Topic: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

The main problem is VGA driver, coz they is not installed, and i have to do it manually, as modem driver also.
Other drivers like atherosWIFI is installed automaticly,

I have posted the original thread here, i was advised to make a post in this subforum.
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic. … 87&p=5

so here is the link for the laptop(specs, desc...etc)

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

Hello there,

This is odd, since that HWID is supported in the latest G_A DP and has been for months.  Did you use an older G_A dp or the 8.02 release?

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

I wonder if this is similar to a problem I'm having with a HP 6710b with Intel 965GM graphics.  It too won't detect the driver correctly.  I put it down to another comment I saw on here recently about it possibly due to it being a widescreen display.  I will get the relevant information (HWID/Log etc) once I'm back in front of that laptop.

Sry 4 the late response............

I used winXPsp2 with these driverpacks(i included all packs with DPbase):
Chipset      7.10.1
CPU         7.04.1
Graphics A     8.02
Graphics B     7.12.1
Graphics C     7.12
LAN         8.02.1
MassStorage     8.02.1
Sound A     8.02.1
Sound B     7.12
WLAN         8.02

cheers

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

errrrr, so what could be the problem, or what soulution could i use to solve this issue with ati xpress 1100

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

I'm not sure it'll work with the G_A DP.  I'm downloading the IGP drivers from ATI to have a look.  I might have to implement some of them into either the chipset or graphics_a DP.
I'll have a look.
BTW, your graphics chip WAS detected properly, otherwise it would just show generic "Display Adapter" under your device manager.

Something else isn't right.

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

gulp, .....please forgive me, coz i think i have mislead you
here is why:
i have installed windows with all driver packs included, then i noticed gpu didnt install it self, but ati smbus did install ok,
and then i manually installed an original setup of gpu driver and then i used  "HardWareID Tool (HWID's)"......sorrrrrrrrry, noob mistake i know.........

okay to get things right , i just stared clean install, again, then when it is finished ill use HWIDS tool, and post here, ill need approx 30minutes.....

once again, i apologize for this noob mistake

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

OK, here's the problem.
Your HWID is a correct match in the mobility.inf file I wrote, but it matches for a XPress 200M series, NOT the Xpress 1100 that you have.
Hmmm, I'll have to dissect the ASUS drivers to see what they did.  I may have to add lines to the mobility.inf to support it.
See, this is why ATI doesn't normally support laptop chipsets directly, they leave it up to the vendor to make their own to support any custom features/resolutions.
I don't understand why their drivers are so huge.  117MB seems unreasonable to me.  Downloading now.

BTW, I'm changing the G_A dp to add the old GART driver back in (with a finisher exception) and removed the WDM folder (in G_B\A5\).

Probably x86 and x86.64 in one package, most likely an inefficient ZIP file.
Had that one before - lot's of duplicate files (readme's and stuff), too...

You can try this one.  I added the GART driver back in (with other tweaks).  Please report back with your findings (good/bad).

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

tnx
i'll probably try it tonight, i hope it will work

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

okay, installation is done, and here is the report:
right after the installation was done, the part where the Finisher is executed, i got "Found New Hardware Wizard" screen poped out, then i pushed NEXT few times , the result was installation of ATI RADEON XPRESS 1100........
Somehow this appearance of "Found New Hardware Wizard" windows is not practical because a real person must finish the VGA driver installation, but then again to push NEXT few times isnt so hard, big_smile
here is the HWID after restart(there is some hardware which is not recognized such as modem and card reader... ):

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

I will swear loudly.
I just lost ten minutes of thinking when the post went poof.

NEXT can be caused by the driver itself.
I don't want to make the choice for you.
The driver may have no default setting.

I have seen such drivers, and posted about my unwillingness to make choice in driver.
I can test something like that and edit that driver so it works for me, out of the box..
If we include that in the pack it may take ages before somebody complains. It may take ten minutes and an angry customer starts posting about a sizzling monitor..

Did you use monitor pack?
(some of those drivers had no default.)

Above is only a  hinting about what I wrote and lost.
It was a long post. dammit.

The answer was 42?
Kind regards, Jaak.

Re: Asus X51R ati radeon xpress 1100

No Jaak, what he saw was the 'silent' installer for the GART driver that wasn't so 'silent' after all.
sad

<sigh> More work for me...yay.

The good news is it worked! smile

I'll try a new nightly in the next day or so.

hm, i should switch to RW dvds coz i threw lots of DVD-Rs in the garbage lately sad

one noobish question: where can i find setupapi.log?

suplemental, star date 150320081153:

scratch that, i found one setupapi.log in windows directory, you can download it from here
if that is not the right setupapi.log let me now where to find it
