There really isn't a good place to ask about this.
But have people been using DriverPacks with Windows Deployment Services
As of right now, i just injected my boot images with the lan drivers i actually need, but it would be nice to inject all drivers smile
Then the next thing in line would be added the drivers into the driver portion of WDS server 2008 R2
Obviously WDS handles drivers great, I can't see why we couldn't have packs that cover most of the hardware.

Also on a side note. I did just verify again that you do have to have the KB835221.exe installed before this will work.
Is there any harm in integrating that into machines that don't need it?

So i went another route for a while but was just checking in. It seems that the sounds packs still haven't been updated,
current sound packs are 805 here the betas from this thread or 906b4, any word on getting them live?

I have kinda done this a bit. basically you could do the first steps to a copy of xp (slipstream SP's, intergrate hotfixes, use nlite, and tweaks etc) then just install that copy of xp that you tweaked from the hard drive, to do that you would need to boot into bartpe copy over the windows install from usb to the hdd and run this command.
winnt32.exe /syspart:c: /tempdrive:c: /noreboot /makelocalsource
Seems easy peasy to me.

If you have questions just ask.

I have been decided to shift my efforts to making sweet universal images for Win7, however this is pretty much the same setup as Vista so.....
Have people tried injecting all the vista lan driver pack into WinPE using

peimg /inf:<source path>\*.inf <destination path>\windows

Here is some code that apparently recursively searches for the inf files.

set Drivers=% 1
set DestFolder=c:\winpe_x86
pushd %Drivers%
for /f %%i in ('dir /s /b *.inf') do (
peimg /inf:%%i %DestFolder%\mount\windows
if ERRORLEVEL 1 echo %%i>>%Drivers%\bad_driver.txt
)
popd

I have not tried it but it looks like i could point it towards the extracted pack and inject it into a mounted wim file. Apply the changes and away i go.
Thoughts?

I am not really sure about seeding the chipset driver, never done that.
Anyway i just wanted you to know the hang that i get from the DP_Graphics_B_wnt5_x86-32_90701 is reproducable via SAD. after the reboot though everything is dandy.

Have you tried OfflineSysprep? Once you go you will never return to a regular sysprep again. My syspreping takes a minute or two, and i inject all drivers a ton of mass storage drivers and have all the other goodies from OSP
BTW never had your issue, and i use offlinesysprep.
coincidence? tongue

How does it react during a clean XP install with DriverPacks integrated?

Guess i don't ever do that hmm
My use for driver packs are just using SAD though.
If you want me to test something just let me know, i will.

Ok here is the story with the DP_Graphics_B_wnt5_x86-32_90701.7z
I run SAD once and it find something and installs something. I still have exclamations in Device manager. I run a second time and it actually hangs this time

Info: Installing INF file "c:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\igxp32_757949EFDD70357EE37252D828ACA09CDFC75B7\igxp32.inf" of Type 6.
Info: Looking for Model Section [intel.Mfg]
Info: Installing devices with Id "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2582&SUBSYS_0179102&REV_04" using INF "C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\igxp32_757949EFDD70357EE37252D828ACA09CDFC75B7\igxp32.inf".
Info: ENTER UpdateDriverForPluginPlay

After the hang i have to hard reset, and run it a 3rd time. It runs all good this time and drivers are installed.

I will test what ever you want.
I guess i don't really understand the driver signing. I just run the DP_Install_Tool.cmd from SAD. Didn't know that if there was driving signing issues they wouldn't install.

I search for info on this and see that there are a few post complaining about hangs etc caused by this. I made a 3rd party pack out of the following driver and it worked fine. However the current Grapics packs do not work for me at all.
Graphics A    9.06
Graphics B    9.06

Gotcha. Although since i just got my setup working nicely i will probably steer clear for a while.

On a side note if you guys ever need help testing something i would be more then happy to help just let me know.

What is hwidinstaller.exe?
Is that the same thing as DP_Install_Tool.cmd?

