Welcome to DriverPacks Romeo91,

Looks pretty cool! Thanks for sharing!

I hope this helps you to get some feedback...
Are you supporting this application on another forum? (looked like Russian to me)
Would you like responses in english to this thread? (are you subscribed to this thread?)

ummm... that answer to all those questions are contained in the FAQ section of our forum
The next one up from this one wink

posted by me and written by the team over several years of similar questions to yours. wink
http://forum.driverpacks.net/viewtopic.php?id=2461

It is quite complete, detailed, commented, examples given, and easy to read...
let us know if you still have questions after you read that. tongue

I usually award a demerit for asking questions that are answered in the FAQ or the tutorials, but, it's Christmas wink.

Welcome to DriverPacks!

ERROR:  Preinstall is not a supported operation for driver type 5
No driver store entry for c:\dsfs\binaries\brd3k8flt\brd3k8flt\brd3k8flt.inf found. (Error code 0xE0000302.)

start by addressing the shown errors... they may yeild the answer.

It looks to me as if it should work...
your best bet is to follow this up at MS. they have a forum for this wink.

I am curious why it failed though...
Did you verify that the add remove entry was actually created?

ICH9 is supported... was the error a 7B?

What was the error number>

have you submited the false positive to them yet?

When a noname brand AV finds a virus in our packs it is always FALSE.

Find a good AV program, and don't post "Virus Found" unless you can absolutely CONFIRM IT with a Second AV program (preferably one on a consumer reports top ten list) or with a response from your AV company confirming it (requires submission to them)

questions:

what version of dpinst.exe?
did you try the dpinst.xml entry for suppressAddRemovePrograms? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms794270.aspx

suggestion:
I have had issues with certain command line switches and found specifing both the command switch and the xml entry too helped.

Welcome:

You don't have to have a server to do a RIS style install...
you can use the RIS source from a network share, you just won't have PXE support. wink
you would need to have a BartPE boot CD to initialize the network and start the setup. big_smile

The KEY TO THIS is that the RIS source files are properly configured to complete through the network, whether or not you will use PXE to connect. wink

SAD (Stand Alone Driver-updater) it's discussed in the FAQ section and is a selectable option from DriverPacks BASE.

Any DriverPacks sliptreamed media can be used as a SAD.

OOppps! Thanks for reporting proximous.

Why haven't you been added to the testing team? tongue

RIS is the traditional way to do this... RIS is not directly supported by DriverPacks however our good friend RogueSpear created AutoImage. AutoImage will create a RIS image and integrate DriverPacks. You must have DriverPacks installed and the DriverPacks downloaded to the DriverPacks folder. See our tutorial, link in my signature. (hint most PC's support boot from network so you would not even need a disc to boot from. wink)

You could also use a Ghost boot CD to boot and copy an image. This could be a sysprep image, or an image that runs setup, or a completed image.

You could also use BartPE boot CD to to deploy your OS. Again multiple options here. RIS, SysPrep, Image, direct install from disc, etc...

USB:
If you're going to use a USB thumb drive then you might as well just go ahead and install from there, it will be a super fast install wink.
If you are going to use a USB HDD... see above
If you are going to use a USB CD ROM See section previous to "USB:"

I hope that helps...

Please also visit the "Universal imaging" section of our forum and also do a search for "RIS" and "SysPrep" and "Ghost" "network install" (perhaps combinations of those smile)

Welcome to DriverPacks please take a moment to look around, since we have been here over five years there is quite a wealth of knowledge to glean from. Please ask if you can't find something. ( Warning: I will make fun of you if the answer is in the FAQ section of our forum big_smile

Have an awesome day and I hope that helped.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Moved to News Forum...
compstuff your post is now visible on our home page wink.
Thanks for all the enthusiasm and participation!

http://www.support-highpoint-tech.com/M … 2.25.9.zip

looks like the right file set? is that the one you used? copied the whole thing to a floppy?

No sense in adding a driver that does not work wink... We will be glad to add one that does!

It would be excellent if you could find the working f6 driver...

Be sure to use a BartPE disc with no drivers added for the f6 testing, since any existing / added drivers may conflict wink.

Thanks for reporting!

and several solutions were offered...

either delete Winnt.sif or delete the entire [Unattended] section from Winnt.sif... so i guess it's "great" already wink

You will have to make these changes manualy, since they are required for unattended installation. (supported)
be advised that many of the DriverPacks drivers will stop with a dialog and require user input during install or repair if you do this.
It's now an attended install - attended installs (like a repair) are unsupported, but should work as long as you sit there and click through the popups. wink

It is an Either / OR choice. One or the Other you can't have both. Although you can create a multiboot disc.
the easiest thing to do is just to keep a clean OEM disc just for repairs wink
and a separate disc with DriverPacks for installs.

Please note that a DriverPacks slipstreamed disc can be used as Stand Alone Driver (SAD).
So after a repair you could run DP_Inst_Tool.cmd from a DriverPacks slipstreamed source to update the local drivers.
or you could jsut put a SAD folder on your repair disc (or multi boot disc).

Welcome to DriverPacks

Summary:
a) If the Unattended section exists in WinNT.sif then the repair option is not presented (Repair is an Attended feature)
b) If the Unattended section entries are missing then XP setup will pause for input with certain hardware / DriverPacks driver combinations but you will then be able to select the repair option big_smile.

a simple search of MS for XP Repair yields http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin … oug92.mspx

MS wrote:

How do you perform a reinstallation of Windows XP, sometimes called a repair installation?

Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer. Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.

1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.

3. Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.

4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

I don't normaly recomend doing a repair, Personaly I would reload the OS, But I am a tech wink.
an inexperienced person can get through a repair fairly easy, Reloading is harder (requires backup and restore of user data ect.)

You might also download DriverPacks BASE go to the update page and get all the packs then use DriverPacks BASE to create a SAD folder that can be used to update all the drivers in your system. This option is a little more involved but may just solve your issue...

Moved to other

welcome to DriverPacks! best of luck!

Not that I know of... but we can wait and see if anyone else responds.

see your other topic re SAD for Vista  / Win7

yeah dpinst works with vista and win 7

you just have to extract the packs to a subfolder of dpinst and run it.  It could not be any easier to use tongue.

Just put dpinst and DPInst.xml (this file is in a SAD folder so you could copy it)

DPInst.xml

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
  <dpinst>
    <search>
      <subDirectory>*</subDirectory>
    </search>
   <scanHardware/>
   <legacyMode/>
   <promptIfDriverIsNotBetter/>
  </dpinst>

the xml file tells dpinst to search all subfolders for drivers wink

for silent mode just run DPINST.EXE /c /s /sh /lm /el /sa

/c = Log to console (dos window)
/s = silent
/sh = Search local hardware
/lm = Legacy mode
/el = enable language support (all not listed languages - none are listed so all are enabled)

/sa = suppress Add Remove Programs * very important as this can be quite messy if not used!

Since Win7 will use Vista drivers you can just extract any packs you want to a subfolder of dpinst.exe... EASY!
