Some help please...

Heyy
Driverpack Base unslipstreams my precious Dutch KB883667!
I have NLD windows, and NLD KB883667, slipstreamed with nLite. Then I run base and...:

The only problem with this KB is when people don't use the localized version.
Ooh and even worse, after using Base, there is no newdev.dl_ file anymore in the i386 folder! This means error during Windows Setup. I can choose to cancel setup or continue without the file sad

took some time but I read on this forum somewhere that newdev is not only on the original Winxp cd but also in this KB.
So Base checks if  I intergrated this KB and simply deletes the newdev file.
As a solution I extracted the newdev.dll file from the KB, cabbed it and copied it to my i386 folder... but I'm sure that's not the same thing as integrating the KB. So I 'll hope it will be fixed smile

I still have this issue, best is not to install the videocard driver, or to use the Medion rescue dvd but that contains so much junk.

hwids.txt
And here and here you can find the chipsetdriver and the videocard driver for this laptop.

I am going to make a new nlite cd without removing any of the videocard drivers, not integrating the driverpacks. then test if I can install the videocard normally.
Also I know the issue during setup, seeing a New Hardware Found window, can be fixed with KB883667 but I need the NLD version.

djeez I just looked over that BROWSE button, I just pressed DISC and continued...

topic ready for deletion big_smile

POST 2 AND 1 are linked, I edited my post 1, and submitted, then I got my edited first post + a copy of it as second post!

I tried to delete the contents of post 2, but then the contents of post 1 are also gone :S

edit.
OK maybe cos its Friday 13th but all my posts appear twice...

Hi, I just downloaded Base10 and all other packs, they are all up to date according to the Base GUI.
then I click Slipstream!
and I get this message:

Critical Error:

There are not yet any slipstream modules for the selected platform!

Ofcourse I didn't select anything since there is nothing to select. Perhaps something wrong with detecting the Windows version?
I tested on a laptop and on a desktop PC.
EDIT:
OK I think BASE 6.10 is just broken, because I now realize I do not even have additional Settings! checkout the screenshot:

I will post hwids later. My girl bought the Medion laptop, it's their latest.
During Windows Setup, a "New Hardware Found" wizard pops up, a monitor has been found. When I finish the wizard a second one pops up and closes immediately. and at first GUI login, I can hardly login to my account, windows cannot load files (not enough system resources) and cannot load profile.

tested my cd on several other laptops and pcs, no problem there.
I tried a clean WinXP Pro SP2, after that I installed the drivers (Chipset first, always restart after each driver) from the drivers folder on the Medion Recovery partition... Everything went fine UNTILL I installed Graphics, after rebooting I got the same problems.

I tried the Medion Windows MCE (clean, no software/drivers will be installed) and installed the drivers after Windows setup manually. Same result after installing Graphics.

I tried Medion Recovery dvd, this is a backup from Medion so drivers etc. are already installed.
Here everything works fine! with the Graphics installed ofcourse!

I cannot do testing anymore, my girl leaves tomorrow with the notebook for a few months to England. I have installed everything, did the drivers manually EXCEPT graphics driver. Already tried flash games (bejeweled etc) they work fine... (without graphics installed.
I will test today if she will at least be able to watch dvd and xvid... I really hope so otherwise she will kill me.

If someone else has this laptop please test! I'll report the hwids tonight/morrow.
I have written about this more extensively in the Dutch Got:

But when you use the CCP I included it does not work at all, right?

Then I can only select 800 or 1024 res, clicking on the Ati Tabs produces an error but I can move the error window away and click some checkboxes (that remove the tray icon for example) and click Apply. When I want to click OK to close the window I have to close the error window first.
So the CCP works but the error makes it annoying to use. And the resolution problem I could indeed use Powerstrip for that  but then I found the driverfiles on my other partition.
When installing that driver, CCP works, but I think it has less tabs, wich is normal.. but I didn't pay attention on how many tabs there were.

It's the F5D7011df Belkin Hi-Speed Wireless G Notebookcard. A very very good and superstable 11g card (with Afterburner support and WPA2). Can recommend it to anyone smile
Ontopic, it gets installed as some DELL card. That's not so strange, because they probably use the same Broadcom chip. It even says it is correctly installed! But it doesn't find ANY network. And also, when I try to update the driver with the Belkin driver, it says "didn't find newer driver" and doesn't install it. Even when I deinstall the card, then refresh the Hardwarelist, Windows finds the card and installs the Dell driver again... had to remove the ....SYS file before I could install my own driver manually.

The Dell .sys file that is used has the same name as my Belkin .sys file.
Here is HWID + the Belkin driver. I HOPE adding HWID is enough... adding more files means again bigger driverpacks.. well not that a few KB would matter but still .

Driver from Belkin. (dates from March 2006)

Yes I use CCP, not CCC. It's an old laptop... from 2003 or something.. after installing the Sony driver it works fine.. and I can select all resolutions including the screens native res 1400x1050. It's an old videocard, I only see "Ati Weergaves", Ati kleur", "Ati opties" en "Ati Overlapping". Nothing else is supported (I guess).
I've uploaded the driver.

