okey, ill get that added to SmartCards

cdob, thanks for that, the two microsoft links sound very likely, I have just got the hotfixes form them - I will try on Monday to see if they fix it. The links you get indicate they are both part of XP SP3. If these are of use, these are the links for them both

In setupapi log I get this (despite packs being present) during install

Afterwards, when I select the 'ethernet controlller' in device manager, it searches and finds drivers fine (and all looks good in the setupapi log too, looking and ranking the various broadcom drivers) - I had a look in the \Bx dir's and all looks fine to me...very odd

Hi Jaak,
Can you point me to the direction of the hacked DLL, otherwise I can see no way this is ever going to work.
thanks

If anyone is interested some .sys files get omitted from the Intel gigbit dir, I\PRO1000 when adding it into Bart, I have just manually added them, (without overeriting e1000325.sys which was allready there but dated 2003) I will post what success this has [doesnt work on Dell 755's as it gets done without these]

Just tried new pack in Dell 755, it hangs on the GUI phase where graphics is detected (hangs on the monitor part to be precise - have posted in seprate post in this forum about that earlier)
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_29B2&SUBSYS_02111028&REV_02

I have replicated problem with Dell D810, edit - (same problem with drivers going back to 09/07 [oldest ive tried with]). This one ends up with yellow exclam in device manager, searching for a new driver manually however its ok, although that defeats the object.
VEN_14E4&DEV_1677&SUBSYS_01861028

I just read the DP_LAN log and you mention renaming the \B3 .cat file, am I right in thinking the .cat file signs the .inf referencing its own name, so if you change the .cat files name in the inf, the cat file no longer validates it?

hi guys and gurls and mr_smartepants smile
happy new year to everyone!
any news on the new G_B pack with non-adulterated Intel drivers? I am happy to rebuild Intel section if people are short of time?
cheers

Also have exact same issue with Dell ATG D620 and Mobile 945 chipset
in \I\1
driver version 08/07/2007

Hi mr_smartepents,
Thanks for seeing this post! I think they were both using latest nightly at the time, (7.12.1 - 4th dec, or 7.12, certainly a December one anyway)
[I am not sure when they got broken as this was first rebuild since 09/09]

The other issue with Latitude  D430 and Optiplex 755 seem to be problem with \I7\ drivers specifically, (freezing up at GUI stage - have made separate posts about these)

Hi
Intel 'pack' is once again FUBAR.... it was all fine on 09/09 when MrSmartepants fixed the cat files, not they are broken again in latest release (this is first new build I did since then so not sure at what point they got broke. Getting the old e001 untrusted driver rank and not installing again.....

Examples,
HP Laptop ZE2000 onboard Intel:

#I022 Found "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3582" in C:\WINDOWS\DriverPacks\D\G\I2\ialmnt5.inf; Device: "Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller"; Driver: "Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller"; Provider: "Intel Corporation"; Mfg: "Intel Corporation"; Section name: "i852GM".
#I087 Driver node not trusted, rank changed from 0x00002001 to 0x0000e001.
#I023 Actual install section: [i852GM]. Rank: 0x0000e001. Effective driver date: 02/07/2006.

Dell GX280 onboard intel graphics:

#I022 Found "PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2582" in C:\WINDOWS\DriverPacks\D\G\I3\igxp32.inf; Device: "Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family"; Driver: "Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family"; Provider: "Intel Corporation"; Mfg: "Intel Corporation"; Section name: "i915G0".
#I087 Driver node not trusted, rank changed from 0x00002001 to 0x0000e001.
#I023 Actual install section: [i915G0]. Rank: 0x0000e001. Effective driver date: 01/13/2007.

D\G\I7 also causes hang at GUI stage on Dell Dimension D430 laptop and Optiplex 755 - specifically at the monitor dection stage, but is definately graphics driver issue.

anyone got any ideas? has anyone had any luck with latest drivers and D430 or 755 doing it non-sysprep?

? Sorry I don't understand, I presume you are referring to the same issue with the D430, which is a laptop with built in screen?

This is a Dell Optiplex PC attached to an old 4:3 Dell LCD moonitor which works fine on every other pc' i've used this image on (am also using the 3rd party DriverPack for monitors)

It appears perhaps as no coincidence this Optiplex 755 desktop and D430 laptop both have onboard Intel video hardware and are using the same driver from  \I1\ (DriverVer=10/30/2007,6.14.10.4885)

I presume that this must be the cause, anyone got any ideas?

Hi,
Have another Dell sticking at first GUI reboot, exact same issue as the D430 laptop as posted about a couple of days ago. 11.28 is first log entry after manual reboot was initiaited. I can only presume its Intel graphics driver related as cannot see a reason why the monitor drivers are going to cause an issue? Anyone got any ideas, at all??

Hi, no idea about 'normal' method as have no reason to use it.
This is about a sound issue rather than a method issue as ultimately they are doing the same thing in the PnP detection stages, at least as far as I know, (but I stand to be corrected.)
Anyway this has been an ongoing issue specific to Sigmatel drivers for over half a year with same problem, I think Jaak was looking into it as its a known issue people have reported in the past but as yet not heard anything else about it.
Its becoming abit of a major headache because appart from this everything else is on the whole working flawlessly on all other machines except Sigmatel HD audio ones.
Installing the driver from Dells site for example always works fine afterwards, but this defeats the object.

Hi, I was using the latest monitor pack. I can't believe it is hanging as a result of MS's generic monitor install?, its just too non critical, I have never had any issues on other widescreen laptop monitors.

I cant really be more precise as to the issue, it hangs and the log shows the above. I am 99.9% sure its an issue with the Intel drivers.

Anyone else using a D430 ?

Dell D430 is freezing at end of first reboot, at the PnP monitor detection that comes just after the graphics card.
It has been this way since the summer. This is using latest dev/test packs as of about 5 days ago.

[using sysprep method]

Hi guys,

have used latest (dev/test) sounds packs and is still getting a yellow exclam 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)' as have always had.
The driver versions its using is 5.10.5511.0

HDAUDIO\FUNC01&VEN_8384&DEV_7690&SUBYS_10280201&REV_1022\4&3474892&0&0001

KB888111 is installed, thi is same issue for any mahcine using Sigmatel audio.

In control panel is an icon 'IDT Audio Control Panel' and clicking this gives error
'IDT Audio driver is inaccesable.
Please make sure it is installed and enabled'

[I am using sysprep method]

strange one this, bios was on A06, i updated to A08 and did a 'load defaults' then it worked fine....unfortunately as I made the classic mistake of altering more than one variable at a time I dont know what  fixed it, but I presume as it now works on 280's with even older BIOS versions, it was some setting in the bios. This may be of use incase anyone else has this issue on Dell Optiplex models - reset to bios defaults!

this is where it hung at 10.01 and I restarted it at 10.15

etc..

works fine again until next reboot and same thing happens, black scrren white mouse mointer, fronzen - once u are then logged in to normal desktop, and mouse /keyboard get detected as new HW (why now and not earlier i dont know??) it then is ok and works normally.

Hi,
Latest packs (as of yesterday, inc latest test Audio packs) I am having pc hang at the reboot points, instead of the reboot i get a black screen with frozen white mouse pointer on. Used to be fine on these GX280's and is fine on the other machines?
Am at a bit of a loss as to whats causing it?

I have taken the liberty of rolling back the non-working setpoint V4 driver to previous v3.10, now on server

-update-
Now everything works again smile
