I'm eager to apply the new Intel Matrix Storage.

In DriverPacks Overview the MassStorage Pack is still 8.05. Is it safe to use 8.06C or should I wait until a final version appears in Overview?

Re: [IMPL] Intel Matrix Storage v8.6.0.1007 10/12/2008

Hi
you can use this test pack.
Several people have been using it, and the only thing I see is that we was asked to update the VIA hyperion driver.

I was abroad for a while and felt like I could use some rest.
I will probably do the Via REQuest soon, and we may be able to test and then get it to release before end of June.

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: [IMPL] Intel Matrix Storage v8.6.0.1007 10/12/2008

re -  Is it safe to use 8.06C or should I wait...

The only way packs become final is if we recieve posts from users saying there are no issues. It's a perfect opprtunity to help yourself - try it... and if it works let us know it did.

we get a critical mass of positive feed back on teh test packs and BAM it's a release.

Re: [IMPL] Intel Matrix Storage v8.6.0.1007 10/12/2008

Hi guys! I saw that JMicro had updated Windows 2000/XP/Vista 32/64-bit JMB36X/JMB37X/JMB38x driver to version 1.17.38WHQL (06/23/08').
ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2 … 38WHQL.zip
ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2 … e_Note.txt
I think it will be good to update this driver in DriverPack.

P.S.: Sorry if I posted about it in wrong place and show me where it must be.

Thx for reporting pretzel. Actually I added this one 2 days ago in my test pack. I will upload it asap.

IMHO this driver is for Intel boards only. For other board it still is 8.2.0.1001: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_ … ;submit=Go!

I'm reluctant integrating an Intel board driver on my non-Intel (p.e. Gigabyte) board, even if it's newer.

Will the update driverpack contain both versions or just the newest for Intel boards?

I'm sorry, unless you provide some concrete proof that this GENERIC iastor driver is "for intel boards only" (this is not an opinion), I am calling this statement as complete nonsense. Furthermore I'm reporting your post to be removed as it helps nobody.

This is a intel southbridge driver, nothing more.

@Fragbert,

Sorry for my ignorance and your subtile way of making that clear tongue

Just a humble explanation of how my insane 'opinion' disturbed my mind:

Following your link I read: "Installs the Intel® Matrix Storage Technology (RAID) driver version 8.2.3.1001 for Intel® Desktop Boards." and "valid for the products listed below".

From Intel Download Center > Chipsets > Chipset Software > Intel® Matrix Storage Manager > Windows* XP Professional I'm getting to the place I provided a link to; ver.# 8.2.0.1001.

I'm still trying to figure out how I could have overlooked the consideration of Intel messing up their site hmm

Basic investigation of the actual drivers will lead anyone to conclude there is no unique hwid's pertaining to a particular board. This is not the first nor the last incident where intel releases chipset/iastor drivers that list their branded boards in a compatability list.

Per the readme.txt, you will see the hardware requirements are particular southbridges, not boards.

Re: [IMPL] Intel Matrix Storage v8.6.0.1007 10/12/2008

Fragbert did what i am usually guilty of. he gave the correct answer. it just did not read well/nice.
he meant no harm, i assure you. We're techs not english teachers LOL. I really liked your response hee hee.
I find that if you phrase things as a question (Which you did - yay!) and say please and thank you it draws better answers.

don't worry if we use an intel or any other brand of driver. if we have established that it supports a certain HWID there is no reason to worry. drivers are matched by HWID not by name, names don't matter at all.

on some occasions especially with certain OEM (like dell), a card will have the same base hwid as a generic ( say nvida ) but the dell graphics card will only work with the dell driver. in these cases we can make edits to the dell inf to limit it to a specific card (HWID subsystem) so it coexists with the generic. This doesn't happen very often...

The best thing for everybody is to test it. If it doesnt work give us your HWID and tell us it failed...
We will figure it out and fix it.

Even better for everyone is to test it and let us know it worked! wink

Thanks to all of you for your help and the time you spend here.

Jeff

Re: [IMPL] Intel Matrix Storage v8.6.0.1007 10/12/2008

the reasoning behind putting unedited files back in the VIA is that signing probably got broken for PnP.

the name "8.06.E" was on purpose.
JakeLD mentioned he wrote a 806D (which he had not yet uploaded), and I did not want to use 807a.

Re: [IMPL] Intel Matrix Storage v8.6.0.1007 10/12/2008

I still have no Internet at my new apartment...i should be able to work on the new mass storage pack this week. I won't let you guys down, I promise!

Re: [IMPL] Intel Matrix Storage v8.6.0.1007 10/12/2008

JakeLD,
please do not see this as a rebuke.
I made 806E with unadulerated drivers because I think the single HWID that some see as (we wanna have that OLD hwid) was most probably causing more issues than what it solved, and editing out lines for x64 also breaks signing.

I did not pull links to 806C.
806C has syprepped optimised INFs for Via.
806E has WHQL.
We will no longer look at size because size does not mean much in download price now.. We look at quality.
I am not saying that we will undo all syprep optimisations, but we must at least find out why via became a thorn in our hide.

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.