Hiya, last driverpack I used would be 6.01, the Ati videocard this laptop uses (Mobility M1) wasn't supported back then, but I was to lazy to post. Now with the newest driverpack, it does get installed. 2 errors though:

- When I click on Ati tabs in the control panel, I get some strange errors about a .cpl file in shell32.dll.
- The driver isn't correctly installed because I can only select between 800x600 and 1024x768.
BTW it does say Ati M1, that is the correct name.

So I simply install the Ati driver Sony provides, restart and everything is fine smile
download Sony driver (it is their latest, dates from 2003)
Here's HWID + working drivers from Sony + link to the Sony site..

I know the idea and I support it. I do want my CD to work on every system.
I nLitened Windows to ~220 MB, but I use XPize, wich makes it around 240 MB, Office2003SP2+hotfixes (W, E, PP, Dutch) (60MB), .Net1.1+2.0 (27MB) and a lot more stuff. Things most people need... not some special software. Things like Java JRE, Mozilla apps... I use Windows Vista soundscheme and I add 4 themes. Most things (that do not need an installer) I have in 1 major 7z file wich is around 45 MB (ini files, themes etc), Nero Lite (47MB). Antivirus, Perfectdisk. And WMLite/Quick/Realite + ffdshow ~20 MB..
I am thinking about creating my own Nero Lite.. with the 6.6 version that resulted in a Nero installer that was only 25 MB...so I assume Nero Lite 7 can be smaller as well. But it would take too much time to do it.

in total my apps + 7z file take up 300 MB. + 12 MB for my default Vista theme (uncompressed in $OEM$) makes it a total of ~550 MB.
Wich leaves 150 MB free, but I am planning to use 800MB cds since I have never found an old CDROM that couldn't read the disc. Then I have 250 MB free.. but I want to reserve 9 MB for Acronis True Image (from a Boot menu) + perhaps even add Acronis partitioner (9).. and ofcourse around 30 MB free space to allow the driverpacks and other things to grow smile

My CD doesn't just install on any pc, it sets all apps to work fine from the moment the PC boots after first GUI boot. I add ini files for things like Winamp and Xnview etc.

very offtopic, anyway, I leave out the DP-G C,  then the driverpacks are 223 MB. I am considering leaving out A as well since Ati and nVidia drivers are very easily found and installed. Perhaps I put a link for both drivers in my Autorun menu. But I prefer not to remove it.
I searched A for files I could remove,  I remember someone once proposed to delete all non-English helpfiles. I was against that idea, but know I considered it. I found out it isn't worth it... in some folder there are 12 MB of helpfiles... since they are mostly text, 7z compresses it nicely. Also helpfiles in your own language are always nice for some people.
I also saw the ATI CCC and CCP, they take up 20 MB. Catalyst Control Center + Catalyst Control Panel... Won't the installfile/script fail if I remove CCC? And I am curious what would happen if I remove both.. I assume that would be at least a dumb thing to do smile

Pleeeease no more drivers! last time I used the driverpacks, it was december 2005... they ate ~130 or 150 MB of my CD... now it's over 200MB!
Switching to 800MB CDs smile I persist on using CDs.. not all my pcs have dvdrom.
but it becomes real scary when you count the uncompressed numbers.. gigabytes of drivers...
thanks for the update smile

hey sneaky Bashrat, a few days back I read on the top of this forum 3 driverpacks were updated (thanks for that note btw & for the updates big_smile ).... that means: the Releases topic, the driverpacks topics concerning the update AND the website should be updated. So even if you only update 1 pack, you have to update 3 sites (2 topics + the main site). Isn't that a bit crazy?
Perhaps updating 1 pack with a few drivers takes less time then updating the sites about this updated pack :S
Since I know you can be a bit of a perfectionist, you might want to make a change to save time smile

a website, as simple and clear as possible smile
It has already become soo easy (compared to a year or more ago) to use the Driverpacks. Perhaps a wiki isn't necessary and a good website would be sufficient.
but if you do want a wiki perhaps you could simply extend the uAwiki?

in some countries daily temps above 30 are normal.. still people work! Even outside, on the land, road etc.
not even inside a house with a fan or airco.
so we spoiled people shouldn't complain that much tongue

I'd rather see an update of the driverpacks (pretty outdated with no support for the AM2 socket mb's en new intel cpu mb's and nVidia videocards).
Because that's what its all about... I understand Bashrat want's the integrator/finisher to be perfect.. but functionally, they just have to integrate, do the job the batchfiles did... for the users, the .7z files are the most important. So it's the functional part that counts most for me. once integrated, I don't care about the integrator.
But ofcourse I'll wait patiently.

Yeah Realtek is real fast with new releases but I think they are only fast when it isn't a round number: 1.40 will last for some time.. but if they release 1.41, you can rest assure 1.42 etc will follow very soon big_smile

I builded a pc last weekend for someone with the MSI 7600GT Low-Noise videocard... this new driver was the only one that worked flawlessly, with the previous WHQL (not a beta) I had purple lines at one side.
Please update with this new driver smile

Ohh this pack has become really old tongue
No support for Nvidia nForce 500 series!
It was really strange to install everything manually hehe almost forgot howto.. then realized there had to be a CD in the mainboard's package tongue (couldn't download since they also contain the driver for the network LAN).
