Ooh, that would be a nice troubleshooting tool. To chase down the sourcediskfiles?
Sure!
But not all the files are at the INF root folder. In the example above, they're scattered throughout the folder structure.

OK thank you.
I'll see about working those changes into the next pack.
nt2 works but driver fails install for mass storage drive.
1. Not ok. Hangs at starting windows after loading drivers.
2. Ok
3. Ok but no massstorage driver
So is pack #2 OK or not OK?
Works/Not work in textmode
Works/Not work in desktop

Maybe I shouldn't have told you to use Win7-only tools.
As for Win7 tools, I prefer GDISM or sometimes just plain DISM.
I don't use Vista anymore. Win7 is much better.
For Vista, you'll need to use a 3rd party tool (like Vista-tool) or learn to use the Vista native ImageX.exe that's included in the Vista version of M$ WAIK

OK, so does the current dpms work on your hardware directly? Not using VB, but direct booting on your hardware?
I just want to confirm your hardware is affected and not just a buggy version of VirtualBox.

If you know for a fact that I8 does not work on your hardware, post your HWIDs so that we may possibly correct any flaws in dpms.

If you insist on using Vista (terrible choice in my opinion), Vista-tool works fine. Just follow the instructions.

http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6228
Or use MDT2010 with WAIK

Don't use vlite. It will corrupt your image.

Re: Problem with MassStorage 10.09 and newst version (9 replies, posted in DriverPack Mass Storage)
conclusion: only "text mode" driver is not enough - we NEED slipstream usual full mode driver to.
That's not entirely true. Using UBCD4win (BartPE plugin) it integrates dpms in text-mode-only and all works fine. Granted that it is only in a PE mode (not full desktop GUI) but it works.
I have yet to encounter a single problem using the new drivers in \I8. They are pure gold! I even got a chance to restore a system using an SSD on ICH9M and it worked flawlessly.
I use VirtualBox in all my testing and haven't had a BSOD in over a year. It's possible that the emulation on YOUR system has issues but I don't know of a situation where the user should select textmode ONLY unless it's for a PE environment.
@Jeff, maybe we should add a warning in DriverPacks BASE for users who uncheck the dpms or textmode options?
In my opinion, DriverPack Chipset & dpms should be checked by default. They're THAT important to a base install.

Re: Please how did this guy do it (37 replies, posted in Other)
Strike #1!
You are in violation of Rule #1
1. This is not a warez site! Links to or requests for warez and/or illegal material (OS discs, porn, cracks, serials, etc.) will not be tolerated. Discussion of circumventing WGA/activation/timebombs/keygens or any other illegal activity will not be tolerated. Advertising is also forbidden. If you violate any of the aforementioned you will be banned from this site without further notice.
Consider this the one and only warning for the above list of egregious items.
1a. We do not support warez or pirated installs. Our definition of this is: Did you obtain your license from Microsoft or an authorized OEM vendor? Do you have a legal hologram-ed disc? If the answers to both of those questions is "Yes", please continue. Otherwise, go legit or go home. Warez is a support nightmare for the DriverPacks staff. 99% of the DriverPacks failures are caused by the idiot who modified/released the pirated OS source in the first place because they didn't know what they were doing.
Do NOT ask about warez again! First and Last warning.
Buy a license. Learn to use the MS tools like the rest of us.
As for Win7 tools, I prefer GDISM or sometimes just plain DISM.
I don't use Vista anymore. Win7 is much better.

Re: FindHWIDS v3.2s - The INF Searching, Hardware ID Exporter (353 replies, posted in Software)
Well, mostly. There are a few oddball driver OEMs out there that really know how to screw-up a decent driver.
Check out the DriverPack Sound A\D\S\CR\wdma_emu.inf to see what I'm talking about. It only supports one X-Fi card and yet look at all the .sys files it needs!
Geez! That's ridiculous!

Re: FindHWIDS v3.2s - The INF Searching, Hardware ID Exporter (353 replies, posted in Software)
Yeah, I for one do not need the .org files indexed.
For file version comparison, definitely go for the .sys file. A basic driver consists of a .sys with matching .inf. A .cat would only be present for driver signing (not guaranteed) and .dll files are only for drivers adding significant functionality not already present in the OS libraries.

@123456,
You've been banned for one week for violating Forum rule #8.
8. You are expected to be mature when discussing in threads. Racism, pornography, threatening, profanity, personal attacks, or excessive vulgarity are not tolerated. You will be promptly banned … or worse. No exceptions. This community is built upon mutual respect. You are not allowed to wage personal attacks against other members. People who do not respect personal opinions and/or personal work will be warned in first instance. If you ignore the warning and keep on flaming, you will be banned (or worse) without any notice.
Please take this time off to re-read the rules and think about what possible benefit your threatening & abusive behavior could have in these forums where mutual respect is encouraged.
All three of your posts violated the above rule, that's 3-strikes.

The thread isn't dead, just very few people have the patience to test all the packs and report results.
Do your HWIDs change if you switch your SATA controller to RAID mode in the bios?
We have made progress though. We know that the PNPInterface "hack" needs to be implemented somehow into DriverPacks BASE but there's no timeline for that fix yet.
For now, keep testing and reporting. Your results WILL make the DriverPacks better!
