hidden feature? you mean like mapping it that way? or useing subst command...

huh?

I was saying that from what I read, that nothing outside of the I386 folder is seen... however, ironically the "$OEM$" folder still works like normal... Why can we not move the OEM folder contents into the $OEM$ and process the driverpacks in that manner or the exe's to $OEM$ and the driverpacks to I386 so they can be 'seen'?

I guess I'm a little confused... Using With my windows share it finds my $OEM$ folder... why is it not able to find the OEM folder used with M2?

[SetupData]
SetupSourceDevice = "\Device\LanmanRedirector\Server\RemInst\SETUP\XPEPO"
[Data]
OriSrc = "\\Server\RemInst\SETUP\XPEPO\i386"

Maybe someone can clarify how this process works. (Could we not just place the contents of the 'OEM' folder into somewhere respective in the '$OEM$' folder and call it from there?)

...making very slow progress with this...
I had to copy NTDETECT.COM to the tftp root as well as SETUPLDR.EXE (then rename it to NTLDR)

I am now able to boot the windows xp setup, however I get the following error while trying to copy its files:
"File PCNTPCI5.sys caused an unexpected error (21) at line 3788 in d:xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c."

Edit: don't mind me... the above PCNTPCI5.sys error was cause I forgot to move the .sys files to the I386.
Windows setup is now booting and installing!!! However, I'm using the source of one of my known working CD's that has already been integrated with updates and drivers (method2) and I recieve an error upon guimode start that it can't find C:\DSPdsblr.exe and again on first windows boot that it can't find C:\DPsFnsher.exe... I'm assuming there is a special way to integrate the drivers for network installs?

Found that there are 2 other drivers that cause the error that I listed above, so they need to be deleted before the command is run:
D\L\IN\PROXGB\ixe5132.inf
D\L\IN\PROXGB\ixe6032.inf
***
Side note: I have finally gotten the driver database created with infparser got the tftp setup following the directions listed (which is very sketchy and inconsistent), I am able to PXE boot to the linux menu, however when I select my version of windows it "TFTP failed." on the client system, and on the TFTP server says "File <ntlrd> : error 2 in system call CreateFile  The system cannot find the file" ... still looking for help on this if anyone has any input.

I followed the instructions for the XP version setup, and when trying to do step# 11 I receive the following error, even after removing the files suggested in Step#6.

C:\BINL>Infparser.py C:\BINL\INF
Traceback (most recent call last):

  File "C:\BINL\infparser.py", line 52, in str_lookup

Any Ideas?

Thanks for the info, I will try the windows tftp as soon as I get some free time.

New packs are always fun to play with!
Thanks to all that have shared in the hard work that goes into making/updating these packs time after time!

Do you have this device installed and working properly on any one of the systems?

I would give the NT drivers a shot... I haven't seen any for XP as of yet myself either...

Did I mention that I hate modems?!
Were always the worst to find functional drivers for....... hmm

Hmm... I see the Trident Cyberblade is part of the Display Driver pack B... but I don't see mention of this specific card. Have you tried the manufacturers site?

I just tested my build in VMware... and network installs, but not sound or video sad
What is going on here? I dont remember having any of this issues in the past.

Anyone else having these issues?

I've had this problem in the past, and I've found that it was caused by removing drivers from driver.cab with nLite.  If I select to NOT remove any drivers using nLite, everything in VPC works perfectly.
VPC just uses synthetic hardware/software drivers to interface with the host system.

I do have drivers set to be removed, but nothing even remotly related to network... (ex: Printers). I used the 708 but the newer pack came out the day after I made my build... and I would think that the VPC would have all the same HWID's right? (i dunno).

...I also noticed that the sound Driver was not installed in VPC either (strange).
I'm testing with VMware as we speak, and will have the results of that to post when I get home today.

Hey All,

I don't know if this is just my problem or not... But I can't seem to get my LAN working inside of VirtualPC anymore.
Device manager shows that it is installed and working, but shows network cable is disconnected (how? I am typing on the same cable?!?) Doesn't matter if I set the NIC to shared, or dedicate it a card...

The funny thing is that I can PXE boot a blank VPC with no issues...

Any Ideas?

Should the test version (7081) or the new one (709) fix this and would it help with the LAN controller on a nVidia 430 based mother board (Asus M2N-MX)?

Hope the new pack works for this board, I did a install with 708 and no NIC or video (eek, but that is another thread)

yikes
I just got a promotion!!! I figured that I would share the news!
As of tomorrow, we will be taking on a new contract for GMAC! which means ~ 16,500 more PC's to manage!!!!!
Sweet!

...bad thing is that there is already a standard Windows build in place... Maybe I can persuade them tongue

Pretty much same as above...

When I was at my height of contribution, I worked at a local PC repair shop and would use the packs to do reinstalls for customers. Since I had many, many different sets of hardware at any given time... When I found something that didn't work, or wasn't in the packs it ended up here.

I would like to thank Bâshrat the Sneaky as well as all the other regulars that helped me along my way, I couldn't have completed half of the work that I did without you guys!

However, that job was a dead end. I was at the top of my pay scale, and management was a paycut...
I quit after coming back from my (paid) vacation,  just to find out that they decided that they didn't want to pay me.
...I have since moved on to bigger and better things, I am now on a team of 15 agents that manage ~55,000 GM client computers. With my limited time and lack of hardware to test, it is hard, but I try to stay as active as I can...

However, let me say that these 3rd party DriverPack live from member input, and that means you!

@Helmi - Couldn't have said it better myself.

I as well can try to take a look, I know that there is another modem that I have been needing to add, but haven't found the time yet.

Do you happen the have the HWID's of the system or modem?

How come i'm not able to download a thing from the 3rd party DriverPacks??? Direct links won't work so i tried logging in into the ftp account...but alas! didn't work either. i'm thinking that the latest user id/password (As of June 6, 2007 - http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=329) supplied by bashrat was changed. or maybe the server was...hmmm

No issue downloading the packs... except for Broadband and HP (which seem to be dead links)

Hey guys,

I just did an install on a Toshiba L35 (psl33u) that has a ATI Radeon M200. The video was not installed, and ended up with the generic display adapted after setup completed.

Unfortunatly, I did a 'No, No' after I was done and forgot to collect the HWID's of the system, and do not have access to it anymore. I ended up downloading the display driver from the Toshiba site for the L30 family, and worked without further issues.

~Dave

Suggestions:
1) for the downloading process, the program should run hash checks on the files that are currently downloaded and compare them against the current server version. In doing so, it could be added into the program to only download copies of the files that have changed or are corrupt. Because, as of right now... the downloader will download everything regardless of of the file currently exists or not.

2) Would be GREAT to also have access to slipstream RyanVM updates and other update packs.

Otherwise, I haven't fully tested but WOW... you guys have really pulled things together to put things all in one place to make things easier on all of us!

Just wanted to throw in that I just did an install with the latest official driver packs (on a Dell E310) and also recieved the Device error code 31. As previously mentioned, downloading and manually installing the driver resolves the issue...