@llewxam: I do nearly the same thing, struggled with it for a day or two, but have it working now, Use sysprep to insert a batch file into GuiRunOnce. From the batch file i first call an autoit program i found and edited for my needs, very similar to the one you posted that cleans up the found new hardware (i just hit esc on the prompt). then i do two runs of DP_Install_Tool.cmd as 1 run does not get the graphics completely. From there i automatically rename the machine to the serial tag, reboot and automatically join the domain. OSP handles all HAL and mass storage issues for me. Driver packs do the drivers. Batch files handle what i need domain wise.
Thanks goes out to everyone for your help!

While i did not follow the instructions in this tutorial
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1682
I might go through it just for experience.
I am using the GuiRunOnce but call DP_Install_Tool.cmd via a batch file that is called from the GuiRunOnce.
I am not having any issue with the desktop.ini bug ducumented here.
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1208
Everything seems to be working for me.

Use Offlinesysprep instead of mysysprep and use the AutoConfigure at boot.
http://www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?showtopic=19397
In addition ditch the real hardware and virtualize the image. I am currently using virtualbox as it is free and suites my needs nicely.
I have one image that supports our range of hardware sx280-760's

*EDIT*
I would love to speak with you more as we are in the same boat accept i am the only brain behind our setup and i am about fried on the subject. We could bounce ideas/scripts/problems/solutions off of one another.

Ok, i wrote a little autoit that searches for found new hardware and presses esc. I call this from a batch file before i run DP_Install_Tool.cmd. I do all this from the GuiRunOnce. I tried the RunOnceEX jazz and while i got it working it just didnt seem to flow like i wanted it to. So far it seem to be working. I looked around but am not seeing the issues with the GuiRunOnce.
If you want to see my autoit script and or my batch file i will be happy to post it.

Appears to work accept i needed a title in there.

start /wait "Insert title here" "%SystemRoot%\system32\DP_Install_Tool.cmd"

Although i don't really know if i need this because of the issue of "Found New Hardware Wizard".

So i tried using

@echo off

SET KEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx

REG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "Installing Drivers" /f
REG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\windows\system32\DP_Install_Tool.cmd" /f

And i still get the pop up Found New Hardware Wizard.
Which in turn makes the DP_Install_Tool say PnP manager busy.
I did not try this after a sysprep but just added it to reg and rebooted. I would assume i would have the same results whether it is being syspreped or not.
Ideas?

I am using the GUIRunonce from sysprep. I know you said give RunOnceEX a shot, but will this be my solution for this? I am not real familiar with RunOnceEX but i need to run SAD twice because of the graphic chipset then the graphic driver. I can just add DP_Install_Tool.cmd back into RunOnceEX a second time via bat surely?

Once again i will have to give this a whirl tomorrow as i am not at work. I admit hard coding C:\windows is a bad idea but....
Whats the big deal on the system32 dir? I have started a habit of throwing a bunch of stuff in there, very handy for cmd tools etc
BTW m1. i dont really understand the difference between the two for SAD.

So i am a little confused here on what to do. When i first image my machine i get all sorts of pop ups from the "Found New Hardware Wizard".  Currently i am trying to call DP_Install_Tool.cmd automatically but it wont run while this prompt is up. Is the DSPdsblr.exe supposed to fix this or is that for something else? I also read http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 401#p12401 about the continue.exe  but that seems like it is outdated, the window titles are different now i think. I just need to take care of these "Found New Hardware Wizard" prompts and all would be good.
Thanks again for all your help

use the command "Call" to run the script from a batchfile

Call %SystemDrive%/DriverPacks.net/DP_Install_Tool.cmd

that way it will return to your batchfile after the script exits.

This did not appear to work. Here is what i have. My file simply just ran the DP_Install_Tool and never ran the rest of my code. I have been using the file without the first call for a long time with no issues. Any ideas on what i am doing wrong?

firstboot.cmd

Call C:\WINDOWS\system32\DP_Install_Tool.cmd
@Echo off
c:\windows\system32\wsname /N:$SERIALNUM
reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Runonce" /V runforme /d c:\windows\system32\secondboot.cmd
c:\windows\system32\shutgui /l /y /t:60 /r

This appeared to work!!!!!
Thanks OverFlow for all your help.
Thanks Major for whatever it is you did!!!!!

Perfect, that's what i did not do. I will give it a whirl. Thank you!!!!

I would be happy to test and provide result + API log if it fails. I probably wont have the opportunity until Monday however.
