Which Driver Pack do I need?

You did post it in the wrong forum but we all make mistakes I think it should have been posted under "Other" but don't worry a member of staff will probably move it to the correct section.

Did you get a CD with the mouse you bought? If so then the drivers you need will be stored on it simply insert it into your computer and it should autorun.

Base is the DriverPacks Base software which is written for slipstreaming drivers into an installation CD, nLite is a front end GUI for making many customisations to an installation CD. Neither of these you don't need at this time.

You could try doing a repair of your OS by inserting the XP CD and not running the Recovery Console the screen or two after that should allow you to perform a repair which will keep all you data but it may solve your problem.

Or you could try downloading the following tool;

This is virus free so do not worry it will run and then open Notepad with a lot of information in it copy and paste its contents in your next post. What it does is it scans your system and searches all your hardware and comes back with detailed information which may help us solve your problem.

I don't normaly recomend doing a repair, Personaly I would reload the OS, But I am a tech .
an inexperienced person can get through a repair fairly easy, Reloading is harder (requires backup and restore of user data ect.)

You might also download DriverPacks BASE go to the update page and get all the packs then use DriverPacks BASE to create a SAD folder that can be used to update all the drivers in your system. This option is a little more involved but may just solve your issue...
