ok,.....

so what combination is now recommended....:
like this: first slipstream in ISO only driverpacks storage drivers so it can boot unintended xp,  then on the first winxp boot start SAD.?, or should i slipstream all drivers in ISO,?
or something diferent is recommended?

thanks

SAD.....that is new to me......
ok, plz correct me if i am wrong,....before i used method2 and KTD, ...that is my existing unintended xp DVD(approx 2GB)
i did a bit digging in forum about SAD, but stil a bit confused, ...........
if got this right SAD is "after install" opposing to method 2(which is before winxp install)?......
will SAD properly install all drivers(chipset,GPU, CPU, sound, lan,...etc) in one go?

thanks

Hi there,

i am driverpacks user for almost a year, so now i could say i am not a total newbie....
i use all driverpacks provided, and even 3rd party provided in forum on your hosting server,....with KTD

there is one small annoyance, when my windows xp sp2 gets installed, when i change graphic card and other hardware it gets recognized, sometimes it takes a while until it initializes the hardware...but that is perfectly ok, since i dont change hardware twice in day.

this is what gets on my nerves: when i plug in a usb memory stick it need about minute or two to get it working, is that because of KTD?....if it is am not gonna use KTD anymore,  it obviously has an impact on PC performance...or am i wrong....

please advise

BTW: when r u gonna update chipset pack, it is been a while since last update smile, i get BSOD on some nforce mbos

Jaak,
thanks for clarification big_smile
well, it isn't difficult for me to insert those two lines, i just wanted to know how it works, i h8 being ignorant, now i know what to do, .....sorry for the fuss i made neutral

okay, i have done driverpacks method2(KTD), again , over the existing slipstreamed driverpacks, and it doesn't insert "NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore" line in the existing winnt.sif, ....weird,

Are you 100% sure DPs_BASE inserts "DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore" and "NonDriverSigningPolicy=Ignore" lines in winnt.sif?

cheers

yes i did, i think, i am not sure anymore.............
Yes you r right, now i am 100% sure i modified winnt.sif file AFTER DPbase was run.
Does it matter?....and why

But  i am not 100% sure i removed NonDriverSigningPolicy entry after DPbase put it there, i am only sure i added DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore when you told me to, in the previous posts.

I am loosing it, maybe i should buy some of that Ginkgo biloba.

when i first discovered virtualization it was vmware and often i used "easywmx" with it, but after that m$ rolled out Virtual PC 2007 and it was free, so i started to using it. Now i discovered VirtualBox and i like it. For now i am sticking with VirtualBox coz of ease of use and speed(it is not superb, but it is satisfying)

if you r still wondering wtf is VirtualBox go here:
http://www.virtualbox.org/

cheers m8s

errrrr, did you run an experiment........?
What method is faster during the installation of windows(i use 3rd party packs)?

cheers

tnx for that extra info,

i tried it again with policy set to ignore and KTD(btw: why does KTD process takes so long?) and it worked.

Well it didn't work 100% coz in device manager there was ati redeon xpress 1100 but with EXCMLAMATION MARK(!) on it. So i right clicked and left clicked uninstall and then i clicked "Scan for hardware changes" and it automatically found the drivers and installed them, and now it works, even ATI CCC works(dotnet FX integration worked)

thanks for everything big_smile

if there are interested newbies i can make very simple tutorial how to integrate .NET FRAMEWORK(1.1+2+3+3.5)

Sorry we can't be any more help.  It's difficult when I'm not sitting in front of your notebook. hmm
I have a feeling that the Chipset and SMbus drivers need a restart BEFORE the graphics drivers can be loaded.  It seems the PnP enumerator isn't detecting your hardware in the right order.
I have no proof, just a nagging suspicion.

Do you have Driver Signing disabled in the winnt.sif file?  If not, it should be.

Have you tried KTD?  I would recommend extracting the DPGA80...7z file from the OEM folder on your DVD to your desktop.
Go to your Device Manager, select the VGA adapter properties, click the "Update Driver" button.
Point to the D\G\A1 folder and let it detect.  If it gives any errors at all from that point, our DP won't work for you (and I'm sorry).
If it works, then there's something else wrong and I'm at a loss.

i know i am a bit boring, sry for that big_smile

if you meant this, i don't have it in my winnt.sif file
Is it mandatory when using Driverpacks?
maybe that is why i got those problems, is it possible?
[Unattended]
DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore

Okay, here is what i have done so far,

1) I have modified WINXP cd made it unattended(licence number, location...etc)
2) Slipstreamed SP2
3) Updated WINXP dir with ryanVM update pack(postSP2 updates and hot-fixes)
4) Integrated .NET framework(1.1 and 2)
5) Used DPs_BASE.exe to integrate drivers(without KTD, method2, ATI CCC), DP_Graphics_A_wnt5_x86-32_80309.7z, and all other driverPacks from the site
6) Made ISO image with CDIMAGE.EXE(M1cr0$0ft internal tool)
7) Then i have installed it on my Asus laptop

and here is the result:
http://dado023.googlepages.com/TroubleS … ugging.zip
in this zip file there are screenshots of what was there when setup(installation of winxp) finished
it seems the ati radeon is recognized, but for some strange reason it isn't installed, like other hardware, by driverpacks

I use RogueSpear's .NET2 installer from here.
I install it during T-13 svcpack.  Just drag the .exe installer to the i386\svcpack folder, then make an entry in i386\svcpack.inf (may be compressed into svcpack.in_) in the [SetupHotfixesToRun] section.

