No, the CDN will only be used to speed up the website itself. For file distribution, Amazon S3 will probably be used, taking advantage of its built-in Bittorrent support. At least individual drivers will be. I may consider a different strategy for DriverPacks though. But "DriverPacks" will have a different meaning by then: it will be an automatically packaged set of drivers. Updates will be granular, thus require virtually no bandwidth, thanks to the DriverDB (which will be served from Amazon S3, as mentioned before).

Thanks again for your offer though. I will keep it in mind.

Customized and automated DP's ? ... w00t big_smile.

Great to hear you're doing OK.

/me waiting for that new website

The packs have been maintained quite well, no worries there.

Hope to have you back soon.

R.

Had the same issue some time ago (also posted it here). Same trick to make it work, uninstalled the driver (from DP) and manually installed again. That solved it.

R.

But 7.0.0.1020 is official and not in 7.05. Why ? Or did I miss something (in the changelog) smile.

Congratz. I'll need this again quite soon.

That's more then enough for me. And since today I have access. Merci !

No "testing" sub-forum for me till now. To be sure I logged out and back in.
The adds do seem to be gone - so maybe I'm doing something wrong, where is the "testing" located ? :-)

So there is a newer version than the one used  which is even WHQL....

Based on this driver i made a test pack

Let me know if this works please.

Currently I'm a bit short in time. I'll see what I can do in next weekend.

added : PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&SUBSYS_81E41043

That did not help. I tried to remove PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363 from the list of JRAID. Did not solve it either.
Then I uninstalled the JMicron drivers and manually [same version] installed them again. Now things are OK.

Below are the differences with the mass storage pack,

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&SUBSYS_81E41043&REV_02\4&18CD42CE&0&00E4: JMicron JMB36X Controller
PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&SUBSYS_81E41043&REV_02\4&18CD42CE&0&01E4: JMB36X Standard Dual Channel PCIE IDE Controller

Device Manager,

http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/3964/goodmicronph0.jpg

So the problem is not the JRAID driver [PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&SUBSYS_81E41043&REV_02\4&18CD42CE&0&00E4
] it seems but the PCIE IDE [PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&SUBSYS_81E41043&REV_02\4&18CD42CE&0&01E4
] driver setup. I think the PCI IDE is not used in my PC.

One point where I was wrong is that I could initialize the external HD and use it when I only had the MS pack installed, so the problem is only in correctly setting up the PCI IDE part.

Drivers used from JMicron : ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2 … .17.08.rar

If you need anymore information from me let me know.

R.

Didn't solve the problem. I'll now try the manual step.

when i see your post with the screen capture, it looks like my old problem with Jmicron 360 used with a single device on my motherboard.
You could try this:

putting this into your txtsetup.sif

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&SUBSYS_81E41043="jahci"

it seems JMicron 36x chipset needs jahci driver when used with a single device

I prefer a test pack as muiz3 mentioned. Else I'll try to do this manually as you explained.

muiz3 wrote:

Maybe i post the same test pack for dnoiz ?

Please do so, so I can test this tonight.

Thanks already !

hi again

if you still have the old sound addon, that might help.
Else, above may have your solution..

btw,  I put my glasses on, and now I saw the yellow splat..
sorry.

I'm using the latest releases from RyanVM. The sound driver issue isn't a huge problem as I can still install the driver later on myself. The MassStorage issue is a bigger problem as I can't use my external harddisk sad .

Also, from what I know, the external eSATA HD shouldn't be recongnized as a SCSI device or ?

R.

muiz3 wrote:

@dnoiz do you have card readers or usb  drives?

No cardreader, no usb drives. The external drive is using the eSATA port.
I do have an old parallel printer (LaserJet 4L) connected using a USB-to-Parallel cable.

The weird thing is that during Windows installation the JAHCI driver is used and once Windows is installed and running it's using the JRAID driver (or am I wrong ?).

@muiz, anything weird in my HID's list ?

R.

Here a shot of Windows installation, here you can see that during the installation JACHI is correctly detected. Once Windows is started for the first time it's not correct anymore (see screenshots above).

Hi,
YES, donators are able to see more subforums.
And yes, the beta testing forum is one of these.

Then I hope I get added to the group soon wink

R.

I did notice one thing, I have in my HID's,

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363

and most ppl with JMicron problems had,

PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2360

So there's a difference, could be because I opted for AHCI in BIOS. The DEV_2363 is part of the RAID list in the DP MS pack, which is not correct it seems :

[J-2]
ms_count 			= 1
ms_1_deviceName		= "JMicron JMB36X RAID Controller"
ms_1_tag			= "jraid"
ms_1_sysFile		= "jraid.sys"
ms_1_hwids			= "PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2360&CC_0104,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2361&CC_0104,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&CC_0104,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2365&CC_0104,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2366&CC_0104,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2360&CC_0106,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2361&CC_0106,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2363&CC_0106,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2365&CC_0106,PCI\VEN_197B&DEV_2366&CC_0106"
ms_1_isBusExtender	= false

Can anyone explain to me what the "&CC_0104" part is in those entries ?

R.

What are the goodies of being in this group ? Beta's ? big_smile

ps. I donated for the BIOS thingie, right ? wink
ps2. once my current Visa bill is paid for I'll see what I can do (next month) for the VPS project

bitman44 wrote:

somewhat discussed (but with different SUBSYS)on forum at:
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=1228

I will give that nightly build a try later today.

R.

Could this be the reason why the sound drivers are not installed ?

2007-01-29 08:44:47 : <SLIP> English (RyanVM's) UpdatePack detected: no HDA hotfix will be slipstreamed.

R.

Hi,

I have a Lacie d2 external eSATA disk that I connect to my motherboard using the available eSATA port which is available via the JMicron controller. In BIOS the disk is recognized correctly, also during Windows installation  [using the jahci driver], but not when Windows is running.

In Device Manager I can see,

http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/8146/jmicronib4.jpg

and

http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/8015/laciedt6.jpg

In BIOS I set the JMicron controller to AHCI.

Anyone an idea what is wrong ?

Thanks.

ps. The SoundMax [sound] driver is not installed either from what I can see.
