well no... it's not the "same" error...
this time it created svcpack.inf (much further along in the process) and then could not edit it.
is there any possability that we ran out of free disk space?
It's impossible that I ran out of disk space unless this process takes up 120 GB. This is a brand new HDD and I formatted all of it and installed Windows
I give up... there is somthing that you are doing that 100,000 other users are not...
and i am tired of guessing
Okay, then is it possible to manually install the packs after I install Windows? Instead of slipstreaming it can I install them like I would with an executable driver install
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 159#p20159
Okay, so far I thought it might have been the media (my CD-RWs) that were the problem, but I have not had a chance to buy a new set of those, so I thought my HDD might be the issue. Maybe when my HDD is formatted, it is not clearing everything so maybe some files are lingering that cause errors. So for the past 10 or so complete formats I did during the past few days, what I did was: boot with my Win CD, delete all the partitions, then exit, reboot with a Linux LiveCD, write to the empty tables with fdisk ('w' for save and exit), then reboot with the WinCD again then format. I thought maybe this would trick the HDD or something, but I'm not quite sure how it works. Anyway, the last 10 times I did this, DriverPacks slipstreamed 9 of the times. It might be luck or something, but I dunno, except I find that this method for some reason works. I can slipstream now, but I have issues using nLite and DriverPacks. Just to make sure I have this straight, I use nLite to do any editing like component removing, then use DriverPacks, then I can create a .iso without using nLite again, correct?
Yes that is correct...
your hard drive may have a few 'soft' sectors or a 'grown defect' and formatting deallocates them...
unfortunately taht would mean checking the rma status on the drive some have 3-5 year warrantys
and ususally a utility to test them with that will give you a status of the drive.
service packs and updates
unattended and tweaks with nlite - pause at the create iso screen
run DriverPacks
punch the button on create iso image as soon as DriverPacks is done.
test your ISO in VMWare or VirtualMachine or equivilent
burn ISO to media
test in live machine
123...
Okay, I now think the problem is the MEDIA! I did a full blank on my CD (I had not done so for the 10 times I used it) and burned the same exact image I had used before, and now when I try it, it will not slipstream correctly at all, not even once. I think it is the CD that is the problem! Everyone make sure you have good CDs
I just re-burned the same CD for a second time, and now everything is working perfectly! I just booted it and did a format and installed Windows and the slipstream is flawless.
I can almost conclude 99% the problem is with the media

I know you all like to use DVD-RW but I had many problems with them.
The price of DVD+R is now so cheap that I am prepared to "waste" a few cents.
I never have problems with single use DVD's and burn at 8x.
Just a thought.
We were never able to find the problem...
Please review the trouble shooting steps above, make sure you have eliminated all of them...
If you can think of something we missed i am all ears

I am sorry but I have no idea what you mean.
I used microsoft provided brand new CD with the system, fresh from the envelop.
Downloaded fresh files from DP, including installation, and ran it.
Where does any DVD-RW come into the process? (BTW I never use them at all precisely for the reasons you mentioned.)
he misunderstood... obviously... it happens
