Topic: [IMPL] Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH)

Any chance we can find a spot for the USH drivers?  I have a new Dell E6400 series that needs this driver, and I didn't see any pack that would include it.

Also please note that this is not just a package of set drivers, it is also an application - http://support.dell.com/support/downloa … p;impid=-1

I also ran across this, not sure if it helps - http://community.landesk.com/support/me … 4518#14518 and http://community.landesk.com/support/se … ysprep.zip + http://community.landesk.com/support/se … %20Hub.zip

They sysprep might help narrow this one down for us.

Any specific location where this driver can be placed?

This could go in the misc pack, is the application really necessary ? I never heard of USH drivers before.

Re: [IMPL] Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH)

Sadly yes....  It's being included in several new hardware models including Dell / Toshiba / etc.

Without the driver / software you end up with this

Any laptop that comes with encrypted HDD's needs this software to function properly.

I'll take a peek at it.  We're mostly a Dell shop here but I haven't run into this one yet.

Re: [IMPL] Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH)

Same here RS... All new E series laptops with HDD encryption apparently come with em >_<

Re: [IMPL] Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH)

I noticed that most of the supported devices are Latitudes which explains why I haven't run across it yet.  But I'm sure the time will come, so I'll see what is involved with this thing and hopefully we can get it sorted.

Re: [IMPL] Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH)

I'm happy to test out any beta drivers you need.  Let me know ^_^  and thanks in advance.

Re: [IMPL] Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH)

Ok I implemented the drivers into the Misc pack.  Note that it's only the drivers and that I did not make exception installers.  As I don't readily have access to the appropriate hardware for testing, I am unable to evaluate if the excess software installs are anything necessary or even desirable.  Both the TabletPC drivers and the Broadcom security drivers software are .msi files which means it shouldn't be too difficult for me to make exception installers for them.  Again though - if it's necessary.  I've noticed over the years that some of these things are not only unnecessary, but in some cases it is preferable to leave them out entirely.  Also, both installs include all kinds of Microsoft Visual C/C++ runtimes which I would lop off making those runtime installations prerequisite.

Let me know if the driver portion of this all works out for you, and if exception installers are warranted I'll bake those into the next release.

Re: [IMPL] Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH)

I must agree most of the time you don't need software that comes with drivers. Sometimes those software are added to windows startup and take resources on your PC for no reasons. Plus windows has already built in software for wireless manager, modem etc...

Re: [IMPL] Broadcom Unified Security Hub (USH)

I've got the driver from the bloated install if any of you guys want it.

And yes, it works big_smile [as far as to say that it installs - i've added it to a 3rd party driverpack i make at work and it shows as installed within windows]

Cheers

It was probably merged / added to one of the other packs...

I am just guessing since the orginal above file was moved to our archive folder.