Instructions can be found on msfn here.
http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/24/

tnx smartie

i dont have a clue what is svcpack, i have never heard of RogueSpear....etc
you throwed me enough to dig, and so i did, o yeah i have dug alot big_smile
as you know i am still on a learning curve, but i am learning freaking fast tongue

so far i have read a few guides, for all others who wants to know HOW TO here are the links:
http://www.msfn.org/board/GUIDE-Integra … 10788.html
http://www.msfn.org/board/Silent-NET-Ma … ntry613531
http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/24/

now i know exactly what to do,.....it seems i am turning into a ........GEEK, is it possible.....noooooooooooooooooooooo

mega tnx

PS: maybe this should be a separate sticky, coz those three links should be enough for integrating .NET framework.........or not, what do ya think?

hm, i know this is going to be little off topic..........

If you plan to use the new ATI CCC, you MUST have .NET installed for it to work properly.  Private testing has proved that ATI CCC will not install properly if .NET is integrated at GUIRunOnce or at RunOnceEx, but integrating .NET at SVCPACK (T-13) was successful.  If you would/would not like to see .NET integrated into the DriverPacks, please leave us feedback.

where can i find a tutorial how to integrate .net frameowrk 2 and 3????
i was searching over at msfn.org but didn't have any luck
thank in advance

and again, sorry for the OT
cheers

The good news is it worked! smile

I'll try a new nightly in the next day or so.
@dado023, thanks for confirming for me.  Are you prepared to test another DP for us in a day or so?

sure , bring it on big_smile

that new hardware wizard was installing(pressing NEXT) ATI radeon xpress 1100(that is what i saw; not sure if its is gart)
hm, i should switch to RW dvds coz i threw lots of DVD-Rs in the garbage lately sad

one noobish question: where can i find setupapi.log?

suplemental, star date 150320081153:

scratch that, i found one setupapi.log in windows directory, you can download it from here
if that is not the right setupapi.log let me now where to find it

okay, installation is done, and here is the report:
right after the installation was done, the part where the Finisher is executed, i got "Found New Hardware Wizard" screen poped out, then i pushed NEXT few times , the result was installation of ATI RADEON XPRESS 1100........
Somehow this appearance of "Found New Hardware Wizard" windows is not practical because a real person must finish the VGA driver installation, but then again to push NEXT few times isnt so hard, big_smile
here is the HWID after restart(there is some hardware which is not recognized such as modem and card reader... ):

OK, here's the problem.
Your HWID is a correct match in the mobility.inf file I wrote, but it matches for a XPress 200M series, NOT the Xpress 1100 that you have.
Hmmm, I'll have to dissect the ASUS drivers to see what they did.  I may have to add lines to the mobility.inf to support it.
See, this is why ATI doesn't normally support laptop chipsets directly, they leave it up to the vendor to make their own to support any custom features/resolutions.
I don't understand why their drivers are so huge.  117MB seems unreasonable to me.  Downloading now.

BTW, I'm changing the G_A dp to add the old GART driver back in (with a finisher exception) and removed the WDM folder (in G_B\A5\).

any progress? as soon as you build new pack ill test it...... big_smile

and this is winxp WITH driverpacks and the output of hwids tool gave me:
you can see here driverpacks installed ATi SMbus, but it didnt install ATI VGA.......very strange, isn't it

in the next post ill copy/paste windowsXP with driverpacks installation.....
please be patient with me........... big_smile

gulp, .....please forgive me, coz i think i have mislead you
here is why:
i have installed windows with all driver packs included, then i noticed gpu didnt install it self, but ati smbus did install ok,
and then i manually installed an original setup of gpu driver and then i used  "HardWareID Tool (HWID's)"......sorrrrrrrrry, noob mistake i know.........

okay to get things right , i just stared clean install, again, then when it is finished ill use HWIDS tool, and post here, ill need approx 30minutes.....

once again, i apologize for this noob mistake

errrrr, so what could be the problem, or what soulution could i use to solve this issue with ati xpress 1100

mr_smartepants wrote:

Hello there,

This is odd, since that HWID is supported in the latest G_A DP and has been for months.  Did you use an older G_A dp or the 8.02 release?

Sry 4 the late response............

I used winXPsp2 with these driverpacks(i included all packs with DPbase):
Chipset      7.10.1
CPU         7.04.1
Graphics A     8.02
Graphics B     7.12.1
Graphics C     7.12
LAN         8.02.1
MassStorage     8.02.1
Sound A     8.02.1
Sound B     7.12
WLAN         8.02

cheers

Thanks for the welcome, big_smile
I have done as you suggested, so i have opened another thread, posted WHIDS and posted an ASUS link.
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 356#p18356
I hope that will be enough

But the same question bothers me again: is it safe to integrate all 3RDparty drivers, from this thread, will they conflict, i mean did Bâshrat the Sneaky approve it?
