Use method 2 temporarily, until 6.08 is released.

How is that? If he needs this driver, then he needs it.

DriverPack MassStorage 6.08 will be released together with DriverPack Sound B 6.08, it's probably solved by a driver update wink

rc7 won't have this REMmed out issue anymore. I'm very glad Intel SATA RAID is confirmed to be working again smile

Did you perhaps slipstream the iastor.sys driver using nLite?

Please post your DPs_BASE.log.

Please do this:

1. Navigate to the I386 directory of your Windows XP installation files. Now find 'txtsetup.org' and open it using Notepad (or any text editor).
2. Search for the string 'iastor' (use CTRL+F). Are ANY matches found?

P.S.: funny nickname big_smile

Of course not smile

Just to let you know that it would have been a somehow sneaky new feature in one of the next updates wink

No, I'm not disagreeing with making it mandatory, I can clearly see the need.
However, by doing so you at least need to tell people how to make it work wink

Thanks for the link, RS, should be included in the instructions, IMO.

Done smile

RogueSpear means, at least I think so, that EACH file should be CABbed separetely. And that IS supported by Windows.

Will do RogueSpear, will do smile This is one of the most obvious features that still had to be implemented.

Indeed the best way there is smile

The reason why I'm making it MANDATORY is simple: since everyone can access the ftp, anyone could replace the original files by ones that include malware (or even just hack .inf files to set a certain homepage, for example). Therefore it's very important that these are included.

This will all be fixed in the next release.

I see several posts by new users about problems already fixed in a not yet released build.  How do those of us get access to the latest build so we can move on without having to wait for an official release.  Is there a way to get the latest build other than being granted beta tester rights?  If not, how can I become a beta tester?

I've sent you an e-mail with the download link wink

Very strange... you seem to be right! It DID work in the past, since I tried it. Will fix it in the morning.

Huh?

Say that I have this dir structure:

C:\testArea\wnt5_x86-32_disc\I386

Then I'd have to point to C:\testArea and the GUI would be reloaded in multibootDisc mode.

I didn't unzip it yet.... [blushing]... Perhaps you were right when you were insinuating that I did not have enough sleep? tongue Nah, I'm just having so much ideas right now... Alot is going on in my mind...

3. Add all settings files that you've created in step 1.

4. Start the slipstreaming.

This has NOT been tested yet, since none of my betatesters uses a multibootDisc. There are fewer multibootDisc users than I anticipated...

I've been testing and using PowerPacker (a utility by SigiNet to create MultiBoot Discs) on an irregular base. I believe there is a latent demand for creating ultimate (un)attended MultiBoot Discs, but since it is a fairly complex and unknow topic, few people start out experimenting with it.
I think when PowerPacker and DPBase complement each other and even for non-ICT-professional-users it becomes easy to do, you will find you did not support it invane in DirverPacks.

I'm creating a MB-disc in PowerPacker, but can't get DPBase to support it through the GUI like you subscribed: I do not get a possibility in the DPBase GUI to select multiple settingfiles.... If I'm overlooking something, please calrify your short HOWTO on how to use the MultiBoot-feature.......

Just to be complete: with PowerPacker I created a MB setup for two XP-installs. PowerPacker created two I386 directories (one in d:\PP\ROOT\I386 for the first XP and one in d:\\PP\ROOT\XOPO\I386 for the second one). After creating this (non-iso'ed) multiboot setup, I started the DPBAse 6.07rc6, entered d:\PP as a location and DPBase reports that it regcognizes XP as an OS, but troughout DPBase there seem to be no possibilities to make settings for multiboot-processing....

You should select d:\PP\ROOT then, since the I386 directories are two levels lower than that (they are inside the subdirectories of the 'ROOT' directory)

Download the save_hwids tool that you can find in my signature. Execute it and post the hwids.txt file here on the forum then.

Bâshrat, you must just unzip file in to "lng" folder. May be some kind of manipulation that you made is the reason for this language mismach.  I am sure that there will be a problem with the other cyrillic languages too.

Yes, that's why I've asked you to rename the file to the new format: '<language name in language> (<language name in English>).lng', because I cannot rename files using Cyrillic characters: I can copy/move them however. So please rename your file to the correct format.

An example to make it really clear:

français (French).lng

Sorry for the misunderstanding...

Hi Bâshrat,

Can i become a betatester too ? I'm certainly no expert, but since I've been using (and supporting) the Driverpacks for over a year now, I'm most certainly also no noob. Maybe I can contribute to the testing ?

TIA,

Moesasji

You definetely aren't smile I recognised your nickname immediately, btw wink You're definetely someone who has participated actively and positively in the community, then smile

That would be the second time, actually... And the first time did not do well... I'll await an official nVidia update: they cannot stay in this kind of situation for a long time. I suspect (read: hope) they'll offer a new version soon.

@midiboy & Fragbert: obviously, if there would be a professional (paid) product, then that (continuous DriverPacks updates) would be one of the many new requirements. And Fragbert, it's been working for a while already, but I just wanted it to be completely bugfree before this next version would be used by every one.
Better slow and then deliver something that's working smoothly from the first release wink
I don't mind that you prefer the old DriverPack Sound B, but you have to admit that there were continuously bugfixes for it. There have been several times that I had to put a new version online every single day. Would you accept that, as a user who has paid for a professional product? I couldn't live with that anymore. Hence the rather drastic change.
Now there are still releases every day (or once every couple of days), but with a more complex, yet more manageable codebase that offers more features and is easier to use. And the main difference is that I won't annoy EVERY user by the untested versions, but just those that would like to participate more close with the development (thanks again, my dear beta testers smile ). This way, I get less useless and timeconsuming 'noobish feedback' and more well-formed, positive critics, which again help to deliver better first releases.

I will soon be focussing on the web-end of this project. That means: one user to rule them all (forum, bugtracker, automated 'DriverPacks donor' status when made a donation), online documentation and tutorials, better website. That's on the frontend. The backend should include managing of downloads and - more importantly - the start of a truly automated drivers library. It's going to be a very complex undertaking, at first. The database structure must be completely be on paper before I start coding it: there are so many inner relationships to take note of.

I guess that last paragraph was some sort of sneak preview. I won't place ANY estimates on when it'll be ready, since a) I'm not being paid and b) I'm really bad at making estimates tongue.

I must say that I haven't checked it again, but the last time I checked was when all current official DriverPacks already existed, and then I was somewhere around 2500 characters. I cannot believe it has doubled since then, but I'll run a test to be sure. It's so obvious, but I didn't think of adding a length check.. due to that 2500-char test I just described. If you add 3pdps, then it won't be hard to cross that limit, so yes, that check has definetely become a necessity.

I've submitted it as a feature request to the bugtracker: feature request #123.
